"All I've fought for..." At about 9pm or so Faith and I will kick in with running "live blog" commentary here on the MuscleHead pages. The headliner for the night, HILLARY CLINTON. The big question is "will she or won't she" unite the troops? We shall see. Faith and I might have other guest bloggers joining us tonight - so check back around 9pm and throughout the evening for commentary you won't find anywhere else. YOU can join the discussion if you are so led in the comments to this post as well... 11:23pm LOVELY: Hillary did the bare minimum in her speech--she did what she was expected to do, but never gave him more than absolutely necessary on her part. The speech was much more about her and everything she had achieved as a woman running for senator and president--tying it in with the 19th amendment, and breaking glass ceilings, etc. etc. She did not come out in overwhelming support for Obama--all she said was that people should vote for him so McCain doesn't get into office. There was no acclaim for who he is as a person, no support of his character or ability to be president. She did the bare minimum. It was all about her and that wasn't surprising.11:18pm Matlock: Her obvious point was to unite the party. But it did not come off like that at all. She talked about Obama very little. The speech really was more about her. It think her motivation had to be out of some deal she and Obama have struck. After all the personal attacks she has lost that directly contradict what she said tonight, how can she not have different motives. Of course she wants Obama to win, he is a Democrat who can put her in a position of power. I think she did what she had to do but no more. If I was a hard core Hillary supporter I would not have changed my position because she gave me no reason to. Her argument was to "do it for her" or for the American people. She didn't address any issues or anything that would change my mind specifically about Obama.11:09pm LOVELY: This speech was all about her and what she's done, and then she just threw in "oh yeah, vote for Barack Obama" here and thereMatlock: Kevin, I'm thinking more a Supreme Court position LOVELY: totally disconnected from the rest of her speech and the points she was making FAITH AMMEN: Can't believe she said Biden would be a good VP when he's the one who said "“I think he (Obama) can be ready but right now I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.” 11:06pm Matlock: They story of America is not about defying the odds, it's about freedom Hillary personal freedom from government interferance... LOVELY: What does this story about Harriet Tubman have to do with Hillary and Obama? LOVELY: Like the choice to let your child be born and not aborted...Matlock: It's funny that her speech about women's freedom and voting rights and empowering women is to support a man for president. 11:03pm Matlock: Why is she asking if they want "more" of things? They are democrats! They fundamentally want "more" government!FAITH AMMEN: Can anyone name ONE program that excels more when it is run by the government rather than private citizens? 11:01pm LOVELY: Democrats know how to do this: we tax the He#$ out of the American public...Matlock: "change from the ground up" would be starting with the family. I thought she was against empowering the family, she just lets the government take the family's job LOVELY: Hillary: It's the Health Care plan, stupid... 10:59pm FAITH AMMEN: Who are they supposed to vote for? Oh yeah! Finally, after 20 minutes she says Obama's name...Matlock: I love how they strategically placed all those different signs: Unity, Hillary, Obama LOVELY: She said global warming... Are we even calling it that anymore? KMC: MEMO to HILLARY: The Globe has been cooling for the last six years... LOVELY: I thought it was now climate change FAITH AMMEN: What new green technologies? OH...the ones that require causing food shortages in 3rd world countries because we are increasing the cost of corn? 10:58pm FAITH AMMEN: Who are they supposed to vote for? Oh yeah! Finally, after 20 minutes she says Obama's name...Matlock: I love how they strategically placed all those different signs: Unity, Hillary, Obama... 10:56pm LOVELY: Yeah we have to buy oil from the Saudis because we won't drill in our own landFAITH AMMEN: (What do these people know about the middle class?!) LOVELY: Why should parents know that the government will take care of their children? Matlock: Make college affordable again? When did it switch from being affordable to being not? It has always been hard to pay for college. LOVELY: What about the God-given potential of unborn children? Do they have rights? If she mentions children and the rights they should have one more time I'm going to puke... 10:49pm FAITH AMMEN: When did coloring books for 3 year olds and being the World's Doctor become America's priority?KMC: SEE... its still all about her Matlock: If Hillary believes so much in the power of family why does she cripple the family's ability to govern itself? Leave the family alone Hillary. If they are so pivotal, let them function without taking away parents rights to parent their kids. LOVELY: What do any of these stories have to do with why people should elect Obama? KMC: See Hillary SHOULD have been the nominee. She knew the number of states we have. 10:47pm LOVELY: Michelle is all business tonightMatlock: The first thing she talks about is uniting. There is no doubt what her priority is. Do you think she sees Hillary as competition... as a woman? Michelle is the wife while Hillary is in the spotlight. LOVELY: She only "advocates" for children already born FAITH AMMEN: The things she supports are not things that government have other or should ever be about... KMC: I'm not BUYING it... this is still all about her...
