This piece in the Washington Times is very telling.

Christian leaders are ready to throw their support behind Fred Thompson if/when he runs. In speaking to one of America's most prominent pollsters on Friday evening - such a move would seriously impact the Giuliani numbers, and all but eliminate the need for the Romney campaign to exist.

Nothing against Romney - I know of number of Christians - some high profile - that are willing vote Mitt if Fred's not there.

But for Christians it looks like Fred's the man!

Nothing against Romney?
I don't believe you. Based on your past attacks on Mormonism in the context of Romney's candidacy. What purpose does it serve to loudly proclaim that Mormon's aren't "like us", they're not "Christian", other than to dis-credit Romney?

Further, here you state that if Fred were to run then there'd be no need for Romney's campaign. As if he were merely a placeholder for a "qualified" candidate who is "palatable to us".

In my opinion Romney is in fact much more qualified than Fred Thompson, and I think it reveals your true dis-regard of Romney because of his religion. Your ego and belief that you are so "right" in the realm of faith makes you nearly blind to the actual substance of Romney's character.

I'm not saying Fred Thompson is not a good candidate, what I'm saying is that it is idiotic for you to think that Romney is beneath him.

Look at what each has done in their lives: at work, in society and at home. Look at the attributes of character that are important in a president. Romney lacks for nothing compared to Fred Thompson.

Now, YOU look at religion. Oops! Romney must be stupid or there must be something wrong somewhere because any real "smart" person would think just like me and my crowd.

I'm a Southern Christian:
And I'm not impressed with Fred Thompson's VOTING RECORD! HUNTER/TANCREDO have much better records. Fred's is Questionable:
1.Voted yes to allow more foreign workers in to do farm work. H-2A Visas.
2.Voted Yes to increase visas for foreign skilled immigrants as well.
3.Voted yes to restore FOOD STAMP BENIFITS to legal immigrants.
4.Voted NO on banning Affirmative Action Hiring WITH Federal Funds.
5.Voted no to issue trade sanctions against China if found to sell WMD's to other nations.
6.Voted "Fast Track" for the President on trade agreements, without congressional oversight.
7.1999 voted in favor of chain migration and voted to remove higher fines imposed on businesses that hire illegals, and tried to kill volluntary pilot programs for workplace verification.
8.1997 Voted amnesty for 1 million illegals from Nicaragua.
9.1998 Voted against worker safegaurds and voted yes to allow firms to layoff American workers inorder to bring in foreigners.
10.2000 Voted for a foreign worker bill with NO anti-fraud measures.

The guy is as open border mentalty messed up as McCain/Kennedy/Bush! Hunter/Tancredo have much better voting records.(See the VOTE RECORD and ignore THE MOUTH)

Leaders Ain't The Voters!
The HE conservative survey of 3602 conservatives, with 28 issues have voted. And the number one issue for conservatives is ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION at 86%

2. War on terror. 80%
3. Federal Spending. 65%
4. Supreme Court and Judicial Appointments. 64%
5. Flat Tax/ Tax Cuts. 61%
6. Size of Government. 61%
7. Iraq. 55%
8. Social Security. 45%
9. Entitlement Programs. 38%
10. ABORTION. 36%

HUNTER/TANCREDO have been right all along, and American citizens are fed up with this existing open border Government!

Christian ?
Why do you care about Christians, as yourself aren't Christian !
observe1234 writes: Tuesday, May, 15, 2007 12:15 PM
Why?
I mean it, why would Christians be so excited about Fred Thompson. I don't think his record is so great on the issues.
