Needs a Bailout?

So bankers, mortgage companies, American Express, GMAC, and the domestic auto industry all got bailouts... The Governors of the states of California, New Jersey and others are all in line with their hands out...

And now the Porn Industry--represented by Larry Flynt and Joe Francis--are headed to Washington DC to (with straight faces intact) ask for a partial stimulus package.

Claiming that the poor economy has severely injured the "recreational sex" interest and ability in this downturn these two vile dredges of our society are asking for $5 billion to sustain the losses they've endured.

And they are so articulate...
"With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind," Flynt says. "It's time for Congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America."
And uhm....
Joe Francis, "Congress seems willing to help shore up our nation's most important businesses; we feel we deserve the same consideration."
They also claim that the XXX DVD sector is off 22% in sales from the previous year. Considering my own 401k is off about 48% I can certainly relate.

And I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss the possibility they might get it.

Men that have to turn to porn to satisfy what they are unable to work out in the relational aspects of their lives are truly in sad circumstances, so should we now publicly subsidize the worst instincts in one's proclivities? Should we force the taxpayer to help underwrite the future of an industry that creates all sorts of bondage--both spiritual and emotional--in the women it exploits in creating its profits? Should we as a nation be proud of how "open minded" this kind of degeneracy has brought us to?

You watch, some lawyer will cite some obscure precedent somewhere... mark my words.

The Porn endeavors in America have left marriages, homes, and lives in tatters. And we would be making a monstrous mistake in letting Washington even sniff in the direction of making this request a reality.

I've been unilaterally opposed to ALL of the bailouts to date. This one I especially think they should let starve...
