Rasmussen: Huck holds nationally...

With just a week to go until the Iowa caucuses, the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll continues to show five Republican hopefuls in double digits nationally. In the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination, it’s Mike Huckabee at 20%, Rudy Giuliani 18%, John McCain 14%, Mitt Romney 13%, and Fred Thompson at 11% (see recent daily numbers). Ron Paul currently attracts 5% of Likely Republican Primary voters nationwide.

More proof
That the MSM's puffing of Huck and McCain is working. It's amazing that republican voters don't smell a rat and are letting the MSM pick their candidate. They're trying to bury Romney and Rudi, the two who could actually win the general. Wake up people the MSM wouldn't be promoting Huck MCain if they thought they could win the general, they want Clinton back in there. This is the same herd mentality journalists that rode the Mark Foley scandal for a month to swing the '06 elections.

Huck may have liberal views on
some social issues, but he has consistently and solidly defended the rights of the unborn by being pro-life and against the destruction of embroys. Also, his definition of marriage is one man and one woman, this is supported by 24 states that have changed their definition of marriage to state one man and one woman. In a general election - I can easily see Huck gaining 40% of the Hispanic votes, 80% of social conservatives (pro-life people in both parties) and at least 20% of the independents who find him likable and without the usual "rehearsed political responses". In a Hillary Vs. Huckabee general election 15% stay home, Huck 45%, and Hillary 40%. One thing is for sure, we would get pro-life judges appointed to the supreme court and a culture of life will be upheld by the republican party. This is a risk worth taking whether we win or loose the whitehouse race. I hope other republicans decide that issues pertaining to the culture of life are more important than....money, because life is always worth more than money. Don't settle for a nominee who does not support life no matter what the person's credentials may be, because in the final analysis - the living will be judged by how they treat the unborn and weak (embroys). This may explain, at least for now, why Huckabee is rising.

Huckawedge?
This is one Republican who is done with compassionate conservatism. If the GOP nominates Hucksterbee I will choose to disassociate myself from the party and possibly vote to send a Dem to Washington for the first time. The way I see it, the end result of fiscal liberalism will be the same. Better to let the Dems take responsibility and face the consequences.

Huckster is a joke. His approach to foreign policy is a joke. His approach to fiscal policy is a joke. His history on immigration is a joke. His ignorance of these pillars of modern conservatism would be laughable if it weren't so frightening. He really is nothing more than a smooth talking Elmer Fudd.

The way the race now stands I could easily support Thompson, Romney or Hunter. I could support Guiliani with some reservations. I could close my eyes, hold my nose and vote for McCain in the general. I could sit on the sideline in the event of a Paul nomination but remain actively Republican. Not so with Hucksterbee. If he is the nominee I am done and will not come back.

What is Huck aiming at?

Republican chances in the general election, that's what. I think he did, in fact shoot it dead.

R.I.P. Reagan Coalition. I hope the rural social conservatives are happy standing by "their guy" as he gets absolutely destroyed in the general when every urban profession abandons him like the sinking ship he is.

Merry Christmas everyone, and enjoy your Turkey or Ham, because the next course to be served is the GOP in the form of cooked goose, coming to your grocer this November....

Right on Dr. B
This Huck thing was fun and cute for a while, but we're forgetting he's a 44 state loser in the general next November. Get your head out people!!
