Over half of " active duty service members" are either pessimistic or uncertain about President-elect Obama. Does this surprise anyone? Why shouldn't our military be nervous about a freshman senator becoming the commander-in-chief? Why shouldn't they be scared that someone with no foreign policy experience is charting the military's course? In addition to his glaring inexperience, he also liked to frequently change his answer as to an appropriate Iraq timetable while he was on the campaign trail. “Being that the Marine Corps can be sent anywhere in the world with the snap of his fingers, nobody has confidence in this guy as commander in chief,” said one lance corporal who asked not to be identified. There are some people who are optimistic about Obama's leadership, including eight out of 10 black service members. What do you think? Is the change could simply because it is change? Will this fresh face provide the vision necessary to continue pursuing victory?
Your United States Military is not allowed a public "opinion" about their Commander in Chief. They get their Vote and that's it. I am not surprised that the "study" shows a large number of so-called "uncertain" service members.
It's up to the American People to bring an effective CinC to lead our military. Once the choice is made, the military must obey the orders of the CinC and the Congress.
You wouldn't want it any other way. |

One of the most brilliant aspects of our government is that the military is under the control of the Commander In Chief. Not a person, but the CIC.
THAT was one of the most revolutionary aspects of our government.
Now that you people on the fringe, hysterical Right have tried to dismantle most of the other important aspects of our Constitution and Bill of Rights, I have no doubt that you will make an attempt on this one, too.
Too bad you were not concerned about our military as a CIC sent our soldiers into a phoney war against a fictional enemy. |
|
Are you feeling OK? Or has your constant state of delusion rendered you incapable of making a truthful and coherent statement.
Please, go back to MoveOn, DailyKos, or Huffy Puffy where your inane comments are welcome. They are not welcome here as you cannot debate without being nasty 24/7.
BTW, it is our military men and women who give you the right to spout and spew your sniveling drivel, you should respect them if nothing else. |
|
Kathy, can you give a specific in Ex-Patrick's comments that were factually innacurate?
Of course you can't. He's absolutely right.
Are you upset because someone dared to offer a different point of view? The sites you mentioned would welcome your opinions, too.
The military is dedicated to the Commander In Chief. Deal with it.
PS: And the earth is round, too. Deal with that one at the same time. |
|
Then who was blowing our men and women to bits over their genius?
Why did the Iraqi people THEN come and fill the streets with joyous celebration when Saddam fell...
And still take time to tell the reporters that are in Iraq AS WELL AS our service men and women, "THANK YOU!"
Phoney war? So the IED's never existed? Nor did the weapons that 12 nations all confirmed DID?
Honestly Rick - you've had some real corkers over the days here. But this state of delusional paranoia you've entered recently is setting new lows... |
|
Because neither you nor Rick can defend one silly thing you consistently say here...
Rick was making asinine arguments about "the right" trying to dismantle the CIC's power.
He offered no substance as to how--he just said yet one more stupidly non-factual statement.
The troops are NOT allowed to make PARTISAN statements about elections and such. But they are every bit allowed to answer surveys as to the confidence they have in the incoming CIC.
And by the way Goat, those men and women WILL serve at his discretion with highest honor as they always have. With sobriety they will carry out their mission.
But it should not be surprising to anyone that the troops would be hesitant to understand Obama as CIC. He's never commanded so much as a real job. I'd have doubts to. You'd ONLY BE HUMAN to do so.
It's not even ultimately a statement about Obama directly or his potential but rather his history.
You guys are so touchy about your guy, I fear you may be in for a very long four years. Because the right will have every reason, justification, and necessity to go after Obama every bit as hard as you left leaning types went after W.
Happy New Year Goat! Get used to it... |
|
|
You go, Kathy! Goat and Rick need to dig their heads out of whatever they are stuck in and wake up and smell reality. ALthough, my ultimate security is in God, I will begin to feel very unsafe from terrorists on Jan 21, 2009, especially considering our then new President commiserates with them. |
|
Of course, Ex-Patrick is right and that's why you resort to the personal attacks.
Here are the two, simple facts that Kevin and his Neo-Con buddies cannot spin away:
#1. The bastards who attacked us on 9/11 had absolutely nothing to do with anything or anyone in Iraq.
#2. There are MORE terrorists in the world now than there were before W invaded Iraq, ergo, we are less safe, not more.
Now, stop. Think. What about those two comments is incorrect? |
|
Ex Pat said "One of the most brilliant aspects of our government is that the military is under the control of the Commander In Chief. Not a person, but the CIC.
THAT was one of the most revolutionary aspects of our government."
This is really a stupid comment. Is the CIC not a person?
Goat, you guys love to blame Bush for the Irag conflict but did you forget that all of your liberal buddies were also rattling swords as loud as anyone. Hillary, Biden, Kerry, etc. were all convinced Saddam had WMD's and was an imminent threat. Do you think it's just coincidental that while there have been numerous terrorist attacks around the globe over the past 8 years there has been not one on U.S. soil? Maybe they like us now? Maybe they have just overlooked us? What do you think?
|
|
I find it incredible that people like Pet Goat can sit comfortably in their homes, bashing President Bush, with no worries for their personal safety.
At the same time, Obama supporters DEMAND that we give him respect. Why? Because he is the President-Elect! Well sorry, folks, how about giving some respect to our President! |

...challenged me to, but here goes anyway...
79% of Al Qaeda leadership is dead.
Al Qaeda HAD operatives in Iraq and operating recruitment and ricin camps in the north.
NO ONE ever said Iraq had anything to do with 9.11... (especially Bush and Cheney).
There were five reasons that we went into Iraq, of which only ONE were the weapons that went missing. And yes Clinton, Clinton, Kerry, Gore, and almost every other leading Dem said they were there BEFORE Bush was ever in power.
But other reasons we went into Iraq included the fact that Saddam continued to carry out attacks against the multi-national force enforcing the no-fly zones that were part of the conditional surrender of us kicking his butt out of Kuwait.
Our pilots were getting fired upon HOURLY.
Now take your Alzheimer's medicine and get a good night's sleep, you'll need it if you ever actually decide to look into the evidence of the terror threat against us... As Obama is now doing, swallowing very hard, and MAKING NO CHANGES to the U.S. effort... |

I wish you well in your new career as a full-time, professional revisionist historian and science fiction author.
In the meantime, here are a few annyoing facts that should keep you busy:
1. Bush kept America safe (provided his presidency began Sept. 12, 2001).
2. He gave America record economic growth (provided his presidency ended December 2007).
3. He vanquished all the leading Qaeda terrorists (if you don’t count the leaders bin Laden and al-Zawahri).
3. He gave Afghanistan a thriving “market economy” (if you count its skyrocketing opium trade) and a “democratically elected president” (presiding over one of the world’s most corrupt governments).
4. He supported elections in Pakistan (after propping up Pervez Musharraf past the point of no return).
5. He “led the world in providing food aid and natural disaster relief” (if you leave out Brownie and Katrina).
Yeah, Kevin. Your drunk, self-proclaimed "Born Again Christian" frat-boy-in-chief will need all your skills to keep him off the dung heap of history.

Are the one who's been tippin' the bottle a bit much! |

Our failure-in-chief said it best. When he bragged that there was no more Al-Q in Iraq, the reporter reminded him that there was NO Al-Q in Iraq before his counter-production invasion.
His brilliant, articulate, insightful answer: "So what?"
