My good friend, and in many ways my mentor Hugh Hewitt has just posted this on his blog here at TownHall:

Rick Warren is catching some flak for inviting Senator Obama to a conference on AIDS, in Africa and around the world. Rick's a friend, so you can discount this if you'd like, but it seems to me that setting aside political differences --even on crucial issues like protecting the unborn-- is certainly appropriate when the focus is on the prevention of a deadly disease and relief for a epidemic devastated continent.

Warren has done far, far more for the lost and the least than 99.9% of Americans, and extending an opportunity for Senator Obama to speak at a conference on AIDs is not a mistake to corrected but instead an example to be followed.

It is hard for me to write and say the following things because of my deep and abiding respect for Hugh, he was the one who practically forced me to begin blogging, he elevated my visibility to the national scene by allowing me to be a regular fill in host for his nationally syndicated radio show a few years back. And whenever I am able, I always try to carve out time to meet with him whenever we are even close to being in the same region of the U.S.

But he's wrong. He's completely wrong...

Hugh may not be aware of Warren's actual denials and outright deceptions in his attempt to cover his tracks on the Syria issue from a couple of weeks back. But Hugh's two paragraph defense of Warren doesn't cut it on several layers.

Rick has convinced Hugh that allowing for "difference on the issue of abortion" will not impact the common good that can be achieved in striving for the prevention or eradication of HIV/AIDS. Yet it does! And to not say so betrays poor things about the mind of those who make such justifications.

The worldview that Obama has - shares nothing in common with biblically minded folks. And Obama's professed compassion for those at risk of HIV/AIDS is superficial at best - if Obama doesn't recognize the black genocide taking place in our nation's cities. Put another way - if Obama does not believe in the need to rescue the most innocent and vulnerable among us, if he instead believes that they are no worth fighting for. What insight could he have as to the need to save life half a world away. (Besides the fact that he's running for President and needs footage from America's most prominent evangelical auditorium...)

Hugh's defense of his friend Rick Warren (a man who has appeared, along with his wife -on my show raising needed monies to assist in the fight against HIV/AIDS in cooperation with myself, and my listenrs) rests on the "good works" that Rick has done, and those in abundance.

But that speaks nothing of the wisdom, or the lack thereof inviting the most pro-death, and pro-homosexual Senator from the United States Senate to speak to Christian leaders, and Saddleback members on how he would solve the AIDS crisis. Obama is a vapid voice with empty morality on the issue. His political affiliation is irrelevant. It's a mute point.

If Hugh did not do his homework on just how bad Obama is on the matter - and why he should not have been embraced I would welcome his perusal of the plethora that I have supplied on it over the last couple of weeks.

I like Hugh, I have deep respect for him... but on this - he's just dead wrong.

Poor guy, its been a tough week on the least like current political figure in America. And evidently he really doesn't want to hear anything else about his insult to our troops.

Maybe if he has to keep hearing questions about it long enough he may just barely begin to understand the lasting impact his words can have. But what do you expect from someone who bailed on his own mates after three cheap purple hearts (one self inflicted), who then turned against those he served alongside.

How drunk is he? How many words does he slur? How many does he mangle?

"Sphint?"

Doin' it Clinton style in the Lincoln Bedroom... yipee!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Deep breath...

Iran's leader Adolf-ah-dinjad, is releasing an open letter to the American people today through the auspices of the United Nations. But check out how the writer at the Associated Press puts it:

"...an apparent attempt by the firebrand president to reach out to Americans over the head of their government."

Is the writer invoking Ronald Reagan in how he went "over the heads of Congress" directly to the American people? (Something President Bush could have done a LOT MORE of in recent years!)

But then the AP writer, Nasser Karimi, goes on to paint the picture this way:

"Ahmadinejad wrote a rambling, 18-page letter to President Bush in May, which Washington criticized for not addressing Iran's nuclear program. The U.S. is leading the drive to impose U.N. sanctions on Tehran for its refusal to stop enriching uranium.

Average Iranians were disappointed by the cold response to the May letter, the first official communication between the two countries' presidents since the Islamic Revolution of 1979." (empahsis added)

Average Iranians? You mean their sitting around having their cafe' and they are lamenting that we didn't embrace the "warm fuzzy" that Adolf-ah-dinejad sent more or less threatening Bush's life if America did not convert to Islam? Yeah it's at the top of their mind. Right before, "can we please get more electricty, and fewer taxes, and if you get around to it - the whole democracy thing?"

But the report continued:

"Many American people asked me to talk to them in order to explain the views of the Iranian people," Ahmadinejad told reporters, referring to his visit to New York to attend the U.N. General Assembly session in September 2005.

Ahmadinejad has alienated many Americans by calling for Israel's destruction and repeatedly dismissing the Holocaust as a myth. He also strongly supports the Palestinian militant group Hamas and the Lebanese faction Hezbollah, which the U.S. State Department lists as terrorist organizations.

Twice this year, Iran has proposed talks with the United States over Iraq, but Ahmadinejad has said that for such negotiations to take place, Washington must change its behavior. On Sunday, he said Iran was ready to help the United States get out of the "Iraqi quagmire if the U.S. changes its bullying policy toward Iran."

This report coupled with the DailyKos praise of Adolf-ah-dinejad following CBS's interview with him in which Mike Wallace got his tailed kicked five ways from Sunday. Hey... maybe Adolf should run for the Democrats in 2008.

A U.S. district judge ruled this evening that the currency we now use in America is an unfair impediment to those who have visual difficulty or are blind. In the ruling he has now ordered the U.S. Treasury to come up with a way to develop a NEW currency so as to not present this impediment any longer.

