If you have ANY decency, integrity, or character - then this reality should offend you to your core...

Aborting Ugly Babies
Well, being the mother of 2 special needs children who are indeed special to everyone in their lives, this is disgusting. I can tell you as the mother of a boy who has a "different" left hand, that what God wants to do, will be done regardless of what we want to do. OK, so the French Horn is off limits to him, but he plays a mean Cornet(small trumpet!) At a recent hand Dr appointment earlier this week, my 10 year old responded to the Dr's offer to 'fix' his hand with,"That is my hand which shows how special I am to God." Thankfully, the Dr assured my son that his hand would always be "special"(very true) but would he like to be able to use it better? The answer was affirmative.
This article brings to mind a movie Possibly named Gattica with Uma Thurman as the leading female where the child was not "Perfect" at birth and that child grew up with a stigma because of it. Now, thankfully, my son's difference (not a disability because he is able to do 95% of what I can do, and God covers the rest) is quite minor. But who cares? I inherited a whole host of issues:flat feet, near-sightedness, scoliosis, the desperate need for braces, and my parents loved me BECAUSE of these imperfections. We are all quirky, that's what diversity is about. I understand that this squint may be linked with a gene syndrome for Asperger's Syndrome (a type of autism) but everyone whom I know with an Asperger's child loves that kid like no other. I mean it. OK they are higher need than a 'typical' child, but even typical children take a turn for high need 50% of the time. Again, what's the point of eliminating the diversity God gave us? And yes, God designed and created my children-don't know who else could know my kids before they were born and set the time and place for each one of them. I know no one with an autistic/ Adhd/special needs child who would trade that child for the world.
