I know that conventional thinking says that NY Attorney General Eliot Spitzer is going to run away with the governorship of the Empire State this fall. The same thinking says that Hillary Clinton is untouchable for the U.S. Senate seat. And if money is any indication then conventional thinking may be right.
Spitzer has already spent $10 million on television and says he has $16 million on hand. His opponent from the GOP and Conservative parties - John Faso has $1.6 million. That makes the odds 10 to 1.
For the U.S. Senate seat its even more intimidating Hillary has $22 million on hand. Her opponent with both GOP and Conservative backing - John Spencer has $640,000.
This is where MuscleHead radio becomes all important. The belief is that a vote is not going to make any difference, but message means everything. There truly could not be any more direct polar opposites to the hard core liberalism that Spitzer and Clinton represent than the proud distinct conservative perspectives that Faso and Spencer embody.
We are inviting Spitzer and Clinton to appear in actual debates with Faso and Spencer on MuscleHead Radio. And in the meantime Spencer and Faso will become household names as we get to know them even better in the days ahead.
One thing is abundantly clear now however. If Spitzer and Clinton run the table in November. New York's already fomenting economic slide will be hastened faster than can be stopped. Get to know John Faso for NY Governor, and John Spencer for U.S. Senate. I firmly believe that you will be glad you did.
I know I am!
P.S. Just realized that Spencer has raised in excess of $3 million - to bad the AP didn't report it. He's also blogging... HUGH HEWITT please note!

Officially I'm still on vacation for like the next six hours. But I have gotten several inquiries as to why the Saturday line-up of columnists are still up at TownHall and the reason that I and George Will, Paul Jacob, Doug Giles and others are not.
Anticipating this question Senior Editor at TownHall, Jonathan Garthwaite e-mailed me last night. There has been a recurring problem with the servers so that Jonathan has not been able to post the new columns for the Sunday. He and the others are working hard to fix the quirks and our columns should post sometime soon.

Do they have everything necessary to defeat these combined forces? When do we get involved? And how would we feel if Mexico City sent 1402 missles at us in a period of two weeks?
I'm genuinely curious...

