Early Morning God Thought: "Our yesterdays hold broken and irreversible things for us. It is true that we have lost opportunities that will never return, but God can transform this destructive anxiety into a constructive thoughtfulness for the future."

“As I’ve watched the events of the last few days it is clear once again that President Obama is trying to pretend we are not at war. He seems to think if he has a low key response to an attempt to blow up an airliner and kill hundreds of people, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he gives terrorists the rights of Americans, lets them lawyer up and reads them their Miranda rights, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if we bring the mastermind of 9/11 to New York, give him a lawyer and trial in civilian court, we won’t be at war. “He seems to think if he closes Guantanamo and releases the hard-core al Qaeda trained terrorists still there, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he gets rid of the words, ‘war on terror,’ we won’t be at war. But we are at war and when President Obama pretends we aren’t, it makes us less safe. Why doesn’t he want to admit we’re at war? It doesn’t fit with the view of the world he brought with him to the Oval Office. It doesn’t fit with what seems to be the goal of his presidency – social transformation—the restructuring of American society. President Obama’s first object and his highest responsibility must be to defend us against an enemy that knows we are at war.” Track KMC 24/7

...just for kicks and giggles... Earlier today "The Hill" website, which is anything BUT a wholly owned subsidiary of the political right in this nation, posted this story with THIS headline:
"DCCC: Obama 'more aggressive in fighting al Qaeda' than Bush"It featured passages like this:
Democratic strategists Wednesday asserted President Barack Obama "has been far more aggressive in fighting al Qaeda" than the previous administration.
In an e-mail this afternoon to supporters -- which incidentally excoriated Republicans for politicizing the attempted bombing of Flight 253 -- the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) stressed it was President George W. Bush, not his successor, who relegated the fight against the terrorist network to the back burner by turning "its focus from al Qaeda to Iraq."
AND:
“It just goes to show how extreme and out of touch House Republicans have become that their members would try to score political points and even raise money off the terror plot to blow up a plane and kill innocent Americans on Christmas," DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen (Md.) explained.
“It’s long past time for House Republicans to put country before political party and work with President Obama and Congressional Democrats to learn from this episode and act quickly to protect the American people," Van Hollen added.
Ironically on this website - that is not part of the "right wing anything"... Here's how the first page of comments (of which there are perhaps a couple of dozen by now) went: Democrats, you have a major problem. And it's not just all in the minds of batty right wing whackos. America is screaming at you at how "out of touch" you are. And you don't seem to get it. It took the President 3 DAYS to respond to an attempted terrorist attack... His Homeland Czar Janet-the-He-man claimed the terrorist attack proved the system worked. It took Obama another day and a half to refute his imbecilic Czar. Republicans, Independents, Tea Partiers, and even Ron Paul will be out there raising money, not on the tragedy of American suffering, but on the prevention of the expansion of that suffering. And you Geniuses are too ivory tower to see it... Buh-bye in 2010! Track KMC 24/7

I'm back... So guess who's coming back to NYC Radio? My friend, colleague, and formerly competitor Curtis Sliwa is coming on board AM 970, The Apple, as of January 11, 2010. Curtis was a casualty of the radio implosion of 2007-2008 (as was I) in large, publicly traded companies that were struggling for survival. His old station WABC moved him to late mornings, then late nights, and finally off the air all together. The sad thing was that in all the years that Curtis went head to head with IMUS (the current morning show at WABC) Sliwa kicked ratings tail to Imus. But when Citadel took over ABC radio and the I-man wanted to get back on to morning radio in Market 1. Sadly it was the top rated Curtis/Kuby show that got the mafia don's bullet. Curtis is a classy act in radio too. Shortly after moving to the market in 2003, he and the lovely Mrs. Sliwa welcomed little Anthony Chester into the Sliwa home. I sent him a note of congratulations just to express solidarity as a father and fellow radio talker. I was BRAND NEW to the market, and no one knew my name (it was within only a couple of months of coming to the city) and Sliwa took the time to send me a hand written letter of thanks. Our Baldwin/McCullough show makes its base out of our New York flagship AM 970 the Apple. And we're thrilled to be on the same team with Curtis now. I'm not sure how long it will take Curtis to return to Morning show ratings fame. But if I was John Gambling at WOR, and Imus at WABC, I'd start sweatin' -- because the ride just got a lot more intense... Track KMC 24/7

Evidently the bomber who attempted to bring down a flight in Detroit over the Christmas weekend is talking, and the administration had best be listening:
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, charged with the attempted Christmas Day bombing of Northwest Airlines flight 253, told FBI agents there were more just like him in Yemen who would strike soon. And in a tape released four days before the attempted destruction of the Detroit-bound Northwest plane, the leader of al Qaeda in Yemen boasted of what was planned for Americans, saying, "We are carrying a bomb to hit the enemies of God." Yemen has become a principal al Qaeda training ground and the accused suicide bomber told the FBI he was trained for more than a month in Yemen, given 80 grams of a high explosive cleverly sewn into his underpants, undetected by standard security screening.
I'm glad to know that the genius in charge of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, is under the grand delusion that the "system worked", but those of us living in the real world would really much prefer to know that the President would be willing to get tough, really quick, and prevent the coming rounds of this attack...

Chip off the old olive... Lefty geniuses in the blogosphere are attempting to spin the quite damaging YouTube footage of Sen. Max Baucus slurring his words and appearing to be drunk of his gourd. So I thought I'd let you decide for yourself. The Lovely Bride, without any prompting from me took about fifteen seconds to say, "Is that guy drunk or what?" (And she was merely listening to the footage...) Here's Senator Crunky (of whom I can ONLY HOPE that AutotuneTheNews creates a new character out of...):

You seriously can't make this stuff up. When a French leader is more pro-liberty, pro-America, and pro-justice than the American leader is... It is an odd sight to behold. "Whereas Mr Chirac’s stance towards the US was determined by suspicion of US power, current French frustration is aimed at Washington’s hesitancy or even weakness."
Chilly...

"Jesus Christ is not the best human being the human race can boast of— He is a Being for whom the human race can take no credit at all. He is not man becoming God, but God Incarnate— God coming into human flesh from outside it. His life is the highest and the holiest entering through the most humble of doors. Our Lord’s birth was an advent— the appearance of God in human form."

"We talk as if living a sanctified life were the most uncertain and insecure thing we could do. Yet it is the most secure thing possible, because it has Almighty God in and behind it. The most dangerous and unsure thing is to try to live without God."
