A strange combination of views. Speaking to major gay and lesbian gathering Dean says its time for democrats to work harder to get gays elected.

It's nice to see that to Howard Dean a candidate is not judged by what he believes and votes for - but rather by what kind of sex he or she likes to perform.

And how will our newly elected, "blue dog, born-again conservatives" respond to such a mandate from their party?

Good ol' Howie
Bent over a log and squealin' suey seems like a normal position for 'The Howlin' One'.

"We need to elect gays" ("Parity now!")
Maybe Dean is on to something. "D"s elected and reelected only three "for sure" gays, Barney Frank, Tammy Baldwin and the late Gerry Studds. All three were long out of the closet, and I'm not sure if Baldwin was ever in it.

"R"s on the other hand elected a passel of them...

Dave Drier, Robert Baumann, Kathy Harris, Ed Schrock, Jim Kolbe, Mark Foley for starters, though Kolbe was the only "out of the closet" to get reelected. Nixon even tried to put one, G. Harold Carswell, on the Supreme Court. Major General Edwin Walker was considered a potential presidential candidate.

It's about time the "D"s got their act together and followed the "R" lead in aggressively ending sexual