 Movin' On Up!
Look at these numbers... and let me remind you I've not endorsed anyone yet... but LOOK AT THESE NUMBERS:
Nationally - Rudy 24%, Huck 22% (led briefly late last week in Rasmussen)
Iowa - Jan 3 - Huck 39% (up 8%), Mitt 17%, Fred 10% New Hampshire - Jan 8 - Mitt 25% (down 10%), Rudy 17%, Huck 11% (up 2%) Michigan - Jan 15 - Huck 21% (up 12 %), Mitt 20% (down 5%), Rudy 19% Nevada - Jan 19 - Mitt 29%, Huck 23% (up 6%), Rudy 17% South Carolina - Jan 19 - Huck 30% (up 10%), Mitt 19%, Fred 18% Florida -Jan 29 - Rudy 32%, Huck 18% (up 7%), Mitt 15% California - Feb 5 - Rudy 32%, McCain 18%, Huck 14% (up 10%) Pennsylvania - Feb 5 - Rudy 27%, Huck 13% (up 7%), McCain 13%
Matt Lewis is reporting that it is this very precise momentum that the Romney camp is now actively trying to run interference through...
|
Huck has had tremendous hype from the media for a month. That is by design. It will take a while for that to deflate. The key is to beat him in IA and SC. |
|
Huck is being vindicated...the Philistines are on the run and the Beltway pundits HATE this. I AM LOVING THIS!!!!!
|
|
If Huck does continue the momentum--and wins in Iowa, places 3RD in NH which I think they would be HAPPY with...Wins SC and comes in 1st or 2nd in MI...He will be a Major contender on Super Tuesday.
Governor Huckabee will either:
A: Win the nomination- which begs the question -WHo would he pick as a running mate? Would McCain be open to it-be willing to play second fiddle? Would Romney-after a bruising primary(which his underground bloggers are attacking Huckabee on Aids & gay rights issues-??? which I think will backfire with Republicans...and digging up pardons..etc..they have run a VERY negative campaign.)-Would Romney accept a spot as VP... to patch things up? B. At the least- it would be hard if someone other than Huckabee gets the nomination not to pick Huckabee as the Veep- Either way things are looking up for Governor Huck!!! |
|
It doesn't matter who is running mate is. VP choices are much ado about nothing they never carry the day-if the nominee is weak it does not matter how attarctive the VP candidate is:
(Dukakis Benson vs Bush Quayle)

the GOP elects Mike Huckabee.
Mitt has my vote Fred is a distant second I'll vote for Rudy but won't like it.
I won't cast a vote for Huckabee or McCain.
Other CA conservative friends have been saying the same thing.
I saw this post on RCP today and I agree:
I see a haunting similarity in this 2008 Republican election cycle and the 1976 Democratic election cycle. Mike Huckabee 2008 is the reincarnation of Jimmy Carter 1976. Both southern baptist evangelical (one a preacher, the other a sunday school teacher). Both socially liberal. Both with populist platforms. And both pandering to the evangelicals as "one of us".
Compare that with Mitt Romney 2008 and Ronald Reagan 1976. Both good looking (and constantly being accused of being plastic). Both considered flip-floppers (Reagan changed parties 12 years earlier while Romney changed positions 6 years earlier) Both great speakers. Both promoting a new day in America.
Sadly, Reagan lost the 1976 primaries while Carter won the 1976 general election followed by four miserable years of stagflation and four years of embarrasing foreign policy.
If religious favoritism and religious bigotry weigh this heavily, then we deserve what we'll get.

Sheryl, You got to be kidding. Carter and Huckabee alike?
1. Huckabee pro- Iraq war 1a. Carter anti-all war
2. Huckabee pro-life 2a. Carter pro-choice
3. Huckabee pro-death penalty 3a. Carter anti-death penalty
4. Huckabee anti-gun control. 4.b Carter pro gun control
5. Huckabee anti gay rights 5a. Carter pro gay rights
6. Huckabee pro fair tax, anti irs 6a. Carter: pro progressive income tax, and pro irs
7. Huckabee conservative republican 7a. Carter liberal democrat
8 Huckabee supports fencing the borders. 8b Carter against a border fence
9 Huckabee supports President Bush 9a Carter can’t stand our President
slick mitt's supporters, like mitt himself, will say absolutely anything with no regard whatsoever for whether it’s true or not
But it’s going to backfire badly when he begins his last ditch ad campaign of lies in Iowa. stuffing Iowan’s mail boxes with latter day sleaze ads.
But what mitt sows he shall reap in spades. He is deteriorating in Iowa, and is now totally desperate-and that’s when he is most likely to shoot himself while aiming at others.
He wiggles, he wobbles, he waffles, he waivers; he will say anything to be president.
If mitt's the nominee I am voting 3rd party
even mormons cant stand him: see the Mormons for Huckabee website

is a pandering religious bigot. As Charles Krauthammer said:
"Huckabee has exploited Romney's Mormonism with an egregious subtlety."
And regarding foreign policy, Huckabee didn't even have to wait to become POTUS like Carter to have an embarrassing foreign policy.
I don't like Mike. And if he is the leader of the GOP, I don't want to belong to the same party.

