The "MuscleHead" Coverage Team

At about 9pm or so Faith and I will kick in with running "live blog" commentary here on the MuscleHead pages. The headliner for the night, Michelle "never been proud of my country in my entire adult life until my husband started winning a primary" Obama. YOU can join the discussion if you are so led in the comments to this post as well...

PRE-PRIME TIME STARTER TOPIC:
Is it just ME or do you think that the Obama campaign is really protesting too much, making too many statements, and too many public offerings stating that "Unity" is not a problem. I mean if it isn't - why do you have to make so many statements claiming so? Thoughts?

**Even more coverage - same low price**
Faith and I have both invited our roomates to join us in the "Live Blog" tonight. So you will get the unique honor of also hearing from the Lovely Bride, and Ms. Lindsay Matlock - what follows is their honest feelings on the night.

11:16pm
LOVELY: Overall, I think the evening went well for the Obama camp. I think that Kennedy's speech was well delivered and pointed toward the ideals in the forefront of the campaign. Michelle also redeemed herself from her previous  negative images--positive, caring mother and wife.

That was her big hurdle, and so this speech was mostly about her and where she and Obama came from--not about Obama's policies or platform. Tonight didn't tell anyone anything about what exactly he believes or what all the changes are going to be that they all keep talking about.

Except for the whole "healthcare" platform embraced by Ted Kennedy. This was a whitewashing of the Obama family; a "we aren't that different from you" story with none of the controversial or elite parts of their history included in what was said. It was meant to be reassuring, and I think it only spoke to people already on their side.

11:04pm
FAITH AMMEN:  If the convention was a self-help conference or a platform for motivational speakers, I would say the DNC has been successful so far. When it comes to having a real candidate with real experience and real solutions, they failed miserably.

Tonight I was inspired to vote for Obama because Teddy Kennedy has cancer and because Obama is a "normal" guy and because he bought ice cream for his wife.

The  stories were a nice touch, but it quickly turned into a sickening sweet feeling. I don't feel like I know the "presidential" Obama any better or why I should support his candidacy any more than I did 4 hours ago. I think all the personal stories were at complete odds with any policies that Obama support.

This is what happens when a Senator who was in office for less than 200 days before he decided to run for President of the greatest country on earth. I would hire tonight's Democrats for my next inspirational speaking gig but not for Commander in Chief!

10:59pm
KMC: What is Juan Williams talking about in regard to not ever having seen "such a thing" in terms of a black woman addressing the nation at a national convention? Did we forget that Condi Rice - did - TWICE?

10:56pm
KMC: The "hi daddy" stuff was cute... once...

10:54pm
KMC: Isn't it wonderful that Michelle Obama can describe such a beautiful relationship with her own daughters? Isn't it wonderful that she can describe the tenderness with which Obama felt the tug of fatherhood with all seriousness. I guess it's really good that neither of them were partially delivered, or discovered to have Downs syndrome - because it would be obvious that he would have let them die in soiled utility closets...

Lucky Girls indeed...

10:49pm
KMC: Major canard there - women were not being paid differently in Illinois than men... She made it appear that he did something that he did not do...
LOVELY: What does a "world class" pre-school education look like?

10:48pm
KMC: Im sorry what did she say? Why does she love this country? Because the thread of history has now found this new found hope?
LOVELY: I don't get how you can talk about working hard to achieve your dreams in life on one hand, and believe that government should supply all your needs on the other hand--the two ideas are contradicting and cancel each other out.

10:45pm
KMC: The "make it if you try" mantra is NOT a talking point that is well appreciated in the Jesse Jackson camp. I have to believe that the Obamas' emphasis on personal responsibility is not something that the old guard civil rights crew is going to be pleased by...

LOVELY: And when you are working hard to reach your dreams, the government taxes the heck out of you and discourages you from trying to earn as much as possible

10:41pm
FAITH AMMEN: "You work hard for what you want in life"...then why do you support your husband's policy of a big brother government who gives unlimited handouts?

10:40pm
KMC: Is Michelle a feminist? She needs a protector?
LOVELY: Michelle had a mother and a father, and her mother stayed at home to raise her and her brother, but that shouldn't be the ideal standard for families?

10:35pm
FAITH AMMEN: Michelle Obama pales in comparison to so many average women who don't get propped up as heroes...My mom gave up her engineering job at Xerox to stay at home with me...she's worked at homeless shelters, taught english to refugees, takes lunch to the elderly (through meals on wheels)...why is Michelle so special?

