That's the supposed "smoking gun" quote that leads today's headlines on the testimony of Monica Goodling. The former Gonzales staffer and White House Liason. But's lets be reminded here. If Gonzales did anything wrong it was NOT his right to use bias in the hiring or firing of U.S. Attorneys.
Whether he involved the White House is not even the supposed wrong doing. ALLLLL of the above is allowed.
This quote, testimony, and sham of a hearing currently going on has not addressed the nut of the issue. If Gonzales knowingly lied before Congressional hearings - then THAT is a smoking gun. But not this stuff.
If you win elections - you get to hire and fire based on nothing more than your hunch of whether or not you believe the people there will serve the priorities of those in leadership. Team Bush fired 8. Clinton fired ALL of them...