I'm still officially on vacation but wanted you to be aware of this really nice write up on the new book. Coming up next week I will officially begin the formal media for the book. First stop will be Hugh Hewitt's national broadcast, and we are looking forward to that a great deal... but in the mean time...
I continue to be thankful each time I see such positive reaction to my upcoming book. Today FrontPage Magazine which was founded by David Horowitz the former 60's liberal activist featured an interview with me on the issue of liberalism and its growing impact on society.
FrontPageMagazine.com | July 25, 2006 Frontpage Interview’s guest today is Kevin Mccullough, the host of a daily talk radio show from New York. He writes a syndicated column that appears at TownHall.com. He keeps a daily blog at http://muscleheadrevolution.com. He is the author of the new book Musclehead Revolution: Overturning Liberalism With Commonsense Thinking.
FP: Kevin Mccullough, welcome to Frontpage Interview.
Mccullough: Thank you. This is a real honor given that I am a fan of Mr. Horowitz and Frontpage Magazine.
FP: You’ve coined the term "Muscleheads". What does it mean?
Mccullough: Well, we recognize that the brain is an organ but we think it needs to be worked like a muscle. My son is in the gym three times a week and he has these bulging biceps. That's what we want to do to the mind - muscle it up. Building up the brain will get it "cut, ripped" -- however they term it today. Our society is engaged in a thinking deficit so we want to move people in the direction of exercising that mind.
FP: Ok, and exercising the mind will, it appears, help people see the downfall of liberalism. What is the downfall?
Mccullough: The downfall of liberalism is that it leaves the person who believes in it with truly nothing of substance to believe in. Liberalism by definition defies rules, boundaries, limits, and especially absolutes. Liberals have nothing but disdain for faith, truth, and the possibility of knowing moral absolutes. What they are left with as a result is a worldview that not only does not explain the world they live in, but it also gives them no answers as to how to deal with it.
As a result, Liberals’ views must constantly be corrected, clarified, or moderated to try to remain consistent in their worldview. Average folks who don't much follow politics see this. They see how confusing it is. And while some of "middle America" has seen liberals call conservatives "radicals" or "fundamentalists" - they have also been able to see that liberals have no consistent stream of rational thought that makes society stronger.
I argue in the book that one of the biggest differences between conservatives - if not the defining difference is that conservatives believe "there is a God." Liberals believe "they are God." The difference in the two viewpoints is mighty important to understand. One says, "God is bigger than me, authoritative over me, beyond me, outside of me, someone I must submit to." Liberals say, "God is someone I can manipulate, fold up, put in my pocket. I can pull God out when I need him, and I can put him away when he is inconvenient." Rejection of truth and absolutes leads to confusion for liberals and ultimately even they know that.
FP: What power does liberalism hold over society?
Mccullough: Despite the fact of what I just mentioned about their belief system, the liberal worldview (or lack of one) holds an amazing sway over society. In America it is particularly gruesome because it has been morphed and mixed with this idea of American freedom. "Freedom" to the average liberal is to be able to do, "whatever I want - with no limits." But that's not freedom - that's anarchy.
Look at some of the liberal professors today - the "Ward Churchills" - if you will. He believed he did nothing wrong in forging information about his past history to help him land a cushy job at a major university, and once there long enough - and believing he could no longer be touched, he begins to speak things that were blatantly absurd. Why? Because he felt he "had the right to do as he wished," even if that meant calling the victims of 9/11 Nazi officers. This is not an expression of real freedom - it is a perversion of it.
FP: So how can the average American fight the destructive forces of liberalism?
Mccullough: Well that's why I wrote the book, ten commonsense steps people should be implementing in their lives, so that whether it is in their local school district or town council, or all the way to Washington DC, Hollywood, and Academia in America - we can begin to truly express what we believe and help shape the culture as a result.
FP: In your book you discuss men and women being equal but different. Can you talk about that a bit?
Mccullough: Would be glad to.
In the late 1960's there was this mentality that we should live by whatever our most base impulse was. The "If it feels good do it" mentality expressed itself in the popular culture.
Those who were kids in those days have become the decision makers of today and it has led to some pretty tragic results. But one of the most damaging ideas to come out of that time period is this idea of "sameness" between men and women. And my chapter on men and women addresses this. There is a great lie in the world today - that men and women are exactly the same. There are also a number of groups who prosper from propagating this idea -- abortionists, radical homosexual activists, and all of those who wish to see society reinvented. The great lie that they must put forward is that men and women are exactly the same, capable of exactly the same possibilities. We are taught this from pre-school through grad-school and it becomes hard overtime to not fall into this trap. But the truth is we aren't the same and in fact there is a better way to think about the genders.
Men and women are in fact equal. It is a much more important idea. It demands respect and dignity in what it conveys. It says that each man and each woman hold distinct value in the eyes of God and man. It holds that dignity is something that should always be expected when interacting with each other.
Most liberals try to argue that equality and sameness are essentially the same idea. But it is easy to see that they aren't. Even our biology says so. But think about the consequences if we do not recognize the difference - or as I like to put it - the distinctness of the two genders. We begin to think that two mommies can provide everything that a mommy and a daddy could. We start to believe that it perhaps it is even unfair for women to nurse their children. We start to misunderstand the ideas that by nature we know do not make sense. And when that happens, roles are confused, children understand less about themselves and we damage the next generation.
I go into a lot more detail in the book, but I think, at least I hope that give you some idea of what I'm aiming at.
FP: Why do you think liberals are more prone to demonize and blame America in the terror war and spend so much time and energy excusing and downplaying Islamist evil?
Mccullough: My short answer is that they fundamentally cannot see the difference, or if they see it they do not understand it, between genuine evil - i.e. radical Islamo-fascism that takes the lives of innocents, and the trumped up supposed evils in their own mind.
They would be more quick to label as evil most Church-going evangelical Christians who have accepted the basic teachings of the Bible as the guidance for their own life, as they would radical Islamists that have or wish to take the lives of people innocent of any aggression toward them.
The problem for liberals is that if they take the time to acknowledge the great evil that we are engaged with in our time - Islamist radicalism - then that way of thinking then leads them to some sort of an absolute moral values system. Liberals are exceedingly resistant to such worldviews. Understanding that some things are right or wrong, good or evil - is as basic to the everyday American as getting out of bed in the morning. Yet to liberal elites it shatters their ability to come up with the myopic utopian and Marxist views that drives them. Everything about God, commonsense thinking, morality, and fighting for virtues that are good - are completely foreign to them.
The problem truly is that they have been able to foist this vast wasteland of ineffective thinking upon the society as a whole. So from the halls of Congress, to the bench of the Judiciary, to the classrooms of Academia, to the big screen and small screen of Hollywood, this ever morphing "everything is relative" type of thinking pervades.
The reinsertion of common sense based on a strong moral foundation that gives one the ability to take on life - and be successful is what my book is all about and in doing so liberalism will be defeated - because when held up to the light of rational thought, liberalism just doesn't make sense.
FP: Kevin Mccullough, thank you for joining Frontpage Interview.
Mccullough: It's my pleasure, did I mention what a big fan I am? Thank you so much for having me.