10:32pm
FAITH AMMEN:  This is so canned, scripted, and forced. There is no genuineness, no thought provoking images or illustrations, no appeals to reality...just 100% sappy music and sappy lines wrapped up in sappy movies...

10:29pm
FAITH AMMEN: There's no real examples of who Michelle Obama is...just "she's so nice..." "she's so compassionate..."
LOVELY: Michelle is wearing a very tiny peace sign necklace in her video...is she trying to make a statement, but hoping no one will notice it?

10:25pm - **Michelle Obama Video**
FAITH AMMEN:  Michelle falls for ice cream!
KMC AWWW - he bought her ice cream and it proved he knew how to treat a woman... yeah - she's definitely NOT an apple pie girl
LOVELY:  Buying a girl ice cream=knowing how to treat a woman.... I think there's a little more to it than that

9:53pm
KMC: Just got the word that Don Miller - emergent church guru - will be offering the closing benediction tonight... evidently not all that concerned with associating his "Christianity" with Barack Obama's infanticide...
Come on you emergent homies - explain that one...

9:44pm
KMC:  what is CNN doing?
FAITH AMMEN:  nothing
KMC Fox has Wexler on...
FAITH AMMEN:  booooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrring
KMC 'uuuugggggghhhhh
FAITH AMMEN:  where are all the young people? why are we using old lame music?

9:39pm
KMC: For a guy with a brain tumor, he was remarkably lucid and on point. Overall not a bad showing for Kennedy. And he was able to articulate his socialist ideas perhaps as strongly as ever. They were nonetheless socialist utopia silliness... that make wonderful prose, but not a strong possible reality...

9:36pm
LOVELY: Health care that involves standing in line like we all love to do at the DMV.

9:33pm
KMC: Maybe someone should tell him we're not electing anyone tonight - the votes are cast Nov 4
LOVELY:  Apparently rising "to our best ideals" involves voting for a man who believes babies should die in hospital utility closets.
KMC: I pledge to you, that I will be there when we become a great country?
LOVELY:  We haven't been a great country for the last 200 years?
KMC Of course NO ONE is denied care now...

9:27pm
KMC:
But the Kennedy family has undermined every war effort America has been a part of going back to World War I...
FAITH AMMEN:  EVERY person who has spoken has said "faith and family are so important." Memo to the Democrats: he mantra doesn't work if it is just a slogan...

9:24pm
Lindsay Matlock:  "He's always been there for the troops"- John Kerry ...?

9:23pm
Lindsay Matlock: He did say he has a "special commitment" to justice... however that may look...
KMC bloated and floating to the top?
LOVELY:  How many houses do the Kennedys own?
FAITH AMMEN:  Do you think our founding fathers would be remembered if their most important platform is "giving people healthcare?"

9:22pm
KMC: LOLOLOLOL - The sea is a metaphor for life... (or dead girlfriends)
LOVELY:  The sea is a metaphor for life for Ted Kennedy--how appropriate

9:21pm
FAITH AMMEN:  Caroline Kennedy fails to realize that "achieving the American Dream" has never come about because of government handouts but personal work ethic. Senators are not the ones who hand out "the American Dream." Welfare has never helped anyone find their American Dream.
LOVELY:  According to Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, "Uncle Teddy" always fights for what is right
KMC "whether he's teaching us how to drown our love interests, or sail boats..."

9:17pm - CAROLINE KENNEDY
KMC: "...To pay tribute to two men who have changed America?"
Lindsay Matlock:  Faith noticed that every speaker has mentioned "faith and family."  It is funny how relative the definitions of "faith and family" can be.
KMC Ok I get it - Barack broke through as the first black man to get the nomination - pretty thin - but a point. But how has "Uncle Teddy" changed America?

9:14pm
FAITH AMMEN:  Six percent of the delegates this year are gay and lesbian (about 250)
KMC: Interesting as that OVERSAMPLES the population. I guess we will see that reflected in the platform fight...
Lindsay Matlock:  they only gave the native americans 3%... I think they might have a little more invested in the history of this country than the gays and lesbians.
KMC: They certainly have a larger population...

9:05pm
KMC:  CLASSIC - H&C opens their hour of coverage with the Hillary vs. Obama debate - again forcing the issue and making the Obama team overstate the "unity" issue. I also had relayed to me when doing the Ed Morrissey, "Hot Air" show today that ALL of Hillary's senior staff is leaving Denver following Bill Clinton's speech on Wednesday - thus causing Obama's "historic" thursday to be absent of any Hillary's team. Also VERY telling that Terry McCaulliffe has been on the screen for nearly six minutes now - and has not once said anything by way of personal or Hillary'esque in support of Obama. He keeps saying "we have to be unified" not "we're all behind Barack baby."

