The radical activists who engage in homosexual behavior - want to redefine the role of the church in the state of Oregon, and it appears the legislature just might let them.

"The bottom line this is a total effort by the left to subvert our morality, our Judeo-Christian morality and impose on us a morality they consider superior. What it is really is challenging everything we as Christians stand for."

The bill would affect churches even though it has a so-called church exemption, he said, because it would require every church operation that isn't directly in support of its primary mission goal to be subject to mandatory homosexual hiring requirements and other restrictions.

And it would leave the determination of what is in support of a church's primary mission to be determined by a secular judge. It is possible, for example, that a lesbian could sue a church if not hired to be a pastor's secretary.

For Christian business owners, it would require them to hire and promote homosexuals irrespective of the religious beliefs the owner might hold -- or whether the employee agrees with the products, in a Christian bookstore for example.

For parents, it means their children in public schools would be subject to the state-sponsored and state-required indoctrination that the homosexual lifestyle choice is moral – even if the parents hold religious beliefs that contradict that.

"The law – and this is onerous – has a clause that talks about developing a program of education to change our attitudes," Crowe said. "To change our attitudes? Is it the government's business to change attitudes? But that's precisely what's in the bill."

"They want to put into law [their] view of morality, and that's a small minority view of morality. They are seeking to impose that on the rest of us," he said.

Punishable by up to three years in prison. Hey - three years for number three... catchy:

The Logan Act makes it a felony and provides for a prison sentence of up to three years for any American, "without authority of the United States," to communicate with a foreign government in an effort to influence that government's behavior on any "disputes or controversies with the United States." Some background on this statute helps to understand why Ms. Pelosi may be in serious trouble.

President John Adams requested the statute after a Pennsylvania pacifist named George Logan traveled to France in 1798 to assure the French government that the American people favored peace in the undeclared "Quasi War" being fought on the high seas between the two countries. In proposing the law, Rep. Roger Griswold of Connecticut explained that the object was, as recorded in the Annals of Congress, "to punish a crime which goes to the destruction of the executive power of the government. He meant that description of crime which arises from an interference of individual citizens in the negotiations of our executive with foreign governments."

The debate on this bill ran nearly 150 pages in the Annals. On Jan. 16, 1799, Rep. Isaac Parker of Massachusetts explained, "the people of the United States have given to the executive department the power to negotiate with foreign governments, and to carry on all foreign relations, and that it is therefore an usurpation of that power for an individual to undertake to correspond with any foreign power on any dispute between the two governments, or for any state government, or any other department of the general government, to do it."

Griswold and Parker were Federalists who believed in strong executive power. But consider this statement by Albert Gallatin, the future Secretary of the Treasury under President Thomas Jefferson, who was wary of centralized government: "it would be extremely improper for a member of this House to enter into any correspondence with the French Republic . . . As we are not at war with France, an offence of this kind would not be high treason, yet it would be as criminal an act, as if we were at war." Indeed, the offense is greater when the usurpation of the president's constitutional authority is done by a member of the legislature--all the more so by a Speaker of the House--because it violates not just statutory law but constitutes a usurpation of the powers of a separate branch and a breach of the oath of office Ms. Pelosi took to support the Constitution.

There is also the old "aiding and abetting the enemy" during a time of war...

We all remember their 2004 hit - "This Land". But now some are implying that the creative team of Jib-Jab just isn't funny anymore. Here's their newest:

I agree with Ryan Grim on this one... with the advent of YouTube, all the work that goes into the Jib-Jab product - while of a high quality, just comes off as very - 2004.

Dr. William Gray:

"He's one of these guys that preaches the end of the world type of things. I think he's doing a great disservice and he doesn't know what he's talking about," Dr. William Gray said in an interview with The Associated Press at the National Hurricane Conference in New Orleans, where he delivered the closing speech.

For those of you who live in lower Manhattan, "LOOK OUT!"

I massive carbon foot print is coming April 25th. Your electricity will be rationed. You will be forced to walk instead of ride. And a man roughly the size of the Flatiron building will be hoarding all the goods at the Magnolia Cupcake Bakery.

You have been warned!

