When will he arrive... We kick off the group blogging momentarily... 10:28pm Well whose responsibility is it supposed to be if we are looking for work, without healthcare, or in need of something?Whose responsibility is it to put food on my table? Whose responsibility is it to keep myself healthy? Whose responsibility is it to earn the money to pay the bills? Just WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY IS IT Sen. Dummy? 10:24pm KMC: Nation of WHINERS was a quote by Phil Gramm - not John McCain... he's aiming at the wrong guy. LOVELY: And Obama has also voted with McCain and Bush 90% of the timeKMC: The red meat is not going to convince the independents - and that's who is supposed to be reaching for... LOVELY: Dick Morris was saying earlier that the way that stat is calculated is by everything the Senate votes on... Like to congratulate high schools that win state championships, et etc... And those votes are all always unanimous, so Obama can lump himself right in with McCain and Bush. B because big corporations give all the little people jobs. 10:22pm FAITH AMMEN: Anyone want to get the tissues? We are going to get plenty of sob stories. Why would you reframe the American government that people fought and died for be reduced to being about healthcare and preschool?10:20pm KMC: KATRINA???? The stupid Democrat Mayor and Governor were the ones who let New Orleans drown... The Mayor had 2000 buses, and by law was supposed to use them to evacuate people... He kept them locked while 1000 people drowned...
LOVELY: how about the New Orlaens Mayor who sat on his hands while his people drowned!!! 10:19pm KMC: No - not true, not more are working for less... More are working for more - for three years in a row... check the census bureau dummy... LOVELY: And for the 2nd quarter this year, the economy has grown... FAITH AMMEN: I had no idea Bush was such a powerful man? He controlled and dominated and superceded the Supreme Court and legislative branch for 8 years?10:15pm KMC: "With gratitude... I accept..." 10:11pm KMC: If Barack Obama believed and voted for the things he speaks about - everyone would vote for him. The problem is - the Barack Obama who casts votes in the United States Senate is not the Barack Obama in the biography video... 10:01pm KMC: Dick Durbin is the warm-up goat for the night. And he is pathetic... Bush's broken promises? No Child Left Behind - promised, delivered. No attacks on Americans after 911 - promise, delivered. New prescription plan - promise, delivered.

Lips moving, lies coming! According to brand new census data, some actual truthful reporting from the New York Times, we know for certain that former President Clinton was not being truthful in his speech last night - particularly on the economic factors. The former president spoke of a worsening economy, and he made the argument that people were earning less. But it was just flatulence of the mouth as the Census Bureau released its newest findings yesterday. For the third year in a row the median income for families has INCREASED! Another 1.3%... The same data also found that Joe Biden was not being honest in his speech last night when he touched on health care. The number of people without coverage DROPPED in the latest numbers by more than a million. And the uninsured percentage rate dropped from 15.9%-15.3%. MEANING: 84.7% of Americans are satisfactorily insured. I'm part of the 15.3% presently, but I do NOT, repeat, I DO NOT WANT the government to give it to me. It's my job to get it, and we will - but I don't want to tax YOU to be able to get it.

After receiving his party's nomination by a special act of affirmative action earlier in the day, Barack Obama popped on to stage to squeals of the long suffering conventioners that were nearly ready to poke their eyes out from the boredom of Joe Biden's acceptance speech! If Biden is supposed to bolster the ticket - expect yet another dip in the overnight tracking polls tomorrow. And not only was Biden boring he took on the role of attack dog pathetically...
Biden ran down a list of Obama's "legislative record" which afterwards - even left-leaning Nina Easton admitted, "this makes Obama's thin record" look even worse."
Then Biden went beyond the pale in repeated questioning of John McCain's judgment. I have questioned McCain's methods, and his temper, but I've never questioned his desire to see what was best for America be at the fore of his rationale for the "why" he did what he did.
I think it is a tremendously overplayed mistake for Biden to "go there." And that fundamentally it shows a desperation of a ticket that by all mathematical equations should be light-years ahead in this race, but is actually struggling to stay even.
Disagreement with McCain's ideas should be how they go about selling themselves. Attacking McCain's judgment and thereby his character is just a losing proposition. Especially since you can guarantee there will be massive tribute to his painful sacrifice to his nation in the GOP meetings coming up next week.