8:58pm
KMC: For what its worth - I've counted four John McCain ads since we began blogging tonight.

8:46pm
KMC: (On Fox) Juan Williams in summary: "Joe Biden helps Obama win the 'Cougar' vote!"

8:43pm
FAITH AMMEN:  How can Jesse Jackson Jr show his face with his father out talking about cutting Obama's n*ts off? "Obama has a remarkable career in the Senate?" Is this the same Senator who was in office for 163 days before he decided to run for President?

LOVELY:
About the other topic, though...I definitely think Obama's camp is "protesting too much" when it comes to their current status with Hillary. The questions surrounding why he wouldn't have her as a running mate are just too easy to speculate on, and his camp is too quick to dismiss them as irrelevant.

8:42pm
FAITH AMMEN:  On Jimmy Carter's video: I agree that volunteers played a huge role. Hurricane Katrina happened my freshman year of college. I remember spending a Saturday morning in a Walmart parking lot loading diapers and canned foods into a huge truck. I also remember 100 of my fellow students who spent their fall break helping the victims of the Hurricane. But to insinuate that our government did not do anything is both irresponsible and inaccurate. $16.7 billion taxpayer dollars went to help Louisiana. There is a very detailed plan of what our government.

KMC BTW - The Lovely Bride and I are watching FoxNews Channel, and Ms. Faith and Lindsay are watching CNN. We've got OReilly on and they just ran that stupid song parody that's supposed to be a hit on McCain... CORNY! Not even close to measuring up to the brilliant whole stream of ads that have been pouring out of the McCain camp.

8:35pm
LOVELY:  Different topic--sorry--but I love that there are protesters in Denver who are defending the "rights" of the terrorsists being held at Guantanamo the terrorists who wouldn't think twice about killing them if they got the chance.

8:31pm
Lindsay Matlock:  CNN came out with a pole this morning that 27% of Hillary supporters are not just unsure about Obama, they are flat out voting for McCain.  If that is true then I don't think they can respond too heavily until that 27% is down to 0.

Warning!!
Hey kids - wouldn't you rather be waterboarded than put yourself through the torture of watching this calve-slobber?

It is torturous...
without question...
Richard writes: Monday, August, 25, 2008 9:36 PM
real torture

I contemplated watching this, but I just can't. It makes my stomach turn to listen to this stuff because I KNOW there are people out there buying it... I won't tune in until McCain's nomination.

Anyway thanks for watching for me. My stomach really appreciates it.. :)

FAMILY ?? BROTHER GEORGE OBAMA ??

SO are they doing a fund raiser for brother George Obama, the destitute brother, cast aside by DICTATOR BARRY OBAMA ?

KING OBAMA could not even raise 100 bucks to send to his brother who does not even have clean water to drink::: Lives in a shack

KING OBAMA raised 1/2 billion cash and in kind to become POTUS and NOT ONE DIME TO HELP HIS BROTHER out of destitute conditions:

AMAZING that they say "FAMILY" with a straight face:
Baby Karl writes: Monday, August, 25, 2008 11:12 PM
Not only did they say family...
They said it at every turn, by every speaker, at every turn...

Family and Faith - themes that rang hollow tonight...

Obama put women back in their place ?
Women Put in Their Place, Again.

On Aug. 26, 2008, the 88th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment giving Women the right to vote, Hillary Rodham Clinton will address America to explain why she and the rest of the women in America have allowed themselves to be put back in their place as third class citizens behind White men and now Black men. It is so disappointing to see women rolling over on their backs and doing as they were told, as if their Foremothers had not spent the past few thousand years suffering and struggling to be acknowledged as equals instead of the property of men ,to be used and abused and told what to do and think and say. What a shame it is that on the Anniversary of one of Women’s` greatest achievements Hillary Clinton will be personally giving up all that has been gained and admitting defeat once again. How sad that women have allowed themselves to be put back in their place and told what to do by Obama, Howard Dean and the DNC, and the media, then tricked into using such an important anniversary to admit defeat and pledge their allegiance to their new Master. It is such a disgrace to see the women of today selling out their Foremothers and their achievements so easily just to put another Male democrat in the White House, without realizing that when "United" they actually hold enough power to control this election and put a woman in the White House instead of another man.