The model he pointed to was the Euro, the longer the bill is, the higher the denomination of the bill.

So if you think your wallet is a mess with cramming receipts and cash in it now, just wait till you have several different sizes of paper currency to wrestle with.

I'm not the least bit for causing the blind to suffer, but I have to say the thought of changing absolutely everything we know about American paper money - to me - would be a sad, sad thing.

What do you think? If you comment below I will likely use your thoughts in an upcoming broadcast...

At least that's what NYC listeners attempted to say that I was saying, over and over today. Funny thing was - I never did...

Or did I?

In the comment section of this thread you tell me what YOU hear me say.

A member of Rick Warren's Saddleback Church which we will call "Sheri" sent me this note just moments ago:

Hello,
I am a “member” of Saddleback and have been trying to keep up with all of the spin. I am now officially dizzy.
This as you can imagine is heartbreaking at best to learn of the inconsistencies of our dear pastor.
Please won’t you address the congregation and tell us what we can do, how we are to respond?

RE:Syria, “No recordings” Yet I saw video at Saturday evening service that was shot from there, and yesterday I heard the clip on WorldNetDaily.

Barack Obama – is speaking at SVCC – “sharing in person” Yet, pastor Rick says he “would never invite ANY politician to speak from the pulpit to the congregation. – Perhaps not on a Sunday service but he is obviously doing so at this conference.

I really do not understand.
Sincerely,
Sheri

My response:

Sheri,
I am burdened for you and other members who have some difficult decisions to make. Pastor Rick - Lied - to you, the congregation, and to the public about the issue of Syria - 3 times! Even a cursory understanding of scripture shows us that spiritual leaders and elders are to be "above reproach."

If you heard the clip on WND - then you have heard with your own ears - what Rick Warren has now thrice denied. He said what he said.

In terms of Obama. (And that is the story that I was most involved with.) It appears to me that Pastor Rick is again shading the truth - saying he would never invite, yet his invitation to Obama has not been rescinded.

Obama is a man whose character should in NO WAY be associated with anything related to leadership at Saddleback. If Obama were to be invited to come and attend, and find Jesus - then great. But to speak? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

And YOU Sheri need to speak out. Alert those you know in the church. Communicate with the church and voice your disapproval over this, and encourage others to do the same.

In all likelihood - Obama will still come and speak this weekend. The larger question will be left with you at that point is, "Is this the kind of spiritual leadership, and sheperding I want for my family in the community in which we worship?"

I'm so sorry I don't have better encouragement for you. But this is a difficult situation, and the only way through it is to ask the questions that HAVE to be asked by all who love the God of Truth!

My prayers are with you for these days ahead.

From someone who disagrees with me:

Sir,
You twist the truth so that it stirs attention and makes you look grand. Be sure that pride goes before the fall. Last time I checked Dec.1 was a Friday and not a scheduled worship time for Saddleback Church. So could it be that Obama is speaking at a conference just as Rick Warren said he was and not “preaching to the congregation” as you slander? I suppose by my reply you are getting just what you want: attention. Nevertheless, the day will come when all men will give an account of their lives before the Creator. May God show you mercy in your arrogance, deceitfulness and hatred towards one of His.
Mark Flurry
Pastor
Woodlake Baptist Church
Carrollton, Tx.

My response:

Mark,
Could you please kindly point out where I said anything about Barack Obama speaking on a Sunday?
I believe I also said that Obama was "speaking" to the gathered faithful - ON December 1st.
I have neither deceived nor miscontrued the facts. This Friday - Senator Obama is scheduled to speak to those gathered at Saddleback Church. That is what I stated from the beginning and that sir - is still accurate at this minute. My larger point is that for Obama to take the stage of any Bible believing church is an unbiblical thing. That also is a true and accurate statement.
I even said in the column that it was risky for me to speak out on the matter because of the backlash that would be focused at me. Your e-mail, calling me names, asserting that I am arrogant - proves my point.
Still - the dilemma is that Warren has invited someone who is hostile to God to share God's platform with him - and that is immoral.
What Pastor Mark will you be willing to do concerning that?

It's good to make a buck isn't it?

And evidently if you're a member of Saddleback you get the "special" price of $75. Imagine what the non-Saddlebackers get...

$75 x 6000 seats = $450,000 (Estimated by Saddleback staffers... 3500 in the auditorium + additional overflow.)

Not bad...

As the investigations have gone forward into the events surrounding the removal of the 6 Imams from a flight from Minneapolis to Phoenix, more information is coming to light from many eyewitnesses, airport personnel, and federal air marshalls who were on board.

All of them, by the way, are saying the U.S. Airways crew did the right thing.

We already knew that one of the Imams had ties to Hamas and bin Ladin.

Nonetheless silly Congressional member Shelia Jackson Lee is still accusing U.S. Airways of racial profiling. Seriously - I just don't think liberals are even ABLE to understand the days in which we live.

You could call it America's "touchy feely" poll. Based on "warmth of personality." The (mean scores) are the percent of the population who does not know enough about the individual to give them a ranking. Here's the quick list:

Rick Warren is stubbornly digging in his heels on inviting Barack Obama - the most adamant radical, pro-abortion, pro-gay, and anti-biblical elected official in the United States Senate - to speak this coming Friday night.

Call Saddleback Church at 949.609.8000 and politely ask Rick Warren to disinvite Obama.

Yesterday on a seperate issue Warren was caught red-handed in a flat out lie - in his own voice.
