It is one thing for people to blatantly say, "I do not accept the terms, verbage, history, principles, or doctrine" of any given faith. No one is ever forced to accept a faith system or embrace it  as their own against their will.

It is entirely a different thing to pretend to embrace something for the sure benefit of something enhancing your status as you run for President.

Today's edition of the New York Times released a most interesting "story of conversion" about Barack Obama. It is supposed to be the definitive piece of journalism that explains how he went from being more or less a secular person, to a person with a mild brush of curiosity and exposure to Islam, and then a full blown "conversion" to "Christianity".

There is but one problem. Even though the supposed "Christian" voice of Jim Wallis claims that Obama's story is one of "personal and adult choice" and one of a "conversion" story. There is not one ounce, one iota, one small piece of evidence that suggests a conversion ever took place.

There is much discussion of his reverand's "music and profanity spiked sermons," there is even more discussion of "widespread racism" and resistance against "America's unjust foreign policy." The article clearly articulates a caring relationship, one of mentoring, between Obama and his reverand. There is also much empathy towards "caring for the poor" and rejecting "America's middle classness" (which interesting enough is the single class of people who give in overwhelming numbers the MOST amount of dollars towards poverty relief, the prevention of AIDS, and dozens of other compassionate works - than any other single group of people in the WORLD, not to mention the United States.)

There is also mention of Obama's doubt of any thing like an "afterlife" and "what happened to exist before the Big Bang."

There is talk of how Obama wishes to reach out to "committed Christians" and much talk about how "church and state must be kept seperate."

But what is missing - is the very essence of Christianity itself.

A confession that Barack Hussein Obama was/is a sinner, completely incapable of redeeming himself, that he throws the entirety of his soul upon the finished work of the cross of Jesus Christ, that he accepts that compeleted work, and now dedicates his life to the TRUTH of the unchanging word of God. What is missing is his willingness to submit to the scriptural text, and to urge others to do so as well.

In short - the only things missing from Obama "conversion" to "Christianity" - is the actual conversion AND the Christianity.

A vapid conversion to a non-existent faith, speaking words of meaninglessness - the perfect "religious message" for Barack Obama in 2008.

I read that article this morning
I read that article this morning and am appalled by it. It is so obvious to the committed Christian what Obama is trying to do--win votes by using the Christian faith. Anyone who is a true Christian would not be associated with a church whose pastor spews racism and anti-government rhetoric.

So what?
For years, a self-proclaimed "Christian" has overseen the wholesale slaughter of tens of thousands of innocent Iraq citizens. People who never did a thing to us, people who were guilty of absolutely nothing. But our “Born Again” President has destroyed their lives without any justification whatsoever and not even a suggestion of remorse. And all the while prancing out of church holding his Bible and waving to the cameras.

Suddenly, those who question Obama’s faith seem a bit misguided.

My fears regarding Barak Obama
Regarding the candidacy of Barak Obama for president, the primary which is largely being ignored by the American public is that the radical Islamists in the Middle East want him to win above all other candidates. That being the case, logical voters need to ask why. I can't help wondering why the radical Islamists don't condemn Senator Obama for converting to Christianity, which is supposedly a crime in the Islamic religion, punishable by death. Yet there is not a word of criticism coming from Islamic run countries, not even from Iran. Both realities tell me that we definitely have cause to fear Barack Obama is a presidential contender. We simply cannot take of risk of electing someone who could well be a Muslim plant, groomed over the years, educated at one of the premier liberal bastions, Harvard University. And now the public, especially the extreme leftist branch of the Democratic Party, are heralding Senator Obama as a demi-god. All I can say is "God Help Us" if we're stupid enough to place such questionable candidates on political pedastals.

What Choices!
It boggles my mind on a dailey basis, how a nation of 300 million people can come up with the options that we get for Presidents! And a self proclaimed democracy. Something is terribly wrong when a nation of citizens consistantly go to the polls to vote for the lesser of two evils. I will be currious to see how the French elections turn out, with about 5 parties and 77% voter turnout? There is virtualy nothing about the French that I respect, but perhaps America is ready for multiple parties?

Fish in a barrell....
Dear Lynne –

Arguing with you is fun! I feel like a pit bull with a rag doll.

First of all, your handle pretty much gives away the kind of Christian you are.
Handle:

It’s just my name. No agenda. I’m a Lutheran – that “the kind” of Christian I am. Sorry to disappoint you.

Second of all, what kind of Christian stands by and allows a lead to wholesale slaughter his own people? You, maybe???

Don’t follow this one. What slaughter am I responsible for?

Thirdly, did you happen to see the looks on the Iraqi people when we went into Baghdad?

Are you referring to the look of hope and optimism? Too bad that has all been lost and replaced by civil war, car bombs and suicide bombers.

Did you happen to notice how happy the Iraqi people were to actually have a vote...each time?

Yes! Too bad that it resulted in absolutely nothing. Each time. Where is that elected government now????? But, it sure made a nice photo op!

Have you bothered to notice (even though the MSM doesn't make an issue of it) that most of the Iraqi people don't want us to leave?

Wow! How wrong are you? Let me count the ways....

Here what they thought in 2004:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A22403-2004May12.html

in 2005:

http://abcnews.go.com/International/PollVault/story?id=1389228

in 2006:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/26/AR2006092601721.html

and in 2007:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/19/AR2007031900421.html

Did you pay attention enough to know that our troops know that what they are doing is important, and they want to stay until the job is done?

Wrong again! http://www.csmonitor.com/2003/0707/p02s01-woiq.html

and again: http://thinkprogress.org/2005/12/18/troop-morale/

and again: http://www.washtimes.com/national/20040512-122708-1316r.htm

And if you want to talk about wholesale slaughter, look at al qaeda, coming across the border from Iran.

Finally, you got one RIGHT! But, Al-Q was not there until our failed President’s failed policies in Iraq opened the flood gates:

and, you’re even more wrong....

No, those who question Obama's faith might not be misguided, but yours most certainly is.

Now, tell me again how my faith is the question here????

Wow!
Finally, someone shut Lynne up!

Well done, Manfred!!! I've been hoping someone would nail her to the wall and you've done it!
Stephen writes: Thursday, May, 03, 2007 6:01 AM
Elisabeth, you're right.
I've been reading Lynne ridiculous posts for quite a while, too.

Manfred: thanks for taking her apart!