10:46pm KMC: THIS IS A CLINTON Crowd... me thinks the Obama camp noticed that ovation... Michelle got bupkis last night by comparison...KMC: Look at Michelle's eyes; watch the look on her face 10:43pm LOVELY: Yeah--all the babies at the end of her video were ones that were allowed to be bornFAITH AMMEN: (Tell the woman to put a skirt on! Pretty sure Bill likes legs...) KMC : It looks like she's going sans podium... and went with... wait for it - THE ORANGE! LOVELY: Opposite of blue on the color wheelCouldn't stand out more Matlock: At least she would let the born ones live, Obama wouldn't even do that. KMC: Podium appeared...
10:40pm Matlock: Do they really want little girls to look up to Hillary? "She's calm, cool, and collected"... have these people watched her talk about Obama on national television? There was nothing calm, cool, and collected about that. LOVELY: They make it sound like she is the only female role model for girls... LOVELY: What about all the mothers who quit their jobs and ambitions in the world to stay home and raise their kids?FAITH AMMEN: Technically, she has done nothing but campaign and run for Senator in a state she doesn't live in... Hillary believes in "God-Given Potential..." What about God-given life? 10:35pm Matlock: How will Obama's plan give us energy independence? Does he plan to drill in Alaska...?If he says "4 more years" one more time... KMC: Billy smooched all the girls in his skybox Matlock: He gets them interested by making his speech interactive. It's a speakers crutch. Just make them stand up and shout, raise their hands up and shout LOVELY: The Petrol dictators? Are you kidding? It's such a slap in the face when these guys say "God bless America." They don't really want God to bless America. They want to take God out of every part of America... FAITH AMMEN: Amen!
10:33pm KMC: The Governor of Montana is speaking... FAITH AMMEN: "There isn't enough oil offshore?" What kind of moron is he?KMC: He's also a horrible teleprompter reader... LOVELY: does he mean the corn that is being used now and driving up the cost of food? Nice bolo tie by the way - he's on national tv--couldn't he put a real tie on? Is that supposed to be a fashion statement shoutout to his country peeps? 10:32pm KMC: Faith, Matlock, and the Lovely Bride are all back and ready to go! 10:26pm LOL!!!! Howard Wolfson just on with Megyn Kelly, "Mark Warner was a tremendously MISSED opportunity, and went far too long." OUCH!!! From the more or less "Karl Rove" of the Clinton camp... 10:20pm KMC: Billy boy has arrived... kissing and groping, er hugging, every person - er woman in his skybox... 9:59pm KMC: One pundit after another continue to slough off the "Ayers/Obama" connection - even though they have given speeches as recently as two years ago, and Ayers said on 9.11.01 - that he wished his terrorist group could have killed MORE people and bombed MORE buildings when he bombed the capital... This acting as though it shouldn't be talked about ignores the issue that they had RECENT relationship with each other, and Ayers worked on Obama's behalf in raising money, hosting brunches for Obama since 2000. That to me is NOT so distant history... 9:50pm KMC: While Warner must have been so boring, Alan Colmes started debating Rudy Giuliani on FNC. Rudy ate his lunch on the Ayers' issue. Ayers SAID on 9/11/2001 - that he wished HIS terror group had caused MORE damage. On 9/11!!! As we were having our hearts ripped out of us watching 3000 of our fellow countrymen suffer the cruel deaths at the hands of terrorists. And Ayers - wishes he could have done even more... And HE held a fund-raiser for Obama... And HE had Obama serve on the board of the organization HE founded... And Obama called him respectable and mainstream... Give it up Dems - it's a legit issue, and you darn well know it! 9:45pm KMC: Warner sucks so bad - that FOX is cutting his speech... LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's the freakin KEYNOTE!