Clinton was the toughest nugget of the night, unfortunately for Obama he did not appear in the 10pm hour which was carried by the networks.
Instead we got a national helping of the Senator so boring I wanted to stab my hand with a fork just to prove to myself that I was still awake...

The "MuscleHead" Coverage Team At about 9pm or so Faith and I will kick in with running "live blog" commentary here on the MuscleHead pages. Downer!
11:20pm LOVELY: Well former President Bill Clinton was definitely the highlight tonight--he rallied the crowd and had them lapping up every word he said. He was charismatic as usual, although much of what he said was not true. He jumped from one point to the next so fast, however, that the shots he was taking were hard to keep up with. He made his case for Obama, albeit very thin.Biden, however, was not so engaging. His speech was incredibly boring. Towards the end, he started to make his case for Obama, distinguishing his choices and actions from those of John McCain. It was unremarkable, and very interesting considering that he didn't think Obama was qualified to be president not so long ago. Ultimately, there has still not been anyone who has come out and really clued the public in to who Obama is exactly, and how he is going to implement all these changes he keeps championing. All the while, they are trying to take shots at McCain, but they can't make any particularly strong arguments for why Obama would be such a stellar choice in comparison.
11:10pm FAITH AMMEN: We have had three straight nights of calf slobber. We have learned nothing about Obama. We have had sob stories, childhood memories, and cutesy phrases. There has been excessive Bush Bashing. For some reason they can't seem to challenge or critique McCain's record...all they can do is equate him to Bush. I'm still waiting for the speech when someone tells me what Obama has done and plans to do besides "change" and saving the world from the big bad Republicans.11:04pm THE MESSIAH APPEARS... "we ah fu-mb-lieee" 10:51pm FAITH AMMEN: Is this guy the same one who said of Obama: "I think he can be ready but right now, I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training." LOVELY: Should we trust Joe Biden? Who just said Obama wasn't ready to be president and he would serve with McCain anyday? 10:48pm LOVELY: the change we must change is the change we need is the change we will bring... change change change FAITH AMMEN: "alternative energy..5 million new jobs...tax cuts for 95% of the population..." He sounds like he forgot he was a democrat AND smoked pot LOVELY: how will Obama bring down health care costs? How will he put more cops on the street? FAITH AMMEN: equal pay for women? are we still in the dark ages? KMC: NOBODY IS TRYING TO DENY EQUAL PAY FOR WOMEN LOVELY: Don't women have equal pay? KMC: Why the hell do they keep saying that???????????? FAITH AMMEN: does he not realize women start small businesses at twice the rate of men? LOVELY: Is that the most pressing issue of our day?--Equal pay for women? FAITH AMMEN: "climate change"...oh, that issue that Pelosi won't let us vote on?LOVELY: Drill here drill now 10:43pm LOVELY: talk about playing to our fears in a speechKMC: Could this speech be MORE boring? what the heck is he supposed to be doing - lulling us to sleep? FAITH AMMEN: This is like a happy sappy autobiography. Can we move past Saturday mornings at home? LOVELY: Barack Obama gets it....but before he wasn't qualified, I think I'm going to go back to my Sudoku puzzle... FAITH AMMEN: my brother just brought me fried oreos!! yummy! LOVELY: never had one... I want to try one.... KMC: I am honest to God - going to plunge a fork through my hand... 10:33pm KMC: Falling sleep, the long-windedness already setting in... 10:30pm FAITH AMMEN: I wonder how many trees were slain to make those Biden signs? KMC: Bidenmania... The Billy Jeff speech:
9:27pm KMC: He's in at 23 minutes just under the 25 that I predicted - thank you very muchOk the live cover band - SUCKS LOVELY: you were pretty close Kevin Matlock: I don't even know how to process all of that LOVELY: I'm impressed, I know he spoke so fast KMC: Lies, Lies, Lies, Lies, Lies, Lies, Lies, Lies, Lies, Lies LOVELY: my head is spinning Matlock: Did you notice how much he compared Obama to himself? It was almost an ego trip for him 9:22pm KMC: Clinton lies so fast and furiously I can't keep up with all the inaccuracies.LOVELY: I knowMatlock: He makes my head spin LOVELY: he is so fast tonight, Slick willy, I'm sure it's second nature to him 9:20pm LOVELY: "assault on Science"??? what does that mean? "Katrina and cronyism??? KMC: that's his