Yes - I told you there were weapons of mass destruction too... Colin Powell did what people had been predicting since the summer he would do, side with the new owner of the Democratic plantation. In doing so, no doubt, the press will see this as a referendum on Obama's credentials as COIC. Though if Obama had an ounce of integrity he'd shun Powell completely as one of the main advisers to President Bush who "got us into this mess." (Side note: I don't believe Powell "got us into any mess." He believed the intelligence to be what every other person on the planet believed it to be. After all he was the one dealing with the data processing it and putting together our United Nation's response. Powell was betrayed deeply and personally when the French lied to his face.) But if you pay attention to what Powell was really saying for him - it was all about the Supreme Court and is desire to keep abortion legal - and likely force redefined marriage down the throats of the America that belongs to "Joe the Plumber." Oh yeah... that and "McCain's being a meany."

I don't know why we forget, just because we see a guy who looks distinguished. The primary reason that anyone with a decent job and an education would be an Obama-socialist is to protect the so-called right to abortion. It is the cornerstone of the democratic party. |

It's delightful to watch the fringe, hysterical Neo-Con Right in full melt down over this endorsement.
All over TH, the thearpy is going on: Powell did it because they are both black; Powell did it because he's too old to think straight; Powell doesn't like McSame's campaign; Powell did it because he's still angry at the Bush-ies over his UN lies.... and now, it's all about abortion.
Did it ever occur to any of you people that McSame and Caribou Barbie are a terrible ticket and that our country can not afford four more years that are 90% like the past eight?
Did it EVER occur to you that maybe -- just maybe -- Obama is a better (if not perfect) choice?
You people have ZERO ability to look at your own President's failed record honestly and openly. It always has to be anything or anyone but W. |

cognitive, intelligent post... on any subject! |

Powell was a reasonably intelligent GOP op? right? Then, on Sunday, he's persona non grata? lets evaluate honestly.
McBarbie has run an awful campaign, catering to the KKK types, the religious nutters and a hand full of fringe humans. Meanwhile, Obama is working like a tortoise, and picking up a lot of votes along the way. I feel (as i am doing) that folks are not necessarily voting FOR Obama, as AGAINST McBarbie. Many find McCain unacceptable, but could have handled him knowing if he expired, the person behind him would be able to handle it. Palin is incompetent. She was only picked to pacify the far right nutters. We center-right types were left outin the cold, and we are now voting obama because he's NOT McBarbie.
And no. I'm not 'scared' of Obama. He'll either be one of the worst presidents in our history, or the best. I know that this country will not fall or fail with him at the helm. It may have to go through a refiners fire again, but it will come through just fine.

seems to be a poster child for traitors who wore a uniform... |

if you think my last was merely hyperbole.
Those who wear the uniform are held to a different standard. Regardless of their pigmentation... |

...sounds to me like "The Pet Goat" pretty much hit this one out of the park.
Gen. Powell enjoys HUGE popularity and respect at home and abroad.
Too bad his sterling reputation was almost ruined by W, Dick, Condi, Rummie, et al.
They'll never admit it, but this must hurt. |

gave this endorsement more as payback to the whispering campaign and other things the neocons did to him through the WSJ and other neocon organs when he was Sec. of State. It's called payback. |