9:41pm KMC: Oh boy... "the race of the future..." what is this Seabiscuit... YAWN.... 9:39pm MATLOCK: I still don't understand how they shot to the top. He became a senator then immediately decided to run for president. They really didn't climb up the success latter, they shot up like a freight train...KMC: Well it started by them being able to go to PRINCETON and HARVARD then both getting to attend Harvard Law. Then he got to teach law, and she went into the professional world... and both did well financially MATLOCK: Are they both just really smart? She did come from a lower income family. KMC: She came from essentially a black middle class family... Any family that had a mother and father in the black community in that day as in this - had many advantages... 9:35pm KMC: I just realized that when Michelle and Barack were shooting their way to the top of the success chain, and taking advantage of every opportunity this country gave them... did all of it with GOP Presidents serving 26 of the last 38 years... LOVELY: Interesting point!
9:30pm KMC: Thats not a "maverick" that's a sidekick... wow - how long did he work on that one...KMC: Casey's a real stemwinder! The moron keeps stepping on his own lines.. MATLOCK: the 4 months rather than 4 years... I wonder who realized Bush has 4 months. That's impressive!
9:25pm KMC: Senator Casey - speaking as a "pro-life" Democrat - which is in itself funny given that he has not cast a vote on the life issue in his elected life. His father - who was ardently pro-life was BANNED from speaking in the 1992 Convention because of his pro-life beliefs. (Says a lot about the "tolerance" in the DNC huh?) Tolerance to Democrats is agreement with them. If you disagree then you need to be shut up, and put away... LOVELY: how can dems talk about having "deep faith"???? I don't get it considering the values they champion...9:14pm KMC: Dick Morris wholeheartedly believes Hillary DOES have a point to make, and trying to one up - not Obama but likely Biden... and leaves open the possibility that Billy Boy will behave badly tomorrow night... DUH!8:26pm KMC: (Early comment) The problem with the "Obama narrative" is that both Barack and Michelle have succeeded because of America's opportunities that are available to everyone. THUSLY following a politic of dependency upon government is an unsellable message...

WRONG WAY BUMP! Despite Michelle Obama's best efforts last night - voters aren't buying it, not yet anyway. The Rasmussen poll - which has been the most accurate poll in the last four election cycle (due to his updated polling methods) released snapshot results from the overnights showing that Obama is not even winning his own nomination process:
Among all voters surveyed, 43% say Clinton would do better against the Republican candidate, while 41% prefer Obama, who this week is expected to become the first African-American nominated as the presidential candidate of a major political party.
And among democrat women on the issue of whether Hillary should be on the ticket: Nearly half of Democratic women (47%) say Barack Obama should have chosen Hillary Clinton for his running mate instead of Senator Joseph Biden as the former First Lady prepares to speak tonight at the Democratic National Convention. Thirty-nine percent (39%) disagree.
Scott Rasmussen was also just on FOX relaying the finding that every day since naming Biden to the ticket - Obama's poll numbers have dripped lower.

"And this is the cause of my life, new hope, that we will break the old gridlock, and guarantee that every American, north, south, east, west, young, old, will have decent quality health-care as a fundamental right and not a privilege. We can meet this challenge with Barack Obama, yes we can, and finally yes we will." These were the rousing words, spoken by Senator Edward Kennedy, that lit up the faces of the attendees to the opening night of the Democratic National Convention. (It was also the only policy pledge made over the duration of the entire night.) Senator Kennedy's words, like so many who pledge government freebies, sounded spectacular, generous, even utopian. The challenge of course ends up in the reality that in order to achieve what he promises Senator Kennedy knows that the quality of care will diminish and the cost for everyone will increase. Nothing is given away for free, and no one should have a universal right to health. Our health, like our bank account, is something we need to steward. That responsibility begins with us, not the Government. Senator Kennedy also left out one more important aspect of the matter. The law already guarantees emergency care for all Americans. So no one is presently denied life-saving medical care, though Senator Kennedy's candidate for President Barack Obama did once radically vote to deny such care to children who had been born.

"...and (finally) that's why I love America." Huh? Did I miss something? I know she said the words but she also said just prior to that "it is FINALLY when thread of history" meets this "new challenge of hope." This was in essence was her "I can finally be proud of my country" just said a different way.
