This salty exchange followed a mere attempt by a good and decent man Texas Senator John Cornyn - who himself has to wrestle with illegal immigration in his home state as well - attempted to ascertain some clarity on the number of appeals illegals would have in the new bill. During a meeting Thursday on immigration legislation, McCain and Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) got into a shouting match when Cornyn started voicing concerns about the number of judicial appeals that illegal immigrants could receive, according to multiple sources -- both Democrats and Republicans -- who heard firsthand accounts of the exchange from lawmakers who were in the room. At a bipartisan gathering in an ornate meeting room just off the Senate floor, McCain complained that Cornyn was raising petty objections to a compromise plan being worked out between Senate Republicans and Democrats and the White House. He used a curse word associated with chickens and accused Cornyn of raising the issue just to torpedo a deal. Things got really heated when Cornyn accused McCain of being too busy campaigning for president to take part in the negotiations, which have gone on for months behind closed doors. "Wait a second here," Cornyn said to McCain. "I've been sitting in here for all of these negotiations and you just parachute in here on the last day. You're out of line." McCain, a former Navy pilot, then used language more accustomed to sailors (not to mention the current vice president, who made news a few years back after a verbal encounter with Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont). "[Expletive] you! I know more about this than anyone else in the room," shouted McCain at Cornyn.
McCain is an ill-tempered, arrogant, obnoxious windbag... and one not fitting to be President!
Immigration reform hoax
I hope it all grinds to an absolute halt...
Right thinking individuals need to voice their utter disenchantment with the process and point-out their representatives unwillingness to respond to what the electorate has stated over and over again; enforce the laws in-place, no new laws needed, deport ALL illegal aliens, build the fences, stop the insanity.
Any politician who cannot defend those points does not deserve a single vote.

Two days ago, I sent McCain an e-mail advising him just how much I looked forward to voting against him in my state's upcoming Presidential primary. Every other American should do the same. It amazes me how much RINOs like McCain, Lindsay Graham, Arlen Specter and especiaaly George W. Bush love stabbing their fellow Republicans and political base in the back. I loathe the Democrats but I've got to hand it to them, they stick together like glue. They stand for nothing and appeal to the lowest elements, like illegal aliens, but they do stick together. |

how an imbittered old man can slip off into "Nixon Syndrome" once he concludes that he alone is a genius and the voters have never appreciated that fact! Logic would tell me that if he knows more about immigration than the Texas Senator, to the point of CURSING his fellow GOP border state Senator, then he would consider me "THE SIMPLE MINDED VOTER" to be a full blown idiot!........He now considers himself to be so far above the maddening crowd of the GOP, that he seeks out like minded intelectuals across the aisle to join the "Gang Of 14 Thinkers Club"! Do these silly republicans not realize what powerfull friends he has in both the Democratic Party and Whitehouse? This man's arrogance knows no bounds, and if in the Whitehouse, he would make Bush lokk like the "Undecider"! |

McCain is a dangerous man, an unstable egomaniac. Were he President he would place this country in grave danger. |

All of the comments so far are true. McCain is power drunk and has fallen off his rocker. He needs to be retired by my old neighbors in AZ, the sooner the better. |

"Go Cheney Yourself!"
Good enough for our esteemed Vice President, but not good enough for McCain?

that it was completely illogical that the voters of Mass could elect Ted Kennedy and John Kerry time and again, yet decide one day that they wanted a conservative Governor in Mitt Romney? Well, I found my answers at MASSRESISTANCE.ORG |

HUNTER EXPRESSES “FIERCE DISAPPOINTMENT” OVER SENATE AMNESTY PROPOSAL
I vow to oppose this legislation supported by Senators Edward Kennedy and John McCain. It provides a vast new immigration benefit to millions of illegal aliens who have broken our laws to live in the United States.I opposed the 1986 amnesty act because of this same reason. It proved to be the draw that we predicted it would be.I am deeply disappointed to see history repeating itself.
This package will confirm to the world that the U.S. does not really mean what it says when it comes to immigration enforcement. As a result of the citizenship benefit included in this legislation, despite the fine print, we will see a stampede across our borders.
This vast new amnesty and expansive guest worker program will surely be ridden with fraud and abuse, and ultimately lead to millions of public-assistance-dependent immigrants.
The Senate’s decision to blatantly ignore the Secure Fence Act signed into law last year and only require construction of 370 miles of fence, as opposed to the 854 miles mandated by the law, is a dramatic failure of this legislation. The San Diego border fence has proven that fencing works. The time has come to quickly implement the Secure Fence Act, not retreat from its mandates.
I believe that this package will result in lower wages for America’s already-struggling families by encouraging the importation of cheap foreign labor rather than investing, developing and growing a domestic workforce that will sustain our economy far into the future.
Amnesty is not the answer.Border enforcement must be first and it must be comprehensive. To do otherwise is to repeat the mistakes of the past. This Senate bill is bad for Americans, bad for our workers, bad for law enforcement and, most importantly, bad for national security.I will fight it.Please join with me. http://www.gohunter08.com/shownews.asp?artid=42

Who actually believes the President has any intention of building a fence? How will we enforce new laws when we won't enforce current laws? Will the people breaking current law comply with any new law? What will we do if they don't? Who actually believes, that when George W. Bush delivers on his promises to citizens of other countries illegally in our country, that they will vote Republican? Another amnesty will result in Democrat majorities for decades. How stupid do you have to be to import voters for the opposition at the same time you alienate your own voters? If the GOP surrenders our sovereignty and abandons the rule of law, they may find in November 2008, that they still have their big money/cheap labor donors, but they do not have voters. GOP-RIP
