We have a MAJOR dilema on our hands. Children pushing themselves so hard they kill themselves. A 7-year-old boy who died at home Wednesday hanged himself, the prosecutor's office said. The boy, who was reported to be a very good student, might have been upset about receiving a poor mark at school earlier in the day, sources said. I see it all the time - Children feeling like they are under such pressure to succeed. Some say it is ethnic, some say environmental. We have lost the middle ground on raising children in balanced ways. 800.345.WMCA

We crave LOVE without TRUTH, but if we are going to influence people around us that has to change. The congregation of Southland Christian Church is being asked to send letters of love and support to troubled pop star Britney Spears, described by the pastor as having made "devastating life choices... Take a few minutes and write a note to Britney Spears," pastor John Weece said in a sermon and in a blog on the church website. "No preaching. No criticizing. Just love. As a church, let's love Britney the way Jesus loves her." A completely useless excercise in my opinion when we have so many girls who emulate Britney in our own families, communities, churches and schools. If we are going to make real change we must do something very different in these girls' lives much earlier. I am doubtful it can happen though - because of our intolerance to hear, much less be challenged by truth. 800.345.WMCA.

You have no business studying that major in school, pursuing a musical career, waiting for the jerky guy to finally commit, or staying in that job that doesn't fit. But you don't know when to say when. Or you refuse to. 800.345.WMCA. But knowing when you should call off a struggling situation can be harder to diagnose. American Idol syndrome is what I call it... why do we continue to encourage people we should be more honest with? I don't have a good answer for it - I just know we need to be more straightforward because ultimately, always telling someone to aim for the stars - DOES NOT help them reach their potential, and to me it seems there is a HUGE difference. 800.345.WMCA