Walt Disney Inc. is pushing the societal envelope again. Now they've opened up the "Fairy Tale Wedding" program to people who engage in homosexual behavior.

Because you know... it's every little boy's dream to grow up, put on his chiffon Cinderella dress and say "I do" to Snow White.

Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding packages start at $8,000 and include a wedding planner, the ceremony, food and beverages, flowers and table decorations.

The Lavish Wedding Option also includes a ride to the ceremony in the Cinderella coach, costumed trumpeters heralding the couple's arrival, and attendance by Mickey and Minnie Mouse characters dressed in formal attire.

Today's Politico.

In a move that attempts to create this appearance that what the DNC matters, they have officially decided to "not sanction" the scheduled September debate that is to appear on FOX.

When somebody enters the room at the offices of the DNC who is not wearing diapers - please notify the rest of us!

No... of course he didn't, but I for one am sick of the teasing. First Novak, and now Politico.

I know that some people think Fred is anything but serious about this venture. Hugh Hewitt said so on my show that he would, "rather play Paul Harvey, than stay at Motel 6 every other night for the next year."

He may be right.

But Mike Allen of Politico IS on to something when he talks about the natural gravitas conservatives find in Thompson (Fred that is...).

And FRED's biggest asset to date is that he DOESN'T have to give some "explanation" about the nuances of his position on Abortion, he's not a Mormon, and he's not McCain. In other words - there is no shadow closet issue that particularly haunts him. The other "big three" are fairly well qualified candidates - but each of them HAVE to spend energy explaining why their deficiencies shouldn't disqualify them to the primary voter.

Giuliani has had a horrible week. Between compaining about the media treatment of his wife - after publicly inviting her to pratically attend cabinet meetings is less than sincere. He also insisted upon public funding for abortion. STUPID. He was beginning to gain some traction with social conservatives... that position effectively ended that.

McCain flamed out in the fund-raising department. And is still insisting on being... himself.

Romney had a GREAT week freeing up nearly as much money for the primary races as Barak Obama (both led their parties' - primary fund-raising efforts). And he zoomed to a tie for the lead in New Hampshire off the momentum. He is intensely intelligent... but still a Mormon (for better or worse) and being from the Northeast, with much speculation about his sincerety on abortion in the "bible-belt" corners of the nation all combine to not help him much. (On a personal note the Governor has been on my show, as has Hugh, to discuss these things directly. I find his likeability nearly unlimited. My observations here reflect what I think the public is thinking about him.)

With Fred, there are no nuances, no explanations. The only thing that even comes close to such for Fred is his past vote in support of McCain/Feingold that he has since renounced.

AND NONE of the big three SPEAK to the American voter the way Fred does. No parsing, no convoluted explanations for why one thing is not what it appears.

I don't know if Fred is going to RUN. But there are loads of reasons why he should, and I for one wouldn't mind him being in the race - for no other reason than to at least hold the other three's feet to the fire.

As I predicted yesterday, Obama easily beat Clinton in primary funds.

The fact that the Hillary camp is still shuffling the cards back at Headquarters is to be expected. With two Clintons and a McCaulliffe in the room with the "who gave what when" counting going on, you can bet that every piece of cash that can be mixed up between the primaries and the general election - WILL be. Thus probably how she got to the 20 million figure, when sources had been saying from within the camp - closer to 18 million.

Nevertheless... Obama beat Clinton on a much bigger point which goes like this. If Clinton's average gift per donor was somewhere in the $500 range (and its thought within the Clinton camp that this is a reasonable estimate) on her 50,000 donors - she only has the potential to raise $1800 more per person, giving her a total potential of $90 million off her current donors.

Because Obama's average gift was closer to $110 he can still get another $2190 per person, and his total could reach $219 million from his 100,000 donors.

Of course there are variances and neither of these total potentials will likely be realized. (Though who would've thought that for the first quarter from 2003 to 2007 the winning total would go from 7.4 million to 26 million?)

But the principle remains the same - by getting FAR more people involved, Obama has helped himself in many ways - that still have HUGE upsides to pay him dividends down the stretch.

No matter how McCaulliffe spins this... Obama TROUNCED Hillary in the first primary... period!

