I looked forward to the big rivalry match-up of my Dallas Cowboys vs. the hated Philadelphia Eagles all weekend. I've written on this blog in the past on how beyond disappointed I am that NBC has hired the lying, sanctimonious, windbag Keith Olbermann, but tonight's NBC coverage of the NFL's Sunday Night game was beyond unacceptable.
They started out by dimming the set lights at the end of "Football Night in America", sat around in the dark, and claimed that by doing so - they would be conserving enough energy to power a home for an entire month, or some such non-sense.
BUT THEN at halftime they cut to Matt Lauer looking like an eskimo virgin somewhere in the arctic circle, to preview the week of "Green is Universal" week of programming. He previewed how NBC's "Today Show" will be pandering to the environmental whack jobs all week with reports from himself out of his what appeared to be well lit igloo, Al Roker somewhere in some tropical jungle on the equator, and Ann Curry on the opposite pole.
An interesting observation came from Lauer who confessed to Bob Costas that these remote reports would be very costly, time consuming, and one can only judge - energy inefficient to file all week long.
Lauer then went on to say that Meredith Viera would be back in New York talking to the world's most authoritative experts in climate change, "like former Vice President Al Gore, making his first media appearance since winning his Nobel prize."
Which should just about summarize how 1.)partisan, 2.)untrustworthy, and 3.)totally useless this joke of a "green week" initiative that NBC is posing for.
Blech....
