"Heh he he he heh he he heh!" I will give the Senator some credit his strategy is sound. He's got conservative stalwarts on board - Sam Brownback, George Allen are just two that have been singing his praises thus far.
Sen. Coburn is now doing the immediate introduction and he will then be on to address a gathering that only one year ago he thumbed his nose in the face of.
But then again he did that a LOT to all conservatives in the last seven years.
3:48pm - For all my reputation as a Maverick, I have only found purpose in serving a cause that is bigger than myself... and I will never never tire of serving. I am grateful that you have given me this opportunity. Thank You and God Bless You...
3:47pm - I was deprived of liberty for a time in my life. You can be confidant that within me there is a deep well of life experiences that help form my political judgment. Because I know to deny liberty is to defy nature and nature's Creator...
3:44pm - "Unmistakably clear to Iran, that we will not allow a state to threaten the existence of Israel, and to follow their blind ambitions."
3:43pm - I WILL NOT ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN!
3:42pm - Sens Clinton/Obama will withdraw troops recklessly... "I intend to win the war by trusting the judgement of our commanders in the field who have the honor to command!"
3:41pm - He just conceded the Congress to the Democrats...
3:41pm - "Senators Clinton and Obama want to raise your taxes. I intend to cut them, and I will start by making the Bush tax cuts permanent!"
3:40pm - "I will FIGHT for the line item veto..."
3:40pm - "I intend to reduce the size of government, and I will NOT sign a bill with ANY earmarks in it! And I can assure you that Senator Coburn will hold me to it..."
3:39pm - "It is SHAMEFUL that Democrats are blocking surveillance of our enemies!"
3:38pm - "this election will not be waged over marginal differences. This one will be decided over HUGE differences..."
3:38pm - How many times can he utter the word conservative?
3:37pm - "I will offer Americans a clearly conservative approach to Government!"
3:35pm - "Genuine in our intention to patrol our borders. I will pledge with my highest sincerity to secure our borders first. And only after we have achieved that will we address other issues related to illegal immigration."
3:34pm - "Surely I have held positions that have not held favor with this group, and ones you did not quickly let me forget!"
3:33pm - I am proud of my 24 year PRO-LIFE record!
3:32pm - I campaigned to make the tax cuts permanent! (Just wish he had been FOR them to begin with!)
3:29pm - "I am proud, very proud of my position as a 'foot-soldier' in the Reagan Revolution. I am as proud of that service today as I was then." (HMMM too bad it wasn't continuing from that time till this...)
3:29pm - "Liberty is a right granted by our Creator, not our government. Whenever there is a separation between liberty and justice there can be neither."
3:29pm - "I understand your disagreements, I hope you understand my record as a conservative... Thank you for the chance to make my case today!"
3:28pm - "We can not prevail with the support of dedicated conservatives!"
3:26pm - "I'd be deeply humble to receive my party's nomination..."
3:24pm - "I say that, I had a phone conversation with Gov. Romney, I congratulated him... we agreed to sit down together... all of you who supported Gov. Romney are welcome to join my campaign."
3:23pm - "Maybe what I'd like to do, and maybe what you'd like me to do is just sit down..." <crickets chirp>
3:22pm - Coburn, "Is John McCain perfect?" Some nameless people in the crowd, "NO!!!!" Coburn, "Do we disagree with him every now and then?" Crowd, "YESSSS!!!!" (Even Louder) Unintended laughter ensues...
3:21pm - Good Grief - he was supposed to be on at 3:15pm and Coburn is STILL going...
3:19pm - It seems the main strategy to bridge the ENTIRE divide between McCain and we bible-thumping social cons is to keep reciting the "we will give you good judges." I can live with that, as long as his perception of judges fits the sane part of Senator Cranky and not the Maverick...
3:16pm - Coburn is going deep on McCain's "conservative" bonafides on economics... yeah yeah - he's on record to want to curb spending... MAKE THE TAX CUTS PERMANENT then we can talk...

What could bring Ann Coulter, Mitt Romney, Hugh Hewitt, Mike Huckabee, Kevin McCullough, Mary Katharine Ham, Michelle Malkin, HotAir, and John McCain all to the same place without actual ballots being involved? You got it, the single most important gathering of conservatives on the planet. Otherwise known as CPAC 2008. I will be reporting/broadcasting live tomorrow and Friday from the annual shin-dig. This marks the MuscleHeads' 4th entry into the center-right foray. The "other McCain" fills you in on all those participating in Blogger's Row.For Thursday: 11:00 am - VP Dick Cheney 12:30 pm - Gov. Mitt Romney 3:00 pm - Sen. John McCain I will be on RADIO ROW at 2pm... doing the daily live show. I'll also be doing a series of interviews with media. Much of the rest of the time I will be mingling with blogger's. To catch the on-going live blogger feed of the CPAC events check back HERE regularly throughout the weekend. But I most of all I would love to meet you! CPAC is a great time to get connected to organizations and conservative groups/individuals that are knowledgeable and well informed. My advice? Take advantage of it and ask LOTS of questions! For the COMPLETE SCHEDULE of events click here. Here's some of the fun the bloggers had last year..."Midnight Train to Blog Row"

BOTH Hillary and Obama gave sympathetic reachouts to the victims of the tornadoes in the midwest tonight...
NOT A SINGLE GOP candidate did...

"Heh he he heh, we can now heh he he call ourselves heh hehe the national..." Forget it... I can't bring myself to write anything else about this ill-tempered short fuse! Ok... maybe one more thing.... It seems to me that Sen. McCain is very much obviously prepping Huckabee to be his running mate. In the long run it probably makes immense sense to do so. Gov. Huckabee's demeanor sure does make up for McCain's box of crazy when he's not being managed by a campaign manager.

"...is it in the signs?" Looking at the Obama campaign rolling up win after win - nearly doubling the number of wins that Hillary has tonight. Brit Hume called it wishful thinking, but FNC's Steve Brown says that three conference calls with Obama's campaign chair - they may have the delegate LEAD after tonight...
The change in tone is pretty remarkable, given that they were only hoping to pull within a hundred delegates of the Clintons.

I'm sorry but Hillary's "victory" speeches are some of the most boring, disconnected, cold, dull, uninspiring, shrill, loathsome blather I've ever had to listen to.
Yech...
Did I mention that she has the personality of a piece of sheet-rock?

The job of YOUR candidate is to WIN the hearts and minds of the voters you SHOULD be able to attract.
Sean Hannity was just on FNC... WHINING about how many states Huckabee will likely win tonight. WHY? Because Romney didn't win them? And why didn't he?
Because he did not win the hearts and minds of more people than Huckabee did.
If anything has played out over the last couple of weeks - this much is obvious. Candidates HAVE to take responsibility for their own success or failure. Come on RUSH - you have consistently for years taught the moral lesson of individual responsibility.
Mike Huckabee could have been sitting around in his hands crabbing about Fred Thompson not dropping out prior to South Carolina - WHICH Huckabee would have carried by 10 points if Fred had not remained in the race.
But that's what the race is about. One man's ego, message, reputation, and character, against everyone else.
You Romney peeps - particularly in punditry are acting like liberal democrats - you've become VICTIMS. "Woe is me... I didn't win as many states." But if you had the message and the organization, and the vision that captures the minds and hearts of the voters you seek - you would have.
Rush, Sean, Hugh, Ann, and on and on and on... enough!
You may still win California tonight - and if you do - it's still GAME ON.
But for the LOVE of all that's HOLY - stop it with the "Huck" victimization crap... The rest of the universe is sick of it.

Good going Dr. D!
