Two names are being given the collective nod in the current fiasco that is the GOP's participation in the current AMNESTY legislation that the Senate begins debating today.
Mitt Romney was the savvy candidate, immediately condemning what was known of the measure as early as last Friday. Over the weekend he repeated his crystal clear position that the Z-Visa is amnesty, the immediate granting of temporary status to the 12-20 million illegals that are here is amnesty, and giving them unlimited(F-You) type of renewals and appeals IS amnesty. Mitt's position: "No Amnesty - PERIOD!"
Fred Thompson is the other winner. Long before the debate around this specific bill Big Fred was already talking common sense - on the side of the People - in this issue that some would like to complicate:
After the bill's substance began to leak, Thompson kept sounding like the plain talking - straight forward man that he is.
The loser's are going down... McCain most notably for taking the extra effort to insult fellow Senators - especially those whose views replicate 74% of Republican voters and 64% of Democrats.
goes to Fred Thompson!.........I love a good speech, but in politics, I have found that "Your actions speak so loudly that I can't here what you say!"........Unlike TANCREDO and HUNTERS voting record, here is "The Rest Of The Story".
1. Fred voted yes to allow more foreign workers in to do farm work. H-2A visas.
2. He voted yes to increase visas for foreign skilled immigrants.
3. Voted Yes to restore food stamp benefits to legal immigrants.
4. Voted NO on banning affirmative action hiring with federal funds.
5. 1996 Voted in favor of chain migration and voted to remove higher fines imposed on businesses that hire illegals, and tried to kill volluntary workplace verification pilot program.
6. 1997 Voted for AMNESTY for one million illegal Nicaraguans.
7. 1998 Voted against worker safegaurds and voted yes to allow firms to layoff workers in order to bring in foreign workers.
That's a voting record a little different than his speeches!...........Unlike Tancredo and Hunter! |

The GOP is still searching for a new Messiah.
I don't think it is Fred. Nice guy, too much baggage. ((Excellent post, Roho!))
The "Christian" voters will never allow Romney (that is, if that block still exists).
So, who's it gonna be????
"President Obama" is sounding more like a reality every day.

How do you know what "Christians" will do? Have you taken a survey of them to know what they will do? I will definitely vote for Mitt Romney over any Dumocrat candidate that has so far been mentioned. I would prefer a "Born-Again Christian" who is a true conservative as well, but I don't see anyone like that out there, not even waiting in the wings. Having said that, I repeat that I will vote for Mitt Romney over any Dumocrat in the fight. I think Christians can vote for a Mormon over a Dumocrat. There may be "some" relutance on their part, but I don't think it will be enough for them to stay home or vote in a third party. |

you to vote on a conservative! As a republican and conservative, I have accepted the reality that my own party believes that I don't know whats best for me.(Classic Big Government)By agreeing to very, very, moderate positions, inorder to get the backing of very, very, wealthy doners, they simply see me the voter, as annoying to their beltway negotions! This is done by telling me that McCain,Romney, and Giuliani are conservatives by their standards, and I should comply. The party expects blind faith as we have shown on immigration border security for over 20 years, and despises this internet thing that has allowed simple minded voters to research the past voting records of all! Our parents had to read their local papers dailey, and have no idea which editors were assisting candidates in telling lies to the citizen. 20 years ago, you would not have known about the $90,000 cash in William Jefforson's freezer, and in classic LBJ style, he would have been blackmailed into an important vote!............They have to remove HUNTER, TANCREDO, and HUCKABEE from this race before conservative voters realize that they really are the conservatives, but "OUTSIDE THE CLUB" so to speak. |
