"But he can be imprudent..." “Questions of honor are raised as much by appearances as by reality in politics,” wrote John McCain in his book Worth Fighting For. “And because they incite public distrust they need to be addressed no less directly than we would address evidence of expressly illegal corruption.”It was for reasons of appearances - not facts - that McCain aides in 1999 were reported as having attempted to distance the Senator from an attractive lobbyist that was half his age. From what the New York Times and Washington Post are both reporting today in terms of substance it appears to me that the biggest threat the blonde haired, Vicki Iseman presented was the appearance of hypocrisy in McCain's push for ethics standards. For the NYTimes to intimate more than that - without hard evidence - is appalling but not surprising given the Times' political bias and bent. If it WAS completely out of the norm for Senator McCain to write such "highly unusual" letters to the FCC as chairman of the committee that had oversight then the case could be made I suppose that he was mysteriously motivated for action on the matter regarding Paxon Communications, but the fact that the letters don't seem to ask for a resolution one way or the other seems to indicate that McCain is telling the truth when it comes to the substance of the charges. One last word... McCain better steel himself. He has had the free-est of free rides these last eight years. He was the media's darling as long as he was opposing the "evil" President Bush. But that ship has sailed, that affair over, and he had best be ready for every skeleton in his closet, every vote and action he has taken, and every moment of his private life to be revealed. Because the NYTimes and others will see to it that they are...
There is nothing honorable about McCain. He stabs conservatives (the loud people) in the back. What goes around, comes around. I hope conservatives let McCain twist in the wind.
By the way, his denials are unconvincing. The man appears like he's on his last leg. Is he on a medication that would cause that flattening of affect? He should be livid--instead he's like a zombie. Hmmm... |

Robert S. Bennett (His extensive experience includes representing clients before congressional committees; Mr. Bennett has served as Special Counsel to the United States Senate’s Select Committee on Ethics in several major investigations. He was President Clinton’s personal attorney in the Paula Jones case, and, most recently, he represented Judith Miller in the CIA leak investigation. In 1981 and 1982, he served as a legal consultant to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee regarding the appointment of Alexander M. Haig, Jr. as Secretary of State and served as Special Counsel to the United States Senate Committee on Ethics.) stated on national television last night that: he, as special counsel to US Senate committee on Ethics, investigated John McCain from head to toe and recomended he be cut loose of charges. Dems chose not too - would have left only dems. He, Bennett, further stated that John was a completely honest man. Bennett, a democrat, further stated that the story was nothing but a smear. Of course, if your a dem, that is okay with you - never let truth get in the way. Just depends on the definition of "is".

The article in the NYT is nothing but a smear campaign against the presumptive GOP nominee for President. Not a surprise given the history of the Times. If you read the article the lack of any compelling evidence to support their claims is so evident to leave you questioning how they could possibly believe this story would "stick". |

If we have to be told he's honorable, is he really?
I doubt it. Defeat McCain!!! |
|
Well you moderate Republicans wanted McCain and the Conservatives warned you that the MSM would tear McCain apart as soon as they were SURE he was the Republican nominee.
The MSM will destory McCain over the next several months with rehashes of the Keating 5, his wife's drug problem, McCain's ties to organized crime with Hensley's ties to Kemper Marley, etc...
The NY Times has had this story for more than several months and held it until now.
Just wait there is more to come.
Why? |

Who wins if McC is smeared? The neo-con freaks who have hijacked the GOP, that's who.
I have no doubt that this story was "leaked" to the Times to try to derail McC from certain victory.

It is not honorable to conspire behind closed doors with Ted Kennedy and La Raza against the American people.
It is not honorable to try to rush an amnesty for foreign nationals illegally in our country AND their employers through Congress without committee hearings shortcutting the normal process.
It is not honorable to have contempt for the will of the people. "I'll build the G-D fence if they want it." |

Who can say whether this story is true or not?
From "reliable" sources as The New York Times (?) this is a true story. Though they defied their own code of ethics, and protocol, in reporting it.
It seems fair to say this is standard behavior for a Liberal publication. Regardless of their, ocassional, good stories on Food, Arts, Fashion or Travel..
If this tale is true, it could change a lot for many who would vote for Mr. McCain.
Mike Huckabee took the high route, and the Biblically authentic one, by assuming the best of, and overlooking, a possible grave offense of this man.
It was Christ-like, and a fine example of the Golden-Rule.
People speak out too quickly, and in a manner that is too harsh, to their own disadvantage and selfish ends.
They make assumptions, falsely, and come to conclusions they want to see, that can be based one lies, rather than what is truly there.
It is honorable to refrain from judgement, and presumption, until the full story bears itself out.
I am not sure that it has.

was screwing her or not. What I want to know is about the sanctimoneous McCain and those lobbyists he has claimed to be against. That's the real story.
I also want the media to look into this story about McCain and the Bonano crime family. A check shows he got $2100 from five of them.

Have you lost your mind?
I don't think McCain can be trusted at all. |
|
Kevin never had a mind to lose in the first place.
I don't and won't trust McCain. |