Chris Wallace on FOX talked about how this night might have been perhaps, "a huge waste of time."
And on substance you have to agree with him.
Nothing new was learned about Obama, his beliefs, or his far-left excessive progressive views.
Sure there was a lot of "Leave it to Beaver." Heck she even went so far as to imply that she as a woman needed a man to protect and provide for her.
Can someone please call NOW to see if she needs to have her feminist creds revoked?
It was a red state speech... but it was articulated by the wife of the most deeply blue socialist candidate to ever run for President - who just picked the most far left Vice President nominee ever.
Not only that it lacked a message.
James Carville summed it up best, "If this party has a message, it has done a h*ll of a job in hiding it tonight."

The "MuscleHead" Coverage Team At about 9pm or so Faith and I will kick in with running "live blog" commentary here on the MuscleHead pages. The headliner for the night, Michelle "never been proud of my country in my entire adult life until my husband started winning a primary" Obama. YOU can join the discussion if you are so led in the comments to this post as well... PRE-PRIME TIME STARTER TOPIC: Is it just ME or do you think that the Obama campaign is really protesting too much, making too many statements, and too many public offerings stating that "Unity" is not a problem. I mean if it isn't - why do you have to make so many statements claiming so? Thoughts? **Even more coverage - same low price** Faith and I have both invited our roomates to join us in the "Live Blog" tonight. So you will get the unique honor of also hearing from the Lovely Bride, and Ms. Lindsay Matlock - what follows is their honest feelings on the night. 11:16pm LOVELY: Overall, I think the evening went well for the Obama camp. I think that Kennedy's speech was well delivered and pointed toward the ideals in the forefront of the campaign. Michelle also redeemed herself from her previous negative images--positive, caring mother and wife.
That was her big hurdle, and so this speech was mostly about her and where she and Obama came from--not about Obama's policies or platform. Tonight didn't tell anyone anything about what exactly he believes or what all the changes are going to be that they all keep talking about.
Except for the whole "healthcare" platform embraced by Ted Kennedy. This was a whitewashing of the Obama family; a "we aren't that different from you" story with none of the controversial or elite parts of their history included in what was said. It was meant to be reassuring, and I think it only spoke to people already on their side. 11:04pm FAITH AMMEN: If the convention was a self-help conference or a platform for motivational speakers, I would say the DNC has been successful so far. When it comes to having a real candidate with real experience and real solutions, they failed miserably.
Tonight I was inspired to vote for Obama because Teddy Kennedy has cancer and because Obama is a "normal" guy and because he bought ice cream for his wife.
The stories were a nice touch, but it quickly turned into a sickening sweet feeling. I don't feel like I know the "presidential" Obama any better or why I should support his candidacy any more than I did 4 hours ago. I think all the personal stories were at complete odds with any policies that Obama support.
This is what happens when a Senator who was in office for less than 200 days before he decided to run for President of the greatest country on earth. I would hire tonight's Democrats for my next inspirational speaking gig but not for Commander in Chief! 10:59pm KMC: What is Juan Williams talking about in regard to not ever having seen "such a thing" in terms of a black woman addressing the nation at a national convention? Did we forget that Condi Rice - did - TWICE?
10:56pm KMC: The "hi daddy" stuff was cute... once...
10:54pm KMC: Isn't it wonderful that Michelle Obama can describe such a beautiful relationship with her own daughters? Isn't it wonderful that she can describe the tenderness with which Obama felt the tug of fatherhood with all seriousness. I guess it's really good that neither of them were partially delivered, or discovered to have Downs syndrome - because it would be obvious that he would have let them die in soiled utility closets... 10:49pm KMC: Major canard there - women were not being paid differently in Illinois than men... She made it appear that he did something that he did not do... LOVELY: What does a "world class" pre-school education look like? 10:48pm KMC: Im sorry what did she say? Why does she love this country? Because the thread of history has now found this new found hope?LOVELY: I don't get how you can talk about working hard to achieve your dreams in life on one hand, and believe that government should supply all your needs on the other hand--the two ideas are contradicting and cancel each other out. 10:45pm KMC: The "make it if you try" mantra is NOT a talking point that is well appreciated in the Jesse Jackson camp. I have to believe that the Obamas' emphasis on personal responsibility is not something that the old guard civil rights crew is going to be pleased by...
