Most recent election coverage has involved sappy adoration of the liberal's Messiah. Interview questions posed to Obama have included:
"How does this feel, of all the honors that have come your way, all the publicity?" and
"Last time we were together, I handed you a copy of Newsweek, it was the first time you'd held it in your hands with you on the cover. Have you yet held this in your hands?" and
"How will you live up to the expectations of being a Messiah figure." On the flip side, journalists have been gabbing about Gov. Palin's wardrobe, asking if abortion clinic bombers are terrorists (
even though no murders of abortion doctors have occurred in the past decade), and how one should define "elite."
In this swirl of news, important details of the War Against Terror and the steady improvement in Iraq have gotten sidelined. For instance, "Coalition troops formally handed over control of Iraq's Wasit province to the Iraqi government Wednesday. Wasit, about 100 miles southeast of Baghdad,
is the 13th of Iraq's 18 provinces to revert to local security control." This is the picture of success, this is what Americans are fighting for, this is what spreading freedom throughout the world looks like.
But I guess some people would just like to talk about
how many TIME Magazine covers Obama has been on instead...
