"where's the dang knob?" For the past eight years I have suffered the intolerant hate-filled-froth that has rested on the lips of "intelligencia." And by "intelligencia" I usually refer to people who have such high opinions of their learned place in life that they rain down condemnation and snobbery upon the poor schmucks like me who think common sense can be a more valuable commodity than ivy league tenure. (It can also include but not be limited to pretty much anyone else on the theological or political left in today's society. I've personally spotted froth on the mouths of fellow church goers, relatives, and an 80 year crackpot who comments frequently on this page that fancies herself witty--but incapable of defending a single thing she has ever stated... and likes to name herself after a popular barnyard animal. But hey it's intelligencia and we're not allowed to question it... Maybe it's to do with the smell...)
These people all believed one thing in common. Or maybe several. But the biggest, most important one that they all agreed upon universally, was that our past president was the dumbest man to ever walk the face of this planet.
They made jokes about how he walked. What he said publicly about God. The fact that he actually thought Al Qaeda were animals that, perish the thought, should be locked away from the rest of humanity. They made jokes about what kind of parent he was. They made jokes about President Bush making Condi Rice his own personal Sally Hemmings. AND They made jokes about pretzels missing their intended "target." (And by "joke" I mean something that they likely told their friends in the teacher's lounge and everyone giggled at.) They made them about new words like "strategery" and "misunderestimated."
These types applauded the Dixie Chicks when they went to foreign soil and spit on their nation. And oddly enough they actually DO feel like the United States should apologize for keeping her citizens safe for the past eight years. But I digress.
Now that the chosen O has replaced the much scoffed at W there seems to be a high road of hypocrisy that the frothy-pants seemed to have put in place.
(Especially given the fact that to date it is Barack Obama who had the dumbest of all time responses ever in a presidential forum in the history of planet earth. Fat Albert's friend translated it this way: "Uh... that-ba would-ba be-ba an answer-ba above-ba my-ba paygrade... bah...")
But see we were never told by Brian Williams that everyone who had ever been president prior to W was evil. Or that he had been the editor of the Harvard Law Review. Or that he was the most famous person in all of history.
So maybe it's because of all those "accomplishments" that the press gets to give Obama a near shut out of coverage when he tries to use window as though it were a door earlier today outside the Oval Office.
For every mishap that W ever had there were non-stop commentaries for weeks about his IQ (which was higher than Al Gore and John Kerry's) and his manliness though he was perhaps the most fit president ever to serve. (Big Bad Barry O only grudgingly released his medical records to the public because of his addiction to nicotine.)
I don't take delight in anyone trying to open a locked door--even one not in his own house (as Bush did) or to try to convert an Oval Office window into an entry way (as did Obama). But I do think that if one gets the label for being imperfect, the press has an obligation to return the favor, especially when the expectations on said chosen one are higher than ever before in the history of mankind.
And full disclosure here, I've tried to go through a shut door as well. But I was 17, and in a hurry to complete a task on the university campus so that I could meet up with the hottest brunette in attendance. Running at a dead sprint I hit the closed glass door full speed, and needed eight stitches at the campus hospital. Worked out though... the next morning major sympathy from the cute brunette... AND her phone number!
Imagine what the press would've said about that!
No, W isn't dumb. He is not busy splitting atoms in his spare time. Nor does he pass away the hours memorizing lengthy passages of Shakespeare as Lincoln did.
But he is "Madonna" smart: smart enough to know what people want and to give it to them. Or, as some people call it, “Smart Like A Fox.”
Bush is also not a Texan, but rather a Connecticut Yankee, Country Club WASP who bought a non-functioning ranch for photo ops just before deciding to run for President in order to create a phoney image as a faux cowboy.
What he is absolutely not is any kind of a Chrisitan – that was his biggest sham and the one that Kevin and his Born Again/Evangelical friends fell for hook, line and sinker.
A Christian would never oversee the wholesale slaughter of tens of thousands of innocents (Iraqi citizens) who never did a thing to us and posed zero threat with such a cavalier and self-righteous attitude, complete void of any human compassion.
As for the Great-Grandmother on this blog: Kevin takes that bait every time she throws it out, too. She must giggle with delight at his responses.
And, finally, “My Pet Goat” was the name of the book W picked up and proceeded to read for almost twenty minutes after being told about the 9/11 attacks.
Obviously, her screen name is a reference to that and not to a barnyard animal.
Now, who is it that is not too bright? |

"A Christian would never oversee the wholesale slaughter of tens of thousands of innocents (Iraqi citizens) who never did a thing to us and posed zero threat with such a cavalier and self-righteous attitude, complete void of any human compassion."
It was at this point that your post drove off the cliff and plummeted into the canyon of liberal absurdity. Thought I'd help by pointing that out. You're welcome. |