LOVELY: And when you are working hard to reach your dreams, the government taxes the heck out of you and discourages you from trying to earn as much as possible 10:41pm FAITH AMMEN: "You work hard for what you want in life"...then why do you support your husband's policy of a big brother government who gives unlimited handouts? 10:40pm KMC: Is Michelle a feminist? She needs a protector?LOVELY: Michelle had a mother and a father, and her mother stayed at home to raise her and her brother, but that shouldn't be the ideal standard for families? 10:35pm FAITH AMMEN: Michelle Obama pales in comparison to so many average women who don't get propped up as heroes...My mom gave up her engineering job at Xerox to stay at home with me...she's worked at homeless shelters, taught english to refugees, takes lunch to the elderly (through meals on wheels)...why is Michelle so special? 10:32pm FAITH AMMEN: This is so canned, scripted, and forced. There is no genuineness, no thought provoking images or illustrations, no appeals to reality...just 100% sappy music and sappy lines wrapped up in sappy movies... 10:29pm FAITH AMMEN: There's no real examples of who Michelle Obama is...just "she's so nice..." "she's so compassionate..."LOVELY: Michelle is wearing a very tiny peace sign necklace in her video...is she trying to make a statement, but hoping no one will notice it? 10:25pm - **Michelle Obama Video** FAITH AMMEN: Michelle falls for ice cream!KMC: AWWW - he bought her ice cream and it proved he knew how to treat a woman... yeah - she's definitely NOT an apple pie girl LOVELY: Buying a girl ice cream=knowing how to treat a woman.... I think there's a little more to it than that 9:53pm KMC: Just got the word that Don Miller - emergent church guru - will be offering the closing benediction tonight... evidently not all that concerned with associating his "Christianity" with Barack Obama's infanticide...
Come on you emergent homies - explain that one... 9:44pm KMC: what is CNN doing?KMC: Fox has Wexler on... FAITH AMMEN: booooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrring FAITH AMMEN: where are all the young people? why are we using old lame music? 9:39pm KMC: For a guy with a brain tumor, he was remarkably lucid and on point. Overall not a bad showing for Kennedy. And he was able to articulate his socialist ideas perhaps as strongly as ever. They were nonetheless socialist utopia silliness... that make wonderful prose, but not a strong possible reality... 9:36pm LOVELY: Health care that involves standing in line like we all love to do at the DMV. 9:33pm
KMC: Maybe someone should tell him we're not electing anyone tonight - the votes are cast Nov 4 LOVELY: Apparently rising "to our best ideals" involves voting for a man who believes babies should die in hospital utility closets. KMC : I pledge to you, that I will be there when we become a great country? LOVELY: We haven't been a great country for the last 200 years?KMC: Of course NO ONE is denied care now... 9:27pm KMC: But the Kennedy family has undermined every war effort America has been a part of going back to World War I... FAITH AMMEN: EVERY person who has spoken has said "faith and family are so important." Memo to the Democrats: he mantra doesn't work if it is just a slogan... 9:24pm
Lindsay Matlock: "He's always been there for the troops"- John Kerry ...? 9:23pm Lindsay Matlock: He did say he has a "special commitment" to justice... however that may look...KMC: bloated and floating to the top? LOVELY: How many houses do the Kennedys own? FAITH AMMEN: Do you think our founding fathers would be remembered if their most important platform is "giving people healthcare?" 9:22pm
KMC: LOLOLOLOL - The sea is a metaphor for life... (or dead girlfriends) LOVELY: The sea is a metaphor for life for Ted Kennedy--how appropriate 9:21pm FAITH AMMEN: Caroline Kennedy fails to realize that "achieving the American Dream" has never come about because of government handouts but personal work ethic. Senators are not the ones who hand out "the American Dream." Welfare has never helped anyone find their American Dream.LOVELY: According to Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, "Uncle Teddy" always fights for what is right KMC: "whether he's teaching us how to drown our love interests, or sail boats..." 9:17pm - CAROLINE KENNEDY KMC: "...To pay tribute to two men who have changed America?" Lindsay Matlock: Faith noticed that every speaker has mentioned "faith and family." It is funny how relative the definitions of "faith and family" can be.KMC: Ok I get it - Barack broke through as the first black man to get the nomination - pretty thin - but a point. But how has "Uncle Teddy" changed America? 9:14pm FAITH AMMEN: Six percent of the delegates this year are gay and lesbian (about 250)KMC: Interesting as that OVERSAMPLES the population. I guess we will see that reflected in the platform fight... Lindsay Matlock: they only gave the native americans 3%... I think they might have a little more invested in the history of this country than the gays and lesbians. KMC: They certainly have a larger population...
