"Just Bonkers"

The Washington Post's coverage of Wednesday's Congressional hearing on gays in the military sanitized the liberal bullying and one-sided, pro-gay monologue I saw firsthand. I attended the hearing with the expectation it there would be genuine dialogue with witnesses and committee members engaging in honest debate. Apparently, that was too much to ask. Chairwoman Davis made it clear from her opening remarks that her mind was already made up that "many Americans who happen to be gay or lesbian want to answer our nation's call to service" and they could be the elixir for the current "strain" on our military.

From the beginning Elaine Donnelly, one of two witnesses in support of the law's current stance on homosexuals in the military, was silenced by Congressmen and women who repeatedly asked her questions and then immediately "reclaimed" their time to continue their incessant rebukes. Mrs. Donnelly was portrayed by the members of the committee as an intolerant homophobe making exaggerations and "inappropriate" comments. Since when did bringing up the issue of HIV positivity in a discussion about homosexual behavior become "inappropriate"?  If 2.8% of American men claim to be homosexual, yet account for 54% of the national AIDS cases, I think HIV positivity is a very relevant concern! (Statistics according to the HIV/AIDS Surveillance Report by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention; vol.18, published 2008).

The Washington Post's Dana Milbank criticized Mrs. Donnelly, the first woman to receive the Adm. John Henry Towers award from the New York Naval Aviation Commandery and NewsMax.com's "America's Most Heroic for 2000" award, using adjectives like "rage", "warned", and "ominously" to describe her comments. The comments Mrs. Donnelly made that did not make it into the article include the fact that President Clinton imposed "Don't Ask Don't Tell", an irrational policy that made it seem legitimate for gays to serve in the military when it currently is and always has been against the law. Milbank also ignored the question, "Why are we training people [homosexuals] who are ineligible according to the law?" and whether or not more military personal would leave than homosexuals would join if the law was revoked. Also overlooked was the fact that the number of people discharged because they are homosexual is the least amount of military discharges overall (discharges for pregnancy or weight are much higher).

As a woman, the idea of being forced to share intimate quarters with other women who have openly homosexual desires is appalling. Sexual misconduct in these circumstances would be much less recognizable and reportable because the victim could be immediately be crushed by the banner of equal rights and tolerance. The law is what it is because of homosexual conduct—an unnatural, dead sex act that can never produce life. If Milbank and the committee members do not think the Uniform Code of Military Justice's view of homosexual behavior is legitimate, one needs only study basic anatomy. Overall, the bloated  emphasis of emotionalism over facts in the hearing only reaffirmed my fear that if homosexuals are allowed to serve openly in the military, our soldiers will be burdened by endless sensitivity seminars and lectures on tolerance.

...MuscleHeaded Faith...

For many seasons as the proprietor of the MuscleHead blog I've long had a desire to add additional bloggers that reflected the clarity, focus, and inimitable fierceness that one must have in order to truly qualify as a member of the MuscleHead Revolution.

Thusly fiercely defending common sense, biblical truth, and a rabid desire to see justice, righteousness, and goodness occur in society has been paramount. I've spoken with several talented writers over the last year and a half - and while many have been fine writers - none had quite the verve the Revolution has been seeking.

Thusly - I am honored and grateful to introduce you to someone that you have not met - but that perhaps before long - might just become one additional reason why you might try checking out the MuscleHead Revolution blog every single day.

With my consultant work for the Family Research Council, commuting to and from DC-NYC each week, the writing of my books, speaking, and still dabbling with talk radio - my expendable blog time is not nearly as open as it once was.

Nonetheless between our contributions we hope that this corner of the blogosphere, and the TownHall marketplace is as interesting, dynamic, and most importantly compelling as ever. And it's my belief that Faith Ammen will be a big reason why.

I won't tell you much more about her - who she is, what she does, and where she's going in life will be hers to reveal if or when she so desires. Just know this... I think you will have a very tough time out-thinking her but she so invites you to try...

So in the days to come - comment freely, take your best shots, and make her feel as welcome as you can... It's my hope that her commentary will be here for a good little while!

(Until the tech guys at TownHall get her name formatted as a contributer to the MuscleHead domain we've decided to have her post under my sign in - and much like Barnett did over at Hewitt just sign it with a slug that identifies where you can e-mail her at the bottom of each post...)

Ok Faith... fire away...

Obama applauding after his own speech...
(no we're serious... his own speech!)