Having lived through two of the toughest heat waves in history - one in Texas as a child, the other in Chicago as an adult, I have nothing but empathy for the residents of the Queens boro of my beloved New York City. And I have to say the incredibly slow response to the matter is a rather sluggish demonstration of Mayor Bloomberg and his buddies at Con Ed.
Bloomberg has not missed the moment for preening though. Visiting the boro - during daylight hours - for the last three days in a row, it makes one wonder if it matters.
Yesterday he was asking residents not to get angry and to wait till later to point fingers. Then he boards his taxpayer limo and heads back to his cooly comfortable Manhattan residence.
I do think it's unreasonable as some residents were calling for to demand that the power company give them free electricity for the next six months. But I feel every ounce of their frustration. In the Chicago heat wave that I lived through dozens of people died.
And those are the headlines none of us want to see start happening in Queens...
Come on Mayor - instead of protecting your buddies at Con Ed - ride their case a little. With 100,000 people out of power - the threat to life is huge. So please stop posing, and start leading...

This year the New York borough of Queens is having a nasty black-out. With no power, hot temperatures, and a lot of people in very small places my thoughts are with my many listeners who live in this proud historic section of New York.
Last year when I went on vacation Hurricane Katrina hit...
The year previous Tsunami happened when I was on Christmas vacation days...
Two years previous - the entire Northeastern part of the United States underwent the most significant power loss in the history of the nation...
These things also all happened while I was in California. Maybe I should stop coming to the Golden State.

I'm reporting live from a previously undisclosed location. Let's just it is as practically far away as you can possibly get from New York - while still being in the same country.
My listners know that I am officially on vacation for a week. My readers are just now finding that out. But while the Lovely Bride slept this morning I thought I would sneak down to the local StarBucks and sign on for a bit of blogging/catching up.
I was rather irked that I couldn't log on to the Drudge Report at the first Starbucks I stopped at. No worries there is another only two blocks from here.
So that was a few minutes ago. Now to set the stage these are the only two Starbucks in the thriving little yet very prominent downtown city that I am presently in. It is a town that is known for its very wealthy and very elite who own homes in this area. We come here simply because the Lovely Bride says it's one of her favorite places on earth.
Now at my second and last Starbucks stop in said city, I alas, again can not sign on to said Drudge Report. The message I kept getting at both locations went something along the lines of "Access to this site has been restricted by the owner of this network. Please request permission from your network administrator before accessing."
It seemed one of the more strange error messages I've ever seen - so I asked the guy behind the counter. At first he played like he was busy, and finally out of frustration, he explained that he had no say in the matter and that the manager (of both stores) would be in after 10am if I wished to stay and bring it up then.
Again a strange response.
So now I really want to know... Did the Starbucks stores in one of the hometowns of Brad Pitt and Oprah Winfrey ban access to the Drudge Report? Curiously awakened minds now want to know.
By the way - since I am on vacation - I'm not waiting till 10am PST to find out. But I will be back tomorrow...

I said immediately following the departure of Dan "The Memos Are Real" Rather from the CBS Evening News - that if the Murrow Network really wanted to see an improvement in the ratings that they should go in a completely different direction from EVERYTHING being done in the nightly news cycle.
I did not mean to go hire yet another reliably liberal anchor with yet another dedicated pedantic style and self-superiority complex. But they hired Perky Katie anyway...
Shep Smith is the only cable anchor to have ever beaten the networks for a Prime Time ratings slot, and in the news hour - across the nation he dominates cable news. The fast paced style of his presentation and the truly - lack of idealogy that he presents with is refreshing.
Shep is also presently in the middle east - anchoring his coverage from there each night.
As of this morning - Katie won't go...