9:05pm KMC: CLASSIC - H&C opens their hour of coverage with the Hillary vs. Obama debate - again forcing the issue and making the Obama team overstate the "unity" issue. I also had relayed to me when doing the Ed Morrissey, "Hot Air" show today that ALL of Hillary's senior staff is leaving Denver following Bill Clinton's speech on Wednesday - thus causing Obama's "historic" thursday to be absent of any Hillary's team. Also VERY telling that Terry McCaulliffe has been on the screen for nearly six minutes now - and has not once said anything by way of personal or Hillary'esque in support of Obama. He keeps saying "we have to be unified" not "we're all behind Barack baby." 8:58pm
KMC: For what its worth - I've counted four John McCain ads since we began blogging tonight. 8:46pm KMC: (On Fox) Juan Williams in summary: "Joe Biden helps Obama win the 'Cougar' vote!"
8:43pm FAITH AMMEN: How can Jesse Jackson Jr show his face with his father out talking about cutting Obama's n*ts off? "Obama has a remarkable career in the Senate?" Is this the same Senator who was in office for 163 days before he decided to run for President? LOVELY: About the other topic, though...I definitely think Obama's camp is "protesting too much" when it comes to their current status with Hillary. The questions surrounding why he wouldn't have her as a running mate are just too easy to speculate on, and his camp is too quick to dismiss them as irrelevant. 8:42pm FAITH AMMEN: On Jimmy Carter's video: I agree that volunteers played a huge role. Hurricane Katrina happened my freshman year of college. I remember spending a Saturday morning in a Walmart parking lot loading diapers and canned foods into a huge truck. I also remember 100 of my fellow students who spent their fall break helping the victims of the Hurricane. But to insinuate that our government did not do anything is both irresponsible and inaccurate. $16.7 billion taxpayer dollars went to help Louisiana. There is a very detailed plan of what our government.
KMC: BTW - The Lovely Bride and I are watching FoxNews Channel, and Ms. Faith and Lindsay are watching CNN. We've got OReilly on and they just ran that stupid song parody that's supposed to be a hit on McCain... CORNY! Not even close to measuring up to the brilliant whole stream of ads that have been pouring out of the McCain camp. 8:35pm LOVELY: Different topic--sorry--but I love that there are protesters in Denver who are defending the "rights" of the terrorsists being held at Guantanamo the terrorists who wouldn't think twice about killing them if they got the chance. 8:31pm Lindsay Matlock: CNN came out with a pole this morning that 27% of Hillary supporters are not just unsure about Obama, they are flat out voting for McCain. If that is true then I don't think they can respond too heavily until that 27% is down to 0.

...not the Born Alive thing again... Barack Obama is the only elected official at the federal level to have ever voted in FAVOR of denying life-saving medical care for children who have been born. My column this week touches on exactly the kind of child his position likely did effect in numerous unknown instances. Hence, I am even more compelled to emphasize this flaw in Obama's "character" when I read letters from the mailbag that go thusly:
Kevin,
I've been reading your columns on Townhall for a while now, and you're one of the few writers with whom I literally always agree. Thank you.
And thank you for this article in particular.
Over the past year, my wife endured the parade of ultrasounds and tests designed to determine whether our unborn daughter had anything "wrong" with her.
In the process of asking about the nature and reliability of these tests, we discovered that most of the tests had a relatively high potential for inaccuracy (by my own standards at least). We also learned that identifying ailments (e.g. Down's syndrome) was all the tests were good for; in other words, the defects could not be treated or reversed.
So, I asked the doctor, if the ailment can't be remedied why test for it? Well, your column answers that question quite adequately.
My stomach turned in disgust as I realized that so many Ob/Gyns are using the results of unreliable tests and ultrasounds to encourage women to abort their babies. My queasy feeling did not improve as I remembered that my wife's doctor is a Southern Baptist, yet he would perform an abortion simply to prevent the inconvenience of raising a child with Down's.
