DOOM! If this new finding by Rasmussen turns out to be true... McCain is in for an even tougher ride than even I've foreseen:
Republicans like Sen. Barack Obama nearly as much as they like their own likely presidential nominee, Sen. John McCain, according to a new Fox 5/The Washington Times/Rasmussen Reports poll.
The survey determined that a quarter of self-identified Republicans rated Mr. McCain most likable, but nearly as many — 23 percent — chose Mr. Obama as most likable. And among all adults surveyed, Mr. Obama was rated likable by more people than Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Mr. McCain combined, underscoring the Illinois senator's appeal to voters across the political spectrum.
"There is something about Barack Obama that is hard to capture in polling and it's an enthusiasm, it's a freshness, it's an excitement he can generate that will certainly be a factor in the campaign," said pollster Scott Rasmussen.
I know that "likability" comes into play somewhat in voting. However, I wouldn't be too concerned with a poll 8 months out that asks about who is likable. This graph is more important: "Mr. McCain led with 39 percent to Mr. Obama's 17 percent and Mrs. Clinton's 19 percent when those surveyed were asked who "will be the toughest on matters of national security." Even among self-identified Democrats, Mr. McCain fared decently with one in five rating him toughest." Jimmy Carter was a pretty likable fellow too. If Obama wins the nomination you will see a huge case of "buyer's remorse" in about 4 months. If you say you are conservative and vote Obama, well I've got news for you: you're not conservative.

I like Obama, but think is misguided on almost everything and would never vote for him in the General election. |

I think he is a great guy. I would even consider voting for him . . . if here were running for the city council. For President? Not likely. |

McCain is a decent, brave, honorable man -- the total opposite of our current disgraceful looser-in-chief -- and I respect McCain tremendously.
But, if it's McCain vs. Obama, poor John will be way out of his league. If it's McCain vs. Clinton, then there will be a real contest. |

oh please....
BTW guys I found some brilliant/awesome analysis on Obama’s Fundraising and other current happenings on the campaign. I haven’t seen anything like this mentioned anywhere in the MSM. Check out the article “Follow the Money” on http://savagepolitics.com/?p=165, “Bush’s Twin and the G.O.P.” http://savagepolitics.com/?p=172 and “Barack Obama’s Apotasy” http://savagepolitics.com/?p=101
Check their “Political Analysis” and "Humor" sections for other striking perspectives and comedic analysis on both parties.

A response for Sullivan: big government debts: okay has he read Obama's blueprint? More taxes equals less money going to the government. That is proven time and time again. Okay, unity among Dems and Repubs. Has Sullivan ever heard of Jefferson and Hamilton? Over 200 years and counting of partisan politics. Give me a break and get a history lesson. The economy: Okay, more taxation is even worse for the economy. Killing NAFTA is bad for the economy. Socialized medicine is bad for the economy. Higher business taxes are bad for the economy... Iraq: Okay, read NYT today about how young Iraqis are feeling disenchanted with religious fervor. Freedom has brought opportunity and choice and it is working. Looks like the idiot Bush was right about freedom. And by the way, Sullivan, waterboarding was used 3 times to great effect. Get over it. |