Both of you -- Ex-pat/rick in Geneva and Michael.
|
|
|
Would you mind explaining in the most technical of terms, precisely what a Christian is defined as...? |
|
Maybe I should have elaborated on my earlier point. Ex-pat/Rick in Geneva (EPRIG for short) made the assertion that we just indiscriminately killed tens of thousands of civilians in Iraq. This is patently absurd.
No nation in the history of the world has wielded greater power, yet with more restraint, than has the United States. The vast majority of civilians killed in Iraq were killed by TERRORISTS (car bombs, suicide bombs, etc.), not by the military. Of those who were killed by our military, most of those were disingenuously characterized as innocent civilians by our biased media, but were actually insurgents that we were fighting against, in other words: THE ENEMY.
Certainly there were others who, despite every effort of the military to avoid it, were inadvertently killed. This is something that has regrettably occurred during every war throughout history, though our modern day procedures and weapons accuracy have dramatically minimized these incidents. While every innocent person killed is a tragedy, to portray our military as bloodthirsty, indiscriminate killers is exceedingly dishonest and in fact is the polar opposite of the truth. |

If you deny Bush was dumb, you are biased. The end. |
|
The only problem with that "test" is that liberals (I don't know if you fall into that category, of course) try to have it both ways: Bush was an idiot, while at the same time he was an evil genius plotting to implement a police state (what happened to that, by the way?).
So which is it, idiot or evil genius? |
|

Has anyone else noticed that after you post a comment on TownHall it sometimes disappears, only to reappear and re-disappear (not a word, I know) upon repeatedly refreshing the page? |

"The end." This is an incomplete sentence. Now...what were you saying about Bush? |
|
Kevin, it's refreshing once again to see a blog post that doesn't include bashing homosexuals and their insidious "agenda".
The problem though, is that people didn't think Bush was an idiot because he made one, two, three, or even four, five, or six blunders. It was a chronic pattern with him. It got to the point where nobody was surprised anymore though it never stopped them from using it as ammunition against him.
The smarter ones of the anti-Bush crowd also know that he was not an evil genius plotting the implementation of a police state loyal to corporations. Instead, they knew he was the rubber stamp puppet to the people that were(though it's hard to say what the ultimate endgame actually was with the neocon agenda.) |

...defeated the brilliant Leftists - twice.
The dumbest President ever, fought Al Qaeda, the Democratic Party, Mainstream Media, Academia and every other group that hates the United States.
And he's still standing, Iraq is all but a complete and total victory and we haven't been attacked since 9/11/2001.
One would think that all the Liberal world; with all their intellect and brilliance...could manage to defeat just one dumb "cowboy"...wouldn't ya? |
|
You do realize that presidents are elected by voters, right? This wasn't a game of RISK. This was the Bush administration playing to every fear the American public had with one hand, and with the other, massaging the religious voters. The Swift boaters played a role as well. Luckily, voters didn't fall for that same line of trickery this time around i.e. Obama is a terrorist, a muslim, etc etc.
That's what got him two terms. The fact that Kerry was a boob helped too. |
|
|
Bush was elected President. Twice. How is that a sign that he is dumb? Obama has been elected President. Does that make him dumb, too? I do not agree with the philosphy of President Obama (I also did not agree with everything President Bush did)however, I do not think The Chosen One is dumb. To think that you are smart by calling someone names really reflects poorly on your own intellect. |
|
Those that are so quick to point out all of our former President's short comings please step up, put your name on a ballot and run for office. That way we can see how well you perform infront of the cameras.
Each and every one of us walking this planet screw up and get laughed at. The only difference is we don't have photographers, cameramen and reporters following our every move.
Obama will have slips, get tongue tied and try to go through more windows. Just take his teleprompter away and we will all have some fun. This doesn't make him or anyone else an idiot, it makes them human.
The difference worth debating will be how the media portrays it. Does it make front page fodder and all the late night programs or is it only reported by a few conservative bloggers? My bet is that for the first two years it will be only the bloggers until the country realizes Obama is just another politician making big promises and doing more harm than good. That's when late night TV will have it's fill. |

"...those victimized schmucks who regularly spew hate-filled rants..."
Could this be what you are referring to? -
"... him and his signature wingnutty, vitriolic, intolerant gasbaggery..."
Or perhaps this? -
"...Shrillanne Coulter's..."
Oh Scarlett, you are endlessly and unintentionally amusing. Liberals never see their own contradictions and hypocrisy. After all, it is liberals, is it not, who lecture us endlessly about "tolerance" and freedom of speech, while at the same time mobilizing gangs of thugs to silence the voices of any conservative who would dare be invited to speak on a university campus? |
|
Last time Kevin singled me out he was kind enough to actually put a photo of a goat in the heading. I've been demoted!
(PS to Patrick: Please don't give away my secret regarding "My Pet Goat!") |