Sometimes stories leave us speechless... It's pretty bad when a story this sick is so utterly believable. (Oh I know that his "longtime manager" said the remarks were made in jest - like 20 hours after they were made...) But the cable news pundits were taking polls amongst themselves yesterday and said that the original confession was MORE believable than the lame cover-up explanation of the manager... YIKES!

It's been a while since I've posted on this topic. If you've read this blog for a while you know that I was long ago - the very first person to predict that Obama will upend Hillary and become the nominee for the Dems as President.

This week's money numbers prove it.

Obama has finally released the final numbers of dollars raised in the first leg of the 2008 race. Hillary had already announced that she had raised $26 million. Obama today announced his totals at $25 million. But upon careful inspection look carefully at how the money is allocated.

Hillary has not announced her breakdown yet - but is to be believed from Clinton staffers that she has about $16-18 million available for the highly competitive primary race. Her remaining amount must wait to be used in the general election (should she turn out to be the nominee.)

Obama is in with $23.5 million that can be used for the primaries. And as best as I can tell this edges candidates from both parties in monies allocated for primary spending.

Does money equate to votes? Not necessarily but the other number that Obama released was the "how many donors" got him to the $25 million... more than 100,000 seperate donors. Imagine this as his ground game in the grassroots, walking the precinct efforts. That combined with the fact that he did in fact outraise EVERYONE for the primaries - only points to the increasing likelihood that his winning the party's mantle of nominee is not merely possible, but growing in certainty.

There's no question that Sanjaya is the one that deserves to go home, but whether he will or not is yet to be seen. Phil, Sanj, and Haley in the bottom three... money says Phil goes home.

8:56pm - Lakisha Jones - What the heck is with the dress... The Lovely Bride: "It fits the performance." None of these performers took Tony's advice on the songs. Judges gave her the normal high marks on a powerful vocal performance...

8:48pm - Haley Scarnato - She sets the record for most weeks in a row with the highest hem line... coupled this week with the lowest neckline as well. She ignored Tony's direct advice on the "and you" line in the song... (HEY FOX, be CAREFUL with those camera angles from beneath the stage... YIKES)

8:41pm - Sanjaya - The Lovely Bride: "Flat... not even on a note - ANYWHERE... it was pretty bad... it wasn't on pitch..."

8:38pm - Gina Glocksen - "Smile" by Charlie Chaplain. Nice moment - Tony Bennett confesses he thinks of 9/11 and the soldiers serving in the war at present when he sings the song. The Lovely Bride: "the outfit is far too edgy for the song... She should have 'glammed it up' for a song like this..." Only two out of three judges liked it... Simon sang she was totally outsung by Melinda and Jordin... (What does that mean about Haley?)

8:30pm - Jordin Sparks - Truly the dark horse in the contest. Only 17 and blowing away the audience at every chance she is given. Good outfit. OUTSTANDING FINISH! The Lovely Bride: "I didn't LOVE the song, but she REALLY sang it!" Judges LOVED it! Paula's a dork. Simon liked it - but claimed she didn't make it hers...

8:25pm - Chris Richardson - Duke Ellington's "Mr. Saturday Dance". The Lovely Bride is having a conniption about the boy's suspenders, belt, vest combination. Musically he knocked it stiff - right over the centefield fence. Kept it real... The judges really, really, liked it... making a Duke number "very hip."

8:17pm - Melinda Dolittle - the neckless wonder, the Lovely Bride likes the straight hair and dress - and is calling the performance "amazing..." There is no arguing - Melinda can flat out sing... she's humble, people love her, what's not to like about her chances about going all the way... the Lovely Bride just said, "well that's the show stopper of the night." Randy - "gives a lesson in how to sing," Paula - "like a Master's class," Simon - puts Paula in place..."will never be able to criticize you..."

8:12pm - Phil Stacey has been looking forward to this night - more than any other. Pitchy in the first three notes... pulls it into the second section of the song, nice transition. Nice ending... he should be congratulated for not oversinging that last note... Judges did not like it though Paula put the best face on it... Simon calls it dark... He invokes the "I'm focusing on my wife card..."

8:07pm - Blake is up first - Mac the Knife... the lovely bride says - "good suit." Blake is shining... GREAT start to the night! All three judges liked it... very good song for him...