anti-anti-Global Warming slam LOVELY: like the LA Governor and New Orleans mayor who wouldn't accept Federal aid when it was offered???? KMC: Katrina - was roughly 80% the fault of the Democratic Mayor and Democratic Governor - who refused Federal help... and also allowed 2000 buses to sit while 1000 people died... Matlock: Does he know that we pay the active military "hazardous duty" pay while they are deployed? Is cronyism a word? LOVELY: No he doesn't know because he cut the military when he was in office and allowed World Trade to be bombed the first time... 9:17pm KMC: Another word Clinton should shy away from - "Example" - as in "look Daddy - oral sex isn't sex" LOVELY: it depends on what the meaning of "is" is...Matlock: And with Chelsea in the audience... 9:15pm LOVELY: And Bush has been the president to give the MOST aid to AfricaKMC: Ok the "stand up to them" line came off so flat - three day old sprite left without the top on has more fizz than the meaning he put into it... 9:13pm Matlock: "Obama's proven understanding"? How many days was he actually in office? 163 I think was the number!KMC: OK OK OK OK One thing Clinton should not be mentioning is an OATH LOVELY: I was just going to say that Matlock: How can he defend the Constitution if he refuses to defend life? 9:10pm KMC: GLOBAL WARMING???? REALLY???? MEMO to Bill: The earth has been cooling for six years Matlock: "the job of the next president is to restore American leadership around the world"? What does he think Bush has been doing in the Middle East?KMC : No that's what HIS policies did LOVELY: Barack Obama has shown a "clear grasp of foreign policy"?????Are you kidding?? Matlock: He wants to rebuild the military! What?! Does he know he is supposed to be talking about Obama? KMC: Not to mention the fact that at the end of the Clinton term the military was in the worst capacity of modern history... 9:08pm LOVELY: He loves Joe Biden....but does he love Barack Obama??? Matlock: and America will too... No, because his candidate lost. That's the first thing he addresses for any significant period of time LOVELY: The crowd is already eating out of his hand....9:06pm Matlock: "I give you one of the greatest presidents of the United States..." are you kidding? He was impeached! LOVELY: that doesnt count for anything KMC: one of only two to be actually LOVELY: Hillary is singing with the music KMC: digging the Hills and Chels lipsynch Matlock: I love the choice of music. Very appropriate. KMC: Ok - he was dictated to only have 10 minutes Im taking wagers on how long he goes KMC: I've got 25 who's in? LOVELY: I don't think he's ever spoken for only 10 minutes KMC: and he walked on at 9:02 blah blah blah LOVELY: he will say thank you for 10 minutes 8:34pm KMC: My buddy Amanda Carpenter is on O'Reilly as we speak and has just laid out the best reasons possible why the Ayers' ad is gonna hurt Obama. Basically she said it exposed the tactics to which Obama will go to - to SHUT DOWN - free speech - ESPECIALLY when its... honest!

Got GOD? Would like to honestly know... who the heck does Melissa Etheridge think GOD is? While she was "leading" the DNC in singing "God Bless America?"
I'm pretty sure she runs the other direction when God is usually entered into the debate - much less public policy... so why that song?
Could it be... placation?
Faux "faith" emphasis?
Hmmm, it does make you wonder...

He couldn't have done it without her... Did Hillary just attempt to secure her spot on the United States Supreme Court? Perhaps so. In one of the most unsurprising moments in the convention - given that the plan had been leaked to the media since SUNDAY that she would do it - Hillary Clinton called for the suspension of the count, and the affirmation of Barack Obama to be the nominee by voice vote. She had more votes cast for her. She had more supporters, and depending on how Florida and Michigan would've gone in the actual count, she could have had more votes on the floor at the convention. Knowing that Hillary doesn't do anything without triangulating something out of the deal for herself, one has to wonder - WHAT did she get? And WHEN does she get it? History in the making indeed, but isn't it sad - that it wasn't done the way every other Democratic nominee has been nominated in this brief century - or the previous? Even when I was the first pundit to predict that Obama would be the nominee - I never believed it would come down to hi-jinx, smoke-filled rooms, and the promise of Hillary looming large in the Supreme Court's future... It's actually a pretty slimy way for a man who is a descendant of several races to be back-doored into the nomination...