There would be no more testing of my wife's unborn child. We decided that in utero inspection of God's gift to us would be an act of selfish ingratitude.
Our daughter is 12 weeks old as of yesterday.
Reading your column brought a tear to my eye. How many poorly calibrated ultrasounds have resulted in the abortion of healthy infants?
This Obama fellow, and the abortion industry to which he panders, must be stopped. But there will always be men like him, for whom a cynical will to power negates any whiff of conscience he might otherwise have had.
Kevin, our society no longer has a moral foundation against which to judge these things. Without religion, all our ethical judgments are little more than moralistic pomp. It seems to me that without a spiritual revival our best moral efforts are little more than rudderless Platonic rubbish.
But even if we could pray our way into revival, how could we fight back the tide of secularism and effect a true Godly transformation of America?
Keep fighting the good fight.
Kind regards, Dave, Texas

Even though "Gallup polls over the last 25 years, nearly half of American adults have consistently said they believe God created all living things in their present form, sometime in the last 10,000 years", there is still constant debate over what should be taught in public schools. Some teachers decide to take a stand and teach alternative theories to evolution: “I don’t think we have this great massive change over time where we go from fish to amphibians, from monkeys to man," biology teacher, Teresa Yancey said. “We see lizards with different-shaped tails, we don’t see blizzards — the lizard bird.” Even the students that were interviewed understood the implications of evolution better than most scientists: “Evolution is telling you that you’re like an animal,” Bryce agreed. “That’s why people stand strong with Christianity, because it teaches people to lead a good life and not do wrong.” Exactly. If you tell kids they are animals, they will act like animals....If we evolved from flotsum in the sea, who can tell us that anything is wrong? If we evolved from animals then nothing immoral can bother us...Abortion, murder, terrorism...all are just natural parts of living out "survival of the fittest."

I doubt there will be a swimsuit section but there WILL be a beauty pageant (arranged by an Italian priest) for nuns. "Nuns are a bit excluded, they are a bit marginalized in ecclesiastical life," Rev. Antonio Rungi told The Associated Press after Italian media carried reports of the idea. "This will be an occasion to make their contribution more visible."
Rungi continued: "But being ugly is not a requirement for becoming a nun. External beauty is gift from God, and we mustn't hide it."
I agree that beauty is a gift from God...but I don't believe that it is something to be flaunted, critiqued, scored and judged.

I Heart China! Commenting on the kids used in the closing ceremonies, "almost impossibly adorable child."
And then again cited the "millions of volunteers" who had worked to make these games successful.
China, "so nice, so hospitable, and a certain amount of them learning serviceable English" adding "I doubt any of us would have done as much."
Where's the Pepcid?

ignorant propagandist If only I had a dime for every stupid remark that was made by the NBC commentators over the last two weeks...
Overheard Sunday night on the Olympic coverage:
"...the song is the march of the volunteers. And it is easy estimate that there have been hundreds of thousands, perhaps over a million volunteers that have brought you this Olympic competition."
Uh NO Bob - coercing your fellow countrymen to work 16 hours a day seven days a week, while only paying them about $8000 a year - is not volunteerism.
It's called indentured servitude, and when you do it out of fear that you or one of your family members will be put into "hard" labor camp, or worse yet executed with nary a peep of what happened to them its called totalitarianism - or what we in the west call - China.

On Saturday nights Baldwin McCullough Xtreme Radio is super charged about having AM 970 The APPLE as our flagship home. So if you're in NYC, and you "heart" BMXRadio, get it tuned in on AM 970 Saturday nights - 9-11pm EST. And this week we welcome yet another affiliate outlet. for those in or around the Lexington, Kentucky area - WVKY AM 1250. Here's just SOME of what we're hitting on Saturday night - so be by the radio (9pm EST): 1. Are Politics IN the stars? In a week or so Stephen will be attending the "largest gathering of Hollywood Republicans" ever assembled in one place. But does it matter? Would you vote for someone or be more inclined to vote for someone - simply because someone you admired greatly was supporting them? Does George Clooney or Angelina Jolie sway your vote, what about athletes, or supermodels? What about Rick Warren, James Dobson, or your own pastor? This week convention season will be kicking off and one VP nominee has already been named, Barack Obama taking Joe Biden. Kevin also wants to know if you would ever hire someone to work for you - especially as your number two - that you just couldn't trust. 800.345.9622 - call us toll free in hour one. Resource: The Kind of Man Every Man Should Be. 2. "Is 6 the new 14?"
