Kevin may get mad at me but I must say...how can you not love listening to Obama? He takes a boring, depressing, and aloofly intellectual topic like the economy and transforms it into poetry. I practically wanted to put entire sections of his speech into my quote book (we cannot rely "on the worn-out dogmas of the past"....his "plan  recognizes both the paradox and the promise of this moment" He's shattering the Eloquence Meter!! It's like his campaign speeches on steroids!)

But then I start to realize that what Obama SAYS is not what he plans to DO.

Today's example:

Towards the end of economic speech Obama says "the time has come to build a 21st century economy in which hard work and responsibility are once again rewarded"...Obviously I would usually give a hearty "Amen" to this statement yet I realized that Obama was lying through his teeth because his economic plan says the exact opposite. His suggested "tax cuts" come in the form of welfare checks rather than providing relief to individuals and businesses that can stimulate and invest in the economy. When Reagan came into office, taxes for the wealthy were set at a nauseating 70%. Did this give the government a bigger influx of funds? Absolutely not. Reagan reduced taxes by 2/3 for the highest brackets which in turn doubled government revenue.

Our economy will not respond to a government elixir. It will respond to the American people where they are given the freedom and opportunity to spend their money in their economy. Has Obama really so quickly forgotten the lessons from Joe the Plumber? Does he not remember that we realize that he is promoting the redistribution of wealth and thinly veiled socialism? No matter how beautiful his speeches are, the words soon fade into a saccharin haze of unbelievability.

But at least I'll enjoy listening to all presidential addresses for the next four years...