This is supposed to be Obama's convention. And yet all they (the networks who already are giving him the most favorable press any candidate has ever received) can talk about is how the Hillary mess has not been resolved. In addition Obama's team decides to RESPOND to a commercial and actually petition it to go away. I can't say that I blame them considering it is just this devastating: ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATING! UPDATE: What is the date of the New York Times quote given to Ayers when he said they wished they could've BOMBED more?

18 million votes peeps! 10 generic mentions of Obama, and all of them attached to her own accomplishments. She toted him around like Paris Hilton does her purse puppy.
She also rubbed his nose in his poo and put him back in his cage.
Hillary showed to the world tonight quite likely why she might have HAD more actual votes in the Democratic primary than Obama did. But aside from a couple of glancing blows (not head on collisions) on the "possible policies" of John McCain she did nothing to help her ticket at all.
Look its easy to come out and repeat the written script from the teleprompter that says "I support Barack Obama."
But in very Clintonian style and ease, Hillary just set herself up for the 2012 run when she very covertly helps the Obamas NOT make history in 2008.
End of story...

Hillary gave me no reason to vote for Obama. She only promoted her own agenda and bashed Bush and McCain. It was an egotistical, self-centered speech. I don't know why everyone keeps acting surprised that she gave a speech in support of Obama. What else could she have given? As the commentators are saying now, Bill's speech was censored due to content and he was given specific talking points. I believe Hillary was the same: she met her quota of "Vote for Obama" and that was it. Also, she's not going to make a mockery of herself by being tepid in the middle of a DNC. Honestly, the speech was about her and about women's rights, not about Obama, his record, his experience, his competency, or his vision. The speech did nothing for Obama except repeat his name a few times. Overall I was disappointed and am still waiting for someone to tell me what Obama has done and what he is really going to do. She also painted no picture of the greatness of America...she gave us no dream to follow. She bogged us down with sob stories, complained about Bush, and ranted about how healthcare is the elixir. I agree with the commentators that Clinton may have been a stronger VP candidate, especially in light of the fact that Biden himself said he would rather run with McCain than Obama.

"All I've fought for..." At about 9pm or so Faith and I will kick in with running "live blog" commentary here on the MuscleHead pages. The headliner for the night, HILLARY CLINTON. The big question is "will she or won't she" unite the troops? We shall see. Faith and I might have other guest bloggers joining us tonight - so check back around 9pm and throughout the evening for commentary you won't find anywhere else. YOU can join the discussion if you are so led in the comments to this post as well... 11:23pm LOVELY: Hillary did the bare minimum in her speech--she did what she was expected to do, but never gave him more than absolutely necessary on her part. The speech was much more about her and everything she had achieved as a woman running for senator and president--tying it in with the 19th amendment, and breaking glass ceilings, etc. etc. She did not come out in overwhelming support for Obama--all she said was that people should vote for him so McCain doesn't get into office. There was no acclaim for who he is as a person, no support of his character or ability to be president. She did the bare minimum. It was all about her and that wasn't surprising.11:18pm Matlock: Her obvious point was to unite the party. But it did not come off like that at all. She talked about Obama very little. The speech really was more about her. It think her motivation had to be out of some deal she and Obama have struck. After all the personal attacks she has lost that directly contradict what she said tonight, how can she not have different motives. Of course she wants Obama to win, he is a Democrat who can put her in a position of power. I think she did what she had to do but no more. If I was a hard core Hillary supporter I would not have changed my position because she gave me no reason to. Her argument was to "do it for her" or for the American people. She didn't address any issues or anything that would change my mind specifically about Obama.11:09pm LOVELY: This speech was all about her and what she's done, and then she just threw in "oh yeah, vote for Barack Obama" here and thereMatlock: Kevin, I'm thinking more a Supreme Court position LOVELY: totally disconnected from the rest of her speech and the points she was making FAITH AMMEN: Can't believe she said Biden would be a good VP when he's the one who said "“I think he (Obama) can be ready but right now I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.” 