This week Kevin was talking to the Lovely Bride, not long ago they had been watching television and a scene from the "Devil Wears Prada" popped up. In the particular scene Stanley Tucci says to Anne Hathaway, "Zero is new 2, and 2 is the new 4." Hathaway responds, "We'll I'm a size 6." To which Tucci responds, "which is the new 14." This began a discussion between KMC and TLB concerning the responsibility of movie producers for the messages being sent to girls about being uber-skinny. Do scenes like the one just cited actually push girls in unhealthy ways? Especially when the movie is targeted to women? 800.345.9622 what's YOUR opinion? 3. Musical features: Rhianna, Archuleta, Sara Bareilles, Taylor Swift, Daughtry, LifeHouse, Skillet, and much, much, more! 4. We'll also fill you in on the first opportunity you will have to come see Stephen and Kevin together in person in September, pick up both of their new books, and enjoy a GREAT evening of all out edgy music with SonicFLOOD in the process... DO NOT MISS THIS! We'd like to thank our sponsors for making it all happen: Christian Values Network, Compassion International, GLYBooks.com, and Hit Me Energy Shots. Listen online: BMXRadio 970 AM in New York BlogTalkRadioStations carrying the show: New York City - AM 970 Washington DC - AM 580 Salt Lake UT – AM 820 Jacksonville FL – FM 91.9 Charlotte NC – AM 960 Richmond VA - AM 580 Newark NJ - AM 970 Virginia Beach VA – AM 1010 Trenton NJ - AM 970 Greensboro NC - AM 830 Hartford CT - AM 970 Winston-Salem NC - AM 830 Cape Cod Mass - AM 970 High Point NC – AM 830 Roanoke VA – AM 910 Hackensack NJ - AM 970 St Augustine FL – FM 103.7 Danbury CT - AM 970 Statesville NC – AM1400 Mocksville NC – AM 1520 Bridgeport CT - AM 970 **NEW** Lexington KY - AM 1250 If you would like to have a station near you carry the broadcast please have that station contact - Bryan Brown - bbrown@wtru.com or call 336/480-2038.

He sure is self-important for a white guy! Didn't see the announcement. But had heard - like everyone else on the planet - that Biden was going to be the choice for days. Biden was actually being the one rooted for by most of the conservatives I had spoken with and talked to in recent days. The gaffe-prone overly elitist Senator could not be a better match for the gaffe-prone overly elitist Senator that's at the top of the ticket. Only - his own Veep is on record as actually saying one of the most racist things possible in recent memory: "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man."
No Senator its actually only "storybook" if you've systematically destroyed the black family unit, worked to make them dependent upon Government resources, and seen to it that Planned Parenthood had greater access to killing black children than any other racial group in the nation. But if you're like normal people - you typically believe that a family who raises their child in the safety of a home with mom and dad, had access to a good education, and is taught some degree of morality along the way - then what you call "storybook" is just... in a word... normal. But get ready friends - Biden is a gaffe MACHINE. Here he is being racist about Indian and Pakistanis: Senator Biden is also not exactly the most honest man you've ever run across either. In 1987 he basically lost his bid for President because he was caught plagiarizing. As it turned out he had been doing that since college. In addition - none of these character issues even begin to touch on the one thing that McCain has turned into yet another brilliant/devastating campaign commercial:

Uncomfortable talking about condoms? Let your cell phone do it for you. India has a new ringtone that blares "Condom! Condom!" "The "condom a cappella" has been designed to break down Indians' reluctance to discuss condom use and to make wearing a condom more acceptable."
"Ringtones have become such personal statements that a specially created condom ringtone seemed just the right way of combining a practical message with a fun approach," said Radharani Mitra, creative director of the BBC World Service Trust. "The idea is to tackle the inhibitions and taboos that can be associated with condoms."
I wonder what would happen if I was sitting in one of my college classes and that ringtone went off? I'm not sure that a ringtone is the best way to break the ice for a discussion about condoms...
