Recently as Larry King interviewed one of the OTHER more famous Mormons in the nation, the long time talk show host who had previously been friendly with his guest, asked Marie Osmond about a previously unreported claim that she had been forced to put her son in rehab the same week as her father dying.
An obviously stunned Osmond, put on a good face and attempted to answer the question.
Her famous brother Donnie was not as gracious:
"I was very upset about it," the 49-year-old singer said in an interview that aired Monday on NBC's Today show. "I thought it was very unfair for Larry King to throw that question at Marie the way he did."
Until he learned that the tabloids were ready to break the story the following day and what King was actually doing - was allowing Marie the chance to set the record straight before being mucked up by the gossip rags. And then something amazing happened... an apology.
"I have to back up and apologize publicly to Larry King because I came out and said some things against him," he said. "... In hindsight, Larry King did Marie a favor," Osmond said. "She was able to make a statement about the situation. ... And so she's grateful to Larry."
Not something one sees everyday - especially since society at large tells us to never back down, and to never admit when you're wrong.
So here's the new webpoll question: When you last apologized, did you do it face to face? Should apologies be done in person? Click through, scroll to the bottom right, and vote now. We will discuss the findings on tomorrow's show.