This was sent to me today by one of my MySpace friends. I know there is a lot of controversy about the MySpace universe, but I made the decision to go there and be a source of truth in the midst of 93,000,000 users. At the bottom of this post you can join my MySpace friend's list, so feel free.
Last week I was in Atlanta , Georgia attending a conference. While I was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to clap and cheer. I immediately turned around and witnessed one of the greatest act's of patriotism I have ever seen.
Moving thru the terminal was a group of soldiers in their camo's, as they began heading to their gate everyone (well almost everyone) was abruptly to their feet with their hands waving and cheering. When I saw the soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and cheered for it hit me. I'm not alone. I'm not the only red blooded American who still loves this country and supports our troops and their families.
Of course I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young unsung heroes who are putting their lives on the line everyday for us so we can go to school, work and home without fear or reprisal. Just when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our service men and women a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old, ran up to one of the male soldiers. He kneeled down and said "hi," the little girl then she asked him if he would give something to her daddy for her. The young soldier, he didn't look any older than maybe 22 himself, said he would try and what did she want to give to her daddy. Then suddenly the little girl grabbed the neck of this soldier, gave him the biggest hug she could muster and then kissed him on the cheek.
The mother of the little girl, who said her daughters name was Courtney, told the young soldier that her husband was a Marine and had been in Iraq for 11 months now. As the mom was explaining how much her daughter, Courtney, missed her father, the young soldier began to tear up. When this temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all of the soldiers huddled together for a brief second. Then one of the other servicemen pulled out a military looking walkie-talkie. They started playing with the device and talking back and forth on it.
After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over to Courtney, bent down and said this to her, "I spoke to your daddy and he told me to give this to you." He then hugged this little girl that he had just met and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He finished by saying "your daddy told me to tell you that he loves you more than anything and he is coming home very soon."
The mom at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young soldier stood to his feet he saluted Courtney and her mom. I was standing no more than 6 feet away from this entire event unfolded. As the soldiers began to leave, heading towards their gate, people resumed their applause. As I stood there applauding and looked around, their were very few dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in one last act of selflessness, turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney with a tear rolling down his cheek.
We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families and thank God for them and their sacrifices. At the end of the day, it's good to be an American.
WOW! I love my nation!

For those of you who listened to the broadcast yesterday, you heard for yourself the shock that parents had in responding to this story from Miami Dade Florida.
The school district there has decided that the 5 year old boy that the story refers to as "Pat" should wear dresses to school because he has supposedly been diagnosed with the supposed condition called "gender dysphoria."
According to the story this child supposedly determined at age 3 that he "hated his penis, identified more with his mother, and began refusing to wear boys clothes."
At age 3?!?!?!?!
I don't know about you but I think most children have hard time telling the difference between their penis and their thumb at age three. Much less do they know anything that's different between them and their mommy or their sisters.
Sorry - but I don't buy the diagnosis, neither did my listeners - listen to the podcast.
But to the substance... 1. Any child may cling more to their Mother when they are this young in life. Mothers are the nurturing parent - even their bodies indicate it. If the child was 15 and still wanting to cling to Mommy - then you have a problem, but distinguishing between a normal child who "identifies" with their mommy as opposed to their daddy and the child in this story is nearly impossible - especially at age 3. 2. Any child aged 3-5 that "refuses to wear boys clothes..." has only one problem - the fact that some parent decided to go AWOL and let the kid start making decisions for himself that he is not prepared to make. 3. And to hating his penis... utterly ridiculous.
It's my firm belief that not all is as it appears in the story. And discerning people need to ask the penetrating questions of the actors involved. This garbage looks much more like an agenda driven group of people - attempting to push the boundaries and make the rest of us accept it.
And I for one - don't!

You can see it so plainly. When President Bush believes something he does not change his mind. To liberals who are so willing to change with the direction of the wind this is a stunning thing. They do not comprehend how someone in their line of work (politics) is actually unwilling to moderate positions. But since liberals are some of the least principled people on earth - by definition - this should surprise no one.
President Bush is giving them more evidence of this over embryonic stem cells. Even if Senate Republicans decide to abandon their principles - the President stated publicly yesterday that he will not. He WILL NOT sign a stem cell bill now being debated in the Senate. And he underlined the words WILL NOT SIGN, just for emphasis.
They just don't get it...

I'm not at all surprised... Tom Kean has been telling my audience for the past six months about what seperates him from senator-because-I'm-John-Corzine's-lapdog Robert Menedez.
Kean wants the borders sealed. Menedez wants amnesty. Kean supports the Bush tax cuts that have the economy humming, Menendez voted against all of them. Kean wants to fight the war on terror and win, Menendez is your classic cut-and-runner. Kean supports the ban on partial-birth abortion, and parental notification, Menendez wants to give abortionists the right to take the child's life late in the third trimester - and without the parents knowing. Tom Kean believes the voters have the right to decide the issue of marriage in New Jersey, Menendez wants the gay activists, and judges to do it.
It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans something like 1.85 to 1, that Tom Kean has taken the lead for a reason. According to the latest Quinnipiac Poll he now leads 40%-38% and is surging in the most important voter groups.
Donate to his campaign and help end the liberals culture of corruption in the Garden State. It will be money well spent.
