A few days back we relayed the already bubbling story about the two border patrol guards who were imprisoned for shooting a fleeing illegal immigrant, who was smuggling 700lbs of narcotics, in the tushus maximus.
For their efforts to defend and protect the two guards received the heros' welcome of 12 years in prison.
It appears now that evidence is surfacing that implicates the Dept of Homeland Security. Reports indicate that the DHS inspector General, Richard Skinner, did not have the evidence he claimed.
The two patriotic Americans also now seem to have been vindicated on the timeline/testimony of when the incident took place and when it was reported. (This was a major plank in the prosecution's case against them.)
One of the reasons I pleaded with listeners/readers to phone the White House and beg for Presidential pardons for these two brave Latino-Americans was because, I predicted, they would be harshly treated by the general prison population who ARE illegals that they have been busy putting behind bars for the last... oh... their entire careers.
On Monday reports began to surface that indeed as many as 5 illegals had in fact attacked one of the two men and issued him a severe beating.
That report has now been confirmed by the Justice Department.
MUSCLEHEAD MARCHING ORDERS: I would still STRONGLY encourage you to reach out to the White House and encourage them to do what is honorable - to let these men go free. WHITE HOUSE: 202.456.1414. E-mail at comments@whitehouse.gov...
This is a disgrace...and these two fine men should be released IMMEDIATELY! I am outraged that this slimy prosecutor even brought charges, and I am utterly mystified that law enforcement agents have been dumped into a prison population that can AND WILL kill them! This is disgusting and intolerable!
Off thread comment on a lighter note...

I really don't get this or the border situation at all.
How in the world will we have any form of national security if we punish the ones who are trying to protect us and reward the criminals?
And what is Mr. Bush thinking about the border situation? I admire the man and voted for him 2x so I'm not a "Bush hater." I'm truly puzzled that he has such an out-of-reality take on such a serious issue.
These Border Guards MUST be pardoned at ONCE. It makes me FURIOUS how they've been treated. We've written, protested, and signed petitions. I don't know what else we can do for them besides prayer. We're doing that.
BTW, I love you, Kevin and read everything you write. I don't usually comment because you've already said things as well as they can be said. Here's a blanket kudos to you. |

because a pardon erases a criminal conviction. It is like it never happened. Being "released" is known as commuting a sentence, which also means they would still have folony convictions on the record. President Bush needs to issue a PARDON, and we need to keep the heat on the congress to raise the issue with him AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN!! Time to get these guys out before worse happens! |

Good point, but I must also point out that the President is granted the power to pardon under the Constituition, not to expunge. It does make a difference. I agree with you on the semantics, however. I would prefer the expungement, but i would take whatever i could get. |

about the other Border Agent, Rene Sanchez, who "befriended" his childhood friend (the drug dealer) and helped turn in Ramos and Compean? I find myself thinking WHY Sanchez would assist an ILLEGAL Mexican drug dealer...perhaps he and the dealer were in cahoots to share drug profits? I also read somewhere that this other Border Agent, Sanchez, helped the ILLEGAL Mexican drug dealer negotiate and figure out how to sue US taxpayers (which I personally think is really wrong since the dealer is a Mexican citizen.)Anyone have some thoughts on this? |
