Here is a new twist American Idol can think about adding to it's next season: Pick the contestant with the best voice, see if their face is "flawless" enough for TV, decide they aren't "cute" enough, pick a prettier contestant to lip sync to their voice and take all the credit on national television in front of billions of people.

Sound twisted? That's what happened in the Olympic opening ceremonies just a few days ago.

Seven-year-old Yang Peiyi's voice is the one we all heard. But because Yang wasn't "flawless in image" (as Chinese children are supposedly required to be),  Lin Miaoke was chosen to lip sync to Yang's voice. There is something disturbing about an events manager who is criticizing the looks of a seven year old and how it will affect the Chinese image...

Right!
Right! Let's help those barbarians! No culture is more obsessed with shallow appearances than we are. Let's offer them the American way to find beauty: surgery, face lifts, tummy tucks, lipo.

Maybe we could give them a few examples: a quick look at a few of the Beverly Hills science projects currently on Fox "News" out to do the trick. Those broads scare me to death!

Goat...
I believe you meant "ought" to do the trick...

Man girl - you're having a rough week.

An Old Trick
The same thing was done on Hannah Montana. The role was cast for an antagonist name Mikayla. The song "If Cupid Had a Heart" was sung by a girl named Julie Griffin. But Griffin looked too mature for the role. Doe-eyed Selena Gomez was chosen as Mikayla and lip-synched Griffin's song. And who can forget crazy man Tom Cruise doing Bob Seger?

But they didn't do a very good job in China. Peiyi is just as adorable as the imposter.

Yes - but the difference with HANMON
Was that they didn't do it because she didn't have straight enough teeth...

Can you imagine being the little girl - and having that news given to you - that you were too ugly or unwanted to be allowed to represent your nation on the biggest night in your recent history?

Dave - do you not see anything at odds with the Communist system at all?

,,but, though
..but, though I get the Communist allusions..

..the fact remains this has been going on in the entertainment field for years....And sharing it's being done to/with children..only echoes a larger world trend..not, parse, a grizzly quality of China, or Asians

Yes, it's a bit tweaky and controlling..
But is it any less strange than some of the frankenstienian things we are seeing in other news today?

~ANY transgender topic on tv..
~Many recent tv shows revolving around talks on evolution..Or even using the word..

~Viagra for babies!

One could argue that's another plastic-y tentacle of the culture-of-death..
But the comment above that other guy made is true!

Any quick scan across a tv will prove America, and today's culture, is pretty fixated on the shallow, the illusion of immortality, (for the body, mainly..)

And, that they are messing with God, and science, to achieve personal goals, sometimes to a sinful and excruciating end. I don't think that is so much just an earmark of a Godless culture, though it may well be part, as it is a modern day spiritual dilemma which become is pretty epidemic.

Call it shallow-hell or Mengele'..
There are countless traumas the world-over..

Superficiality, a disease of the soul, is something folks will struggle with til they meet Him in the end.

Seems like every grasping at the obvious, rather than do the honest work of a soul-search.

And anyway, I think the girl on the right much is cuter.

But what do I know?

I am a bit more to love than a size 4, and have a few delicate strands of grey in my hair :^)

oh gosh I'm spending too much time on here..

yeesh, I need to go..

Not a Trait of Communism
That's what I was trying to say. Evidently SOME PEOPLE think only communist governments pick performers based on their appearance. How ridiculous to think that!

Julie Griffin wasn't selected as Mikayla based on her appearance. She wasn't cute enough. It's the same thing. Communism sucks. Oppressive governments are even worse. But this has nothing to do with communism.

I mean come on.