11:06pm Matlock: They story of America is not about defying the odds, it's about freedom Hillary personal freedom from government interferance... LOVELY: What does this story about Harriet Tubman have to do with Hillary and Obama? LOVELY: Like the choice to let your child be born and not aborted...Matlock: It's funny that her speech about women's freedom and voting rights and empowering women is to support a man for president. 11:03pm Matlock: Why is she asking if they want "more" of things? They are democrats! They fundamentally want "more" government!FAITH AMMEN: Can anyone name ONE program that excels more when it is run by the government rather than private citizens? 11:01pm LOVELY: Democrats know how to do this: we tax the He#$ out of the American public...Matlock: "change from the ground up" would be starting with the family. I thought she was against empowering the family, she just lets the government take the family's job LOVELY: Hillary: It's the Health Care plan, stupid... 10:59pm FAITH AMMEN: Who are they supposed to vote for? Oh yeah! Finally, after 20 minutes she says Obama's name...Matlock: I love how they strategically placed all those different signs: Unity, Hillary, Obama LOVELY: She said global warming... Are we even calling it that anymore? KMC: MEMO to HILLARY: The Globe has been cooling for the last six years... LOVELY: I thought it was now climate change FAITH AMMEN: What new green technologies? OH...the ones that require causing food shortages in 3rd world countries because we are increasing the cost of corn? 10:58pm FAITH AMMEN: Who are they supposed to vote for? Oh yeah! Finally, after 20 minutes she says Obama's name...Matlock: I love how they strategically placed all those different signs: Unity, Hillary, Obama... 10:56pm LOVELY: Yeah we have to buy oil from the Saudis because we won't drill in our own landFAITH AMMEN: (What do these people know about the middle class?!) LOVELY: Why should parents know that the government will take care of their children? Matlock: Make college affordable again? When did it switch from being affordable to being not? It has always been hard to pay for college. LOVELY: What about the God-given potential of unborn children? Do they have rights? If she mentions children and the rights they should have one more time I'm going to puke... 10:49pm FAITH AMMEN: When did coloring books for 3 year olds and being the World's Doctor become America's priority?KMC: SEE... its still all about her Matlock: If Hillary believes so much in the power of family why does she cripple the family's ability to govern itself? Leave the family alone Hillary. If they are so pivotal, let them function without taking away parents rights to parent their kids. LOVELY: What do any of these stories have to do with why people should elect Obama? KMC: See Hillary SHOULD have been the nominee. She knew the number of states we have. 10:47pm LOVELY: Michelle is all business tonightMatlock: The first thing she talks about is uniting. There is no doubt what her priority is. Do you think she sees Hillary as competition... as a woman? Michelle is the wife while Hillary is in the spotlight. LOVELY: She only "advocates" for children already born FAITH AMMEN: The things she supports are not things that government have other or should ever be about... KMC: I'm not BUYING it... this is still all about her...
10:46pm KMC: THIS IS A CLINTON Crowd... me thinks the Obama camp noticed that ovation... Michelle got bupkis last night by comparison...KMC: Look at Michelle's eyes; watch the look on her face 10:43pm LOVELY: Yeah--all the babies at the end of her video were ones that were allowed to be bornFAITH AMMEN: (Tell the woman to put a skirt on! Pretty sure Bill likes legs...) KMC : It looks like she's going sans podium... and went with... wait for it - THE ORANGE! LOVELY: Opposite of blue on the color wheelCouldn't stand out more Matlock: At least she would let the born ones live, Obama wouldn't even do that. KMC: Podium appeared...
10:40pm Matlock: Do they really want little girls to look up to Hillary? "She's calm, cool, and collected"... have these people watched her talk about Obama on national television? There was nothing calm, cool, and collected about that. LOVELY: They make it sound like she is the only female role model for girls... LOVELY: What about all the mothers who quit their jobs and ambitions in the world to stay home and raise their kids?FAITH AMMEN: Technically, she has done nothing but campaign and run for Senator in a state she doesn't live in... Hillary believes in "God-Given Potential..." What about God-given life? 10:35pm Matlock: How will Obama's plan give us energy independence? Does he plan to drill in Alaska...?If he says "4 more years" one more time... KMC: Billy smooched all the girls in his skybox Matlock: He gets them interested by making his speech interactive. It's a speakers crutch. Just make them stand up and shout, raise their hands up and shout LOVELY: The Petrol dictators? Are you kidding? It's such a slap in the face when these guys say "God bless America." They don't really want God to bless America. They want to take God out of every part of America... FAITH AMMEN: Amen!
