What kind of strength will having our own missle defense system OPERATIONAL give us in terms of domestic security?
The ability to shoot down missles from North Korea, China or a revived Russia is vital. It is my sincere hope that the lunatics on the left who have consistently opposed this development will recognize the urgency of this defense need.
After a successful test last week, the tracking radars and interceptor rockets of a new American missile defense system can be turned on at any time to respond to an emerging crisis in Asia, senior military officers said Tuesday.
General Victor Renuart Jr., the senior commander for defense of United States territory, said that the antimissile system could guard against the risk of ballistic missile attack from North Korea even while development continues on a series of radars in California and the Pacific Ocean and on interceptor missiles in Alaska and California.
While the new system is limited, it is the most extensive anti-ballistic missile system the Pentagon has fielded since the Safeguard ABM system near Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota was briefly operated, starting in 1975. Congress immediately voted to shut it down, and it operated for only a few months.
"We can bring missiles up or take them down as need be so that they can continue doing the testing," said Renuart, commander of the military's Northern Command, based in Colorado Springs. But, he added, "I'm fully confident that we have all of the pieces in place that, if the nation needed to, we could respond."

Anyone sick of the phony liars in Congress and the phony tragedy they have phonied up in the phoniest of phony ways concerning Rush Limbaugh?
Me too...
But evidently so is Rush's syndicator - Mark P. Mays, owner of Clear Channel Communications (and a competitor of Salem Communications.)
Telling Reid and other Senate lame brains - INCLUDING Hillary and Obama who both signed on:
"Mr. Limbaugh's comments have stirred a lot of emotion, and I have carefully read the transcript in question," Mays wrote. "Given Mr. Limbaugh's history of support for our soldiers, it would be unfair for me to assume his statements were intended to personally indict combat soldiers simply because they didn't share his own beliefs regarding the war in Iraq.
"I hope that you understand and support my position that while I certainly do not agree with all the views that are voiced on our stations, I will not condemn our talent for exercising their right to voice them," he wrote.
Rush is right... these Democrats have failed at even the most basic of objectives in telling their voters they would get us out of Iraq. Now with even their leading candidates running for President having to concede that they wouldn't even bring the troops home from the Global War On Terror in their first term - Reid and Pelosi are toast. This stupid distraction did NURFIN' to dissuade that.

She joins me in studio Friday at 3pm EST!

On women:
If we took away women's right to vote, we'd never have to worry about another Democrat president. It's kind of a pipe dream, it's a personal fantasy of mine, but I don't think it's going to happen. And it is a good way of making the point that women are voting so stupidly, at least single women.
It also makes the point, it is kind of embarrassing, the Democratic Party ought to be hanging its head in shame, that it has so much difficulty getting men to vote for it.

One thing we are able to say about Rosie O'Donnell, she never "went there..."
Does Whoopi live in a sewer? I'll let you be the judge:
Trying to shout over Whoopi and her other gabbing co-hosts and excited audience members, Barbara turned to Guest Pelosi and said she has heard Whoopi say before that she'd "do Paul Newman."
"And I think she'd like to do your husband as well," Walters deadpanned in that quintessential accent that made her the subject of late-night lampooning over the decades.
Of course, Whoopi being Whoopi, she couldn't let that one go, which is where the speaker begins blushing.
Yes, Whoopi implicitly acknowledged, she'd like to do Mr. Pelosi - but she might take his wife while she's at it. "I would do her as well. But we should wait on that because you're still in office, I don't want to cause a problem."
Oh dear, would this were not live TV.
As you might expect, Speaker Pelosi remained silent underneath her signature permanent smile. And her press office later remained predictably mum on the specter of Whoopi-on-Speaker action.
"She enjoyed being on the show," Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly told us via email. "It was a fun chance to talk to (primarily) women around the country about what Democrats are doing in Congress."
Oh THAT's what they were talking about?

If something stinks in the midwest it could be from the rot of children's bodies that will begin infesting Aurora, Illinois this week...

2pm: My take on the very latest... - Why do I find it entirely believable that Isiah Thomas is guilty? - Obama and Huckabee surging in IOWA? - Christian Conservatives - calm down about the 3rd Party Thing.
2:20pm: Governor Spitzer is STILL insisting on giving the New York Driver's license to Illegal Aliens, and doing so in spite of the extra burden it will put on the legal citizens of his state. But bending to the will of people who do not have the right to be here seems popular. Check out what Illinois is doing, they won't even allow the businesses of their state to utilize a voluntary Federal database to check and compare fraudulent Social Security numbers. When will the elected officials actually be held accountable to "WE the LEGAL PEOPLE?" - 800.345.WMCA.
3pm: My take on the latest... - Merry Ramdmas, Happy Christamen - The WAR has begun. - CBS - Stay AWAY! - Shouldn't somebody named "Reverend" have at least paid his taxes?
3:20pm Why Britney really wants to lose her kids... She really does doesn't she? How else can you explain that this woman is acting this way? No one could honestly think she wants them anymore could they? So she wants to lose her kids and now she has... Mission Accomplished! She's not the only mother who has done this or worse. Is there something in society today that causes what should be a normal mother's concern and worry to turn into abject negligence, arrogance, and apathy? 800.345.WMCA.
3:55pm: The McCULLOUGH PUNCH Speaking of people who abuse children, here's why we are still at war!

If you're governor Mike Huckabee, life is getting better almost every day...
First off - among likely caucus voters in Iowa you've pulled into a near third-place tie with Rudy Giuliani AND putting you within the margin of error for a tie for 2nd with Thompson. He's left McCain in the dust...
Not bad start for the week, and you're also doing the one thing that none of the other "top tier" candidates are.
What does it all mean? Who knows - BUT it does show some movement, and some strategy that is seperating him from the other "second tier" candidates.

Hugh and Michelle were on this story since early this morning. John Edwards smeared Rush over the weekend. But today sitting Senator Tom Harkin smeared him again... click here to see it.
But as the Instapundit himself reminded us: Tom Harkin's a lying faux fake phony soldier himself...
