sex deterrent I've reread this story thrice. I'm still greatly confused at what the father did to be arrested, have to go to jail, and post 10,000 bond. I know a good number of fathers that if faced with the same circumstances would have been dragging a warm corpse to the curb. BTW, future boys interested in climbing into my daughter's bedroom windows and getting funky in my house, I prefer handguns to lead pipes. And I don't shoot to wound...
read it a fourth time. He used deadly force in what were, if the story is true, ridiculously unjustified circumstances. If I happen upon your naked teenage daughter in my son's room, will it be alright with you if I shoot and kill her? Bludgeon her with a pipe?
(Or would you rather I act like a grown man, and ask her to put her clothes on and go home?)
Its hard enough securing gun rights in this country -- macho jerkoffs like this pipe-swinging asshat and keyboard cowboys with comments like yours make it even harder. |

Takes the prize for the most ridiculous equivocation ever made on this blog...
Your son sneaking in - and getting buck naked in my daughter's room is just reason enough for me to do whatever I need to - to protect my daughter.
Remember, the father hears the noise and goes to investigate... A naked man in my house - ANYWHERE is just reason enough for me to take any measure necessary to stop him in his tracks.
And look mule (great name by the way). A girl in your son's room is not the same as and adult male (or one that appears to be) in a girl's room.
And if you had any daughters you would understand the natural protectiveness every father in America would express in the same circumstances. |

You're both right and both wrong.
The situation certainly deserves outrage, fury, anger, etc.
It does not, however, justify murder. |

A naked man in my daughters room would not be assumed to be there for a little harmless fun. If you knew who he was, then its going to be harder to justify strong force, but an unknown (to the father) guy deserves what he gets. I would have a gun, not a pipe or a bat. Given the guys location, that could save his life - you don't want to discharge a firearm toward your daughter.
I hope the jury is composed entirely of parents of girls. No way the guy gets convicted! |

If you would also kill your daughter in such a case, since she almost certainly would have invited him in and been as guilty as him.
We Christians don't believe that women are preserved from original sin or temptation.
(now if it was a rape attempt, that is different) |

Would Kevin murder the young man if the act was not rape?
And, if it was not rape, would he murder his child, too?
If not, why not? |

Heartlander and Pet Goat are missing the point on this one. Nobody is saying shooting this guy is ok just because he's having sex with the daughter. Therefore, the daughter's complicity is irrelevant. The issue is finding a naked stranger standing on your daughter's bed in the middle of the night. If that's me, I'm shooting. If it's her boyfriend, or even a neighborhood kid I know, that's different. |

...Is the "Values Voter" take on human sexuality!
Well, it's a good thing none of you were raising Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol or that young man sitting next to her would be dead, huh? He'd be dead. Think about that, "Values" voters. |