10:33pm KMC: The Governor of Montana is speaking... FAITH AMMEN: "There isn't enough oil offshore?" What kind of moron is he?KMC: He's also a horrible teleprompter reader... LOVELY: does he mean the corn that is being used now and driving up the cost of food? Nice bolo tie by the way - he's on national tv--couldn't he put a real tie on? Is that supposed to be a fashion statement shoutout to his country peeps? 10:32pm KMC: Faith, Matlock, and the Lovely Bride are all back and ready to go! 10:26pm LOL!!!! Howard Wolfson just on with Megyn Kelly, "Mark Warner was a tremendously MISSED opportunity, and went far too long." OUCH!!! From the more or less "Karl Rove" of the Clinton camp... 10:20pm KMC: Billy boy has arrived... kissing and groping, er hugging, every person - er woman in his skybox... 9:59pm KMC: One pundit after another continue to slough off the "Ayers/Obama" connection - even though they have given speeches as recently as two years ago, and Ayers said on 9.11.01 - that he wished his terrorist group could have killed MORE people and bombed MORE buildings when he bombed the capital... This acting as though it shouldn't be talked about ignores the issue that they had RECENT relationship with each other, and Ayers worked on Obama's behalf in raising money, hosting brunches for Obama since 2000. That to me is NOT so distant history... 9:50pm KMC: While Warner must have been so boring, Alan Colmes started debating Rudy Giuliani on FNC. Rudy ate his lunch on the Ayers' issue. Ayers SAID on 9/11/2001 - that he wished HIS terror group had caused MORE damage. On 9/11!!! As we were having our hearts ripped out of us watching 3000 of our fellow countrymen suffer the cruel deaths at the hands of terrorists. And Ayers - wishes he could have done even more... And HE held a fund-raiser for Obama... And HE had Obama serve on the board of the organization HE founded... And Obama called him respectable and mainstream... Give it up Dems - it's a legit issue, and you darn well know it! 9:45pm KMC: Warner sucks so bad - that FOX is cutting his speech... LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's the freakin KEYNOTE!
9:41pm KMC: Oh boy... "the race of the future..." what is this Seabiscuit... YAWN.... 9:39pm MATLOCK: I still don't understand how they shot to the top. He became a senator then immediately decided to run for president. They really didn't climb up the success latter, they shot up like a freight train...KMC: Well it started by them being able to go to PRINCETON and HARVARD then both getting to attend Harvard Law. Then he got to teach law, and she went into the professional world... and both did well financially MATLOCK: Are they both just really smart? She did come from a lower income family. KMC: She came from essentially a black middle class family... Any family that had a mother and father in the black community in that day as in this - had many advantages... 9:35pm KMC: I just realized that when Michelle and Barack were shooting their way to the top of the success chain, and taking advantage of every opportunity this country gave them... did all of it with GOP Presidents serving 26 of the last 38 years... LOVELY: Interesting point!
9:30pm KMC: Thats not a "maverick" that's a sidekick... wow - how long did he work on that one...KMC: Casey's a real stemwinder! The moron keeps stepping on his own lines.. MATLOCK: the 4 months rather than 4 years... I wonder who realized Bush has 4 months. That's impressive!
9:25pm KMC: Senator Casey - speaking as a "pro-life" Democrat - which is in itself funny given that he has not cast a vote on the life issue in his elected life. His father - who was ardently pro-life was BANNED from speaking in the 1992 Convention because of his pro-life beliefs. (Says a lot about the "tolerance" in the DNC huh?) Tolerance to Democrats is agreement with them. If you disagree then you need to be shut up, and put away... LOVELY: how can dems talk about having "deep faith"???? I don't get it considering the values they champion...9:14pm KMC: Dick Morris wholeheartedly believes Hillary DOES have a point to make, and trying to one up - not Obama but likely Biden... and leaves open the possibility that Billy Boy will behave badly tomorrow night... DUH!8:26pm KMC: (Early comment) The problem with the "Obama narrative" is that both Barack and Michelle have succeeded because of America's opportunities that are available to everyone. THUSLY following a politic of dependency upon government is an unsellable message...