What a shame that the GOP has been ignoring the best candidate of all: Congressman Duncan Hunter (and, yes, he's a Baptist).
What is wrong with you people?
Huckabee might sell to some of you Bible thumpers, but we're not looking for a Pastor in Chief. We need a wartime leader of the free world. What has Huckabee ever done besides tell everybody else what they're soupposed to do with their lives? How has he ever made a living besides pass a collection plate or send a tax bill to your house?
|
|
I am undecided between the two and would like facts in order to make up my mind.
I have seen Huckabee on Glenn Beck's tv show and liked what I heard. Also, if you go to his website you will see his opinions in print on all the issues. I like that as well.
He seems to be a person with like ideas to mine. He seems to have personal conviction. How he could get anything done with the 90% of Democrats and 60% of Republicans in Washington who are self serving idiots would trouble me. Would Romney be able to better schmooz them to get things done? However, would they be the right things to be done? |

the wrong Baptist What a shame that the GOP has been ignoring the best candidate of all: Congressman Duncan Hunter (and, yes, he's a Baptist).
------------------------- I'd love to vote for Duncan Hunter. When will he run? People talk about Fred not doing enough, but I can't even find Duncan at all. Did he fall off the planet? Certainly the media does not even mention his name. His name does not appear on any poll results, and I've never even seen an ad for him - and I live in NH! Just when does he intend to start his campaign?
I'll be voting for Fred Thompson. The mere fact that the media are not in full throated support of Fred is an indicator that he should be our choice. The media Loves Rudy, McCain, and Romney. Why? Because they're all RINO's, and will go down in flames.
Fred Thompson has the right position on all matters of consequence, and has held those positions for longer than the last year - when so many others had their epiphanies - just coincidentally when they decided to run for President.
Fred may not be the most charismatic, but I defy you to tell me where he's wrong on a single issue. I'm voting for Fred, and if you're not, you should look into him further. Duncan is great on the issues, but he isn't even in the race anymore. |

Those are the absolute thinnest, most insincere, and intellectually dishonest attempts at a smear I've seen in a while...

If people would think logically (I know I'm asking alot) Fred is our only choice. Here are simple minded reasons. Beware....some of you may get your feelings hurt!
I think Hunter would also be a good choice, but he lacks organization and money. Plus, his debate style is off the mark. He can't win the primary.
Mitt can't win because he has too much RINO baggage. He could win the Primary, not the General.
Rudy can't win for the same reason as Mitt (RINO). He can't win the Primary, but would have a shot in the General.
Mike can't win because of the same thing as Rudy and Mitt (RINO). He can't win either P or G.
Ron can't win because, well... because he's Ron.
Tom can't win because he is a one-issue candidate. Both the primary and the general are out of the question.
This then leaves us the obvious choice of Fred Thompson. His Conservative credentials can carry him in the primary. His appeal to a sizable amount of centrists will help him win the general.
Fred Dalton Thompson for POTUS!

I am so happy for Huckabee. I think the more controversy that comes his way, the more his poll numbers go up because he takes responsibility for his mistakes. I listened to your show with Stephen Baldwin, whom you said previously endorsed Sam Brownback. It was great to hear a celebrity go against the grain of liberal hollywood. I really admired the faith he showed when he said "when" Mike Huckabee becomes president. I hope he is correct. |
|
|
I have to disagree with your comparison of Huck and Carter. If behavior is an indicator, and the Bible says that "by their fruits you will know them", Carter is not a born again Christian. He is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He is a hater of Jews (God's chosen race to share the gospel) and there are numerous other things I could list that don't bear the fruits of a true Christian. |

and half truths. People who want to believe his political enemies can find enough slander on the web to do so. If you want the truth about Mike Huckabee, what he believes, his stand on the issues - just go to mikehuckabee.com
I'm not saying he's without flaws. What human being has lived half a century without wishing they had do-overs. But, all in all, Mike Huckabee is the real deal. He's authentic. He wants to be President of the United States, not Preacher. His faith "keeps him honest" because he knows he will have to answer to a Higher Power. But he doesn't push it on anyone else.
He's had the experience of governing for 10 years in a State where the legislature was controlled by political opponents. Much of the Arkansas press is controlled by political opponents. Yet he was re-elected. When the Clinton machine supported his opponent. He was named one of the top 5 Governors in the country by Time. His rise in the polls isn't a fluke or an accident. Mike Huckabee is the best candidate for 2008.

Nothing about him thinking Adam & Eve riding any dinosaurs through Arkansas. He seemed to believe similar to what I believe about the issue. You may believe everything they say in school about evolution but I say most of it is propaganda. We weren't around back then to KNOW FOR CERTAIN how we came to be. Yet they still tell you evolution accounts for different species. Like produces like, so I seriously doubt people 'evolved' from any type of lemurs or that lemurs 'evolved' from some lower life forms. Schools have an agenda which doesn't involve needing a 'creator' is the conclusion I came to. Otherwise, why spend time teaching evolution as anything other than theory? |
