Because when you have said nothing but, "sit down with cuckoos without condition" the cuckoos suddenly believe they have control, and that their opinion suddenly matters.
See the luxury of treating nutcases, like nutcases is that then the only people they have to speak to are their pet parakeets, and the closeted homosexuals that live with them--

But NOW Obama's gone and
make him big talk 'bout Chief make-things-right and spend big wampum to sit and smoke 'em peace pipe with little brave Mahmoud.
Only problem is now Mahmoud still says crazy things like "
no holocaust ever" or "
I'll show you big holocaust" while
Obama's foreign policy approach just yesterday was still publicly promoting sit down, face to face, can I get you more coffee, how 'bout a specialty 'jihad'-cinnamon-bun just for you kind of talks.
Mahmoud sees all this and says to himself, "Hey, whaddya know? I'm the camel's spit. They worship me. 'Who's da MAAAN subserviant wife number 4?'"
And now he, um, well... sit down with U.S.?
"Uh... not so much!"
Oh yes, "Unless
that half breed apologize to us the way he did to the stinky Arabs on Al Arabyia (we Persians are far more 'Mein Kampf' than they, don't you think). AND THEN... maybe we'll talk about it!"
Rule of thumb people... Marginalize and isolate the crazies. Work with, and support reformers and allies.