WRONG WAY BUMP! Despite Michelle Obama's best efforts last night - voters aren't buying it, not yet anyway. The Rasmussen poll - which has been the most accurate poll in the last four election cycle (due to his updated polling methods) released snapshot results from the overnights showing that Obama is not even winning his own nomination process:
Among all voters surveyed, 43% say Clinton would do better against the Republican candidate, while 41% prefer Obama, who this week is expected to become the first African-American nominated as the presidential candidate of a major political party.
And among democrat women on the issue of whether Hillary should be on the ticket: Nearly half of Democratic women (47%) say Barack Obama should have chosen Hillary Clinton for his running mate instead of Senator Joseph Biden as the former First Lady prepares to speak tonight at the Democratic National Convention. Thirty-nine percent (39%) disagree.
Scott Rasmussen was also just on FOX relaying the finding that every day since naming Biden to the ticket - Obama's poll numbers have dripped lower.

"And this is the cause of my life, new hope, that we will break the old gridlock, and guarantee that every American, north, south, east, west, young, old, will have decent quality health-care as a fundamental right and not a privilege. We can meet this challenge with Barack Obama, yes we can, and finally yes we will." These were the rousing words, spoken by Senator Edward Kennedy, that lit up the faces of the attendees to the opening night of the Democratic National Convention. (It was also the only policy pledge made over the duration of the entire night.) Senator Kennedy's words, like so many who pledge government freebies, sounded spectacular, generous, even utopian. The challenge of course ends up in the reality that in order to achieve what he promises Senator Kennedy knows that the quality of care will diminish and the cost for everyone will increase. Nothing is given away for free, and no one should have a universal right to health. Our health, like our bank account, is something we need to steward. That responsibility begins with us, not the Government. Senator Kennedy also left out one more important aspect of the matter. The law already guarantees emergency care for all Americans. So no one is presently denied life-saving medical care, though Senator Kennedy's candidate for President Barack Obama did once radically vote to deny such care to children who had been born.

"...and (finally) that's why I love America." Huh? Did I miss something? I know she said the words but she also said just prior to that "it is FINALLY when thread of history" meets this "new challenge of hope." This was in essence was her "I can finally be proud of my country" just said a different way.
Chris Wallace on FOX talked about how this night might have been perhaps, "a huge waste of time."
And on substance you have to agree with him.
Nothing new was learned about Obama, his beliefs, or his far-left excessive progressive views.
Sure there was a lot of "Leave it to Beaver." Heck she even went so far as to imply that she as a woman needed a man to protect and provide for her.
Can someone please call NOW to see if she needs to have her feminist creds revoked?
It was a red state speech... but it was articulated by the wife of the most deeply blue socialist candidate to ever run for President - who just picked the most far left Vice President nominee ever.
Not only that it lacked a message.
James Carville summed it up best, "If this party has a message, it has done a h*ll of a job in hiding it tonight."

The "MuscleHead" Coverage Team At about 9pm or so Faith and I will kick in with running "live blog" commentary here on the MuscleHead pages. The headliner for the night, Michelle "never been proud of my country in my entire adult life until my husband started winning a primary" Obama. YOU can join the discussion if you are so led in the comments to this post as well... PRE-PRIME TIME STARTER TOPIC: Is it just ME or do you think that the Obama campaign is really protesting too much, making too many statements, and too many public offerings stating that "Unity" is not a problem. I mean if it isn't - why do you have to make so many statements claiming so? Thoughts? **Even more coverage - same low price** Faith and I have both invited our roomates to join us in the "Live Blog" tonight. So you will get the unique honor of also hearing from the Lovely Bride, and Ms. Lindsay Matlock - what follows is their honest feelings on the night. 11:16pm LOVELY: Overall, I think the evening went well for the Obama camp. I think that Kennedy's speech was well delivered and pointed toward the ideals in the forefront of the campaign. Michelle also redeemed herself from her previous negative images--positive, caring mother and wife.
That was her big hurdle, and so this speech was mostly about her and where she and Obama came from--not about Obama's policies or platform. Tonight didn't tell anyone anything about what exactly he believes or what all the changes are going to be that they all keep talking about.
