$4,290
...per person?

So I did a little bit o'math today...

After we found out today that by the time you add interest, financing, and the actual true numbers of what the stimulus package calls for that the REAL amount it will cost in REAL dollars today will be: "Ta Da...   ONE POINT THREE TRILLION!"

Here's what that looks like in case your calculator can't hold a number that big: $1,300,000,000,000.

Now keep in mind that we have roughly 303,000,000 people as our most recently certified population (July 2008).

Now since the government seems so insistent on doing a "stimulus" anyway - here's one they could get everyone to go along with...

Since 1.3 trillion divided by 303 million comes out to $4290 per person, why not give it directly BACK to the people. A married couple would get $8580. A family of three (2 parents, 1 child) would be $12,870. A family of four $17,160.

Tell me that wouldn't FLOOD the economy with the ability to recover!

I dare you!

Then we wouldn't have to fund condoms, or ACORN, or any of the other stupid things that are being thrown into the package faster than someone can blink...

Good Stimulus Plan
I think that's a great stimulus plan. That would definitely increase consumer spending, albeit temporarily, but another similar stimulus plan could be implemented next fiscal year and the one after that. Of course it won't encourage Americans to save, but the next generation can worry about saving and paying off the debt we've accumulated.

If you keep inflating the bubble, it will never burst.

we would still pay for it
I would love for the government to send me all that money. Problem is, me, my children, and my children's children would be in hock to Uncle Sam for a very long time. Of course, we are going to be no matter what so we are basically screwed comrade.

Annie... you're a grown woman...
Right?

SPEAK like a lady...

Scarlett - please enlighten all of us...
How will the 1.3 trillion dollar stimulus correct the economy.

Without referring to Bush (because this plan will be Obama's) please use rational argument and plain language to explain exactly what the American economy gets by taking $4290 from every individual in America, AND by spending it on things that have nothing to do with jobs, commerce, production, or economics...

We are waiting oh lady articulate...

Don't hold your breath.

But thank you. The best way to chase off this lightweight is to ask it a question...she can't answer a single one. BDS is all she knows.

You Repubs had your chance since
1994 and then definitely since 2000-2007. Let the grownups do the work now.

Finally!
Finally, Kevin and his Neo-Con buddies are suddenly concerned about the economy and are expressing ideas of fiscal responsibility.

WHERE have you been for the past eight years, while your President ran up a bigger debt than all previous President's combined?

WHERE have you been while your President flushed $10 Billion every month down the toilet of Iraq?

WHERE?

Pet SHUT UP...
Stop the lies...

I opposed every bailout...

I supported the tax cuts - which kept the economy strong aside from the final year...

You are propagating a blatant untruth...

I did speak out for financial accountability...

And for you to say "no" is fundamentally dishonest!

Because It's Socialism?
"why not give it directly BACK to the people."

Since the rich pay substantially more taxes than the poor, what you are recommending is:

TAKING FROM THE RICH TO GIVE TO THE POOR!

aka SPREADING THE WEALTH.

I thought that was a bad thing to do.

Correction
Kevin has defended every dot and comma of the Bush administration since I've been wasting time on this blog.

Revision history is a powerful thing!

Wrong, again.
Kevin criticizes anything Republican in general and the the Bush administration in particular with the same gusto and determination that I use to discipline my grandchildren.