While the first half-white candidate Barack Obama was talking about tearing down walls in Berlin yesterday it turns out not all was as it seemed.

Of course the diligence of the American press is laughable - but the number they continued to report throughout the day on Thursday - related to Obama's attendance numbers for his speech ran roughly 200,000.

Of course what they didn't bother to include was the fact that the event was essentially a music festival with rock bands, free brats, and lots of beer...

Oh yeah - Obama spoke - but he wasn't the main attraction...

And by they way - I dare him to keep up that whole "citizen of the world" stuff... no seriously I do. That plays SO well back this way...

"but... I have cancer, and supported you on the trail!"

But hey, there's no real morality right? It's all just a shade of gray? No right, no wrong - just what feels good to you?

That's what liberals believe...

A fun hour we had yesterday afternoon on the Ed Morrissey show. Rick Warren, Barack Obama, John McCain, Dr. James Dobson, - basically no one was spared careful scrutiny.

Watch or listen to it all unfold by clicking above.

"I'm the man!"

"The primaries proved that Americans care deeply about the faith, values, character and leadership convictions of candidates as much as they do about the issues. While I know both men as friends and they recognize I will be frank, but fair, they also know I will be raising questions in these four areas beyond what political reporters typically ask. This includes pressing issues that are bridging divides in our nation, such as poverty, HIV/AIDS, climate and human rights."

Now - I'm not sure what Warren believes he is referring to in the "four areas beyond what political reporters typically ask" but I will tell you that the four things he's listed do not qualify. Primarily because these are four of the MOST OFTEN asked about "areas."

And is Rick Warren seriously going to discuss 'Global Warming' - despite the fact that 2008 has been a wrecking ball from the science community to the theory that Al Gore enriched himself off of? Seriously? More than 50,000 climatologists, meteorologists, and earth scientists - not to mention prominent, classroom isolated, academic science types ALL now refuting the key components to the overly hyped theory? So overly hyped now that the British public school system is not allowed to show the Gore film without disclaiming as entirely propaganda? What does this have to do with a "faith and values" conference?

Warren has also consistently NEVER spared the opportunity to allow Obama to preach his Gospel of Condoms, and to date he's also not disputed it.

But has Warren seen the PEPFAR legislation (emergency aid to Africa for aids relief) that the Congress these two Senators belong to have been working on in recent weeks? Does he know about the abortive language fight that ensued over the 'Global Fund' using U.S. dollars from our emergency HIV/AIDS aid to perform mandated abortions?

Will Warren allow groups like Compassion International to share the stage this year and speak about  the work they are actually doing in the pandemic regions of Africa, bringing children HIV/AIDS cocktail meds AND the gospel of Jesus Christ - as opposed to the gospel of prophylactics?

What this conference really does is allow Rick Warren another notch in the belt of his "reach, influence, and power." Something he has become accustomed to with no measurable, tangible results to show for all the money spent in holding this annual soiree'.

OH YES HE DID...

O'Reilly was just on FoxNews explaining why he will be forced to play the tape tonight. (Some one leaked it first.) But Jesse did use the N-bomb in reference to who Barack was "talkin down too."

And yet he's argued that persons using the word should be subjected to hate crimes?

He's also lectured the entertainment world:

NO - Say it isn't so!

There has come this tradition in our house that is severely different than the days of my childhood. When I was a kid we would spend our evenings as a family around the dinner table, then we kids would usually get our baths taken, teeth brushed and head off to bed, and Mom and Dad would watch the ten o'clock local news.

Yes I grew up in the "weird" time zone that did things at odd hours. Prime time started at 7pm instead of 8. And the nightly news casts were 10pm instead of 11pm.

I haven't watched late local news in - gosh I have no idea how long. But several years ago probably close to six or seven - I started watching one newscast almost every night.

In recent years the Friday edition of 'Special Report w/ Brit Hume' would be hosted by someone else, and I would sometimes have to change the channel. If it didn't have Brit - it just wasn't Special Report.

Hume's legacy as a broadcaster is legendary. Formerly with ABC he hassled the Clintons prior to impeachment, then left to become the main on-air heavy with a then start-up operation called FoxNews. That was 12 years ago.

For the last seven - he has so dominated his time-slot - the ratings race for his hour has been a joke.

But at the end of 2008. Brit...

Will be...

Gone...