Except for the whole "healthcare" platform embraced by Ted Kennedy. This was a whitewashing of the Obama family; a "we aren't that different from you" story with none of the controversial or elite parts of their history included in what was said. It was meant to be reassuring, and I think it only spoke to people already on their side. 11:04pm FAITH AMMEN: If the convention was a self-help conference or a platform for motivational speakers, I would say the DNC has been successful so far. When it comes to having a real candidate with real experience and real solutions, they failed miserably.
Tonight I was inspired to vote for Obama because Teddy Kennedy has cancer and because Obama is a "normal" guy and because he bought ice cream for his wife.
The stories were a nice touch, but it quickly turned into a sickening sweet feeling. I don't feel like I know the "presidential" Obama any better or why I should support his candidacy any more than I did 4 hours ago. I think all the personal stories were at complete odds with any policies that Obama support.
This is what happens when a Senator who was in office for less than 200 days before he decided to run for President of the greatest country on earth. I would hire tonight's Democrats for my next inspirational speaking gig but not for Commander in Chief! 10:59pm KMC: What is Juan Williams talking about in regard to not ever having seen "such a thing" in terms of a black woman addressing the nation at a national convention? Did we forget that Condi Rice - did - TWICE?
10:56pm KMC: The "hi daddy" stuff was cute... once...
10:54pm KMC: Isn't it wonderful that Michelle Obama can describe such a beautiful relationship with her own daughters? Isn't it wonderful that she can describe the tenderness with which Obama felt the tug of fatherhood with all seriousness. I guess it's really good that neither of them were partially delivered, or discovered to have Downs syndrome - because it would be obvious that he would have let them die in soiled utility closets... 10:49pm KMC: Major canard there - women were not being paid differently in Illinois than men... She made it appear that he did something that he did not do... LOVELY: What does a "world class" pre-school education look like? 10:48pm KMC: Im sorry what did she say? Why does she love this country? Because the thread of history has now found this new found hope?LOVELY: I don't get how you can talk about working hard to achieve your dreams in life on one hand, and believe that government should supply all your needs on the other hand--the two ideas are contradicting and cancel each other out. 10:45pm KMC: The "make it if you try" mantra is NOT a talking point that is well appreciated in the Jesse Jackson camp. I have to believe that the Obamas' emphasis on personal responsibility is not something that the old guard civil rights crew is going to be pleased by...
LOVELY: And when you are working hard to reach your dreams, the government taxes the heck out of you and discourages you from trying to earn as much as possible 10:41pm FAITH AMMEN: "You work hard for what you want in life"...then why do you support your husband's policy of a big brother government who gives unlimited handouts? 10:40pm KMC: Is Michelle a feminist? She needs a protector?LOVELY: Michelle had a mother and a father, and her mother stayed at home to raise her and her brother, but that shouldn't be the ideal standard for families? 10:35pm FAITH AMMEN: Michelle Obama pales in comparison to so many average women who don't get propped up as heroes...My mom gave up her engineering job at Xerox to stay at home with me...she's worked at homeless shelters, taught english to refugees, takes lunch to the elderly (through meals on wheels)...why is Michelle so special? 10:32pm FAITH AMMEN: This is so canned, scripted, and forced. There is no genuineness, no thought provoking images or illustrations, no appeals to reality...just 100% sappy music and sappy lines wrapped up in sappy movies... 10:29pm FAITH AMMEN: There's no real examples of who Michelle Obama is...just "she's so nice..." "she's so compassionate..."LOVELY: Michelle is wearing a very tiny peace sign necklace in her video...is she trying to make a statement, but hoping no one will notice it? 10:25pm - **Michelle Obama Video** FAITH AMMEN: Michelle falls for ice cream!KMC: AWWW - he bought her ice cream and it proved he knew how to treat a woman... yeah - she's definitely NOT an apple pie girl LOVELY: Buying a girl ice cream=knowing how to treat a woman.... I think there's a little more to it than that 9:53pm KMC: Just got the word that Don Miller - emergent church guru - will be offering the closing benediction tonight... evidently not all that concerned with associating his "Christianity" with Barack Obama's infanticide...
Come on you emergent homies - explain that one... 9:44pm KMC: what is CNN doing? | | |