There is something settling about Brit. Perhaps the most fair of all the legit news anchors on television. His ability to ask the most pointed of pointed questions, and to regularly expose poor thinking has been his signature. He also knew how to smile, he could laugh at himself, as easily as the final feature each night on his show...

Then there were the award winning panel discussions that literally are the smartest two five minutes segments in television - every single night. Not a night goes by you don't learn something. And that's probably because you don't typically see truly devout liberals and conservatives all sitting together on a panel - making points, instead of just starting a shouting match. (One of the many reasons I had to turn off Hannity and Colmes years ago.)

There is no doubt that the death of his good friend Tony Snow has to be unsettling to him and at 65 he may be asking himself - why keep pushing so hard?

Unlike the Brokaw's and Rather's of the world you didn't have to wonder if Brit was shading the facts, not reporting the truth, his integrity - as testified to by nearly everyone in the business is legendary.

I am truly saddened to hear of Brit's pending departure, none of the pinch hitters that currently fill in for him on Fridays are one-tenth as compelling to watch. In fact the only one on Fox that I would give a snowball's recognition to after Brit's departure would be someone like John Gibson - but he appears to have been kicked to the curb as well.

Fox is entering some deep trouble. For all the large-bosomed, silky legged, blondes they've put up on the screen, they have or are in the process of losing interesting, talented, cagey professionals. Gibson didn't need to be paired with Heather Nauert  and Nauert all by herself has struggled a bit this week. As did Ingraham before her.

Brit and Gibby both have smarts, life, and at times and when necessary a little subtle cocky something extra that would keep the viewer wondering what was next.

So likely - whatever the change FoxNews puts in place at 6pm starting in January, I'm pretty sure my daily dose of don't miss news... is done.

Too bad!

Many have you have e-mailed begged, pleaded, cajoled, and attempted bribery to find out when and how the return to the airwaves was to take place. I am finally at liberty  to let you in on the answer...

Starting this Saturday night 9-11pm EST in New York, and as many twelve additional radio markets up and down the east coast to as far away as Salt Lake City, Stephen Baldwin and Kevin McCullough will hit the airwaves with a weekly discussion of the moral dilemmas faced by the 15-34 year olds of today's society.

We are jazzed, excited, and pumped to take your calls toll free. We will launch originally on traditional radio stations (12 markets as I mentioned). We will be adding stations - as they request us as soon as they request us. We will have the capacity to deliver the show - to any station that desires to carry us. We have secured two separate Satellite feeds (one that serves primarily secular stations, one that serves primarily faith-based stations). These feeds will be free to the stations that WANT to carry the show.

We are also anticipating in August being added to the Sirius Satellite Radio line-up. And hey - why not - if Stern can spend his time purposefully confusing the moral dilemmas of our day - why not have some provocative conversation about how to solve them?

For those of you who are used to my more political bent style of talk radio, this will be something really different. We will not talk a lot if much at all about politics - but we will be talking about the most relevant things in the lives of those between the ages of 15-34 in our world today.

So BE BY THE RADIO this Saturday night. And for those of you not able to get it by traditional broadcast means we will be simulcasting on BlogTalkRadio Network, plus providing downloadable podcasts of the show for those of you who want to pass it on to a friend. PLEASE notify your MySpace and Facebook lists, and be by the computer/radio this Saturday night 9-11pm. We will be looking forward to taking your calls, and hearing from you about life today... BMXRadio... pass it on.

And for those of you who do want some of my political stuff, well fortunate for you I've got a brand new book coming out September 1st, and my other media appearances will continue to occur. This past Saturday I had the distinct honor to join my good friend Bobby Schindler for his new broadcast from Tampa - America's Lifeline. And per usual today I sat down with Ed Morrissey as we filled the airwaves of HotAir. Which you can catch in podcast form right here.

The Kind of Man...

In case you missed it my syndicated column this week dealt with the fact that two men who garnered the majority of the headlines this past week led very different lives...

In this corner you've got "Jesse the Castrator" and in that corner "Smilin' Tony Snow."

For those of you who are not Christians, this video may not mean all that much. However as I have written here in the past few weeks, some have engaged me in theological discussions and premises that lead to faulty thinking. Even to the point of justification of support for presidential candidates who oppose Biblical truth. I found the video above to be one of the most concise explanations of these different movements as it simultaneously dismantles their criticisms of the consistency and reasoning... Discuss in the comments...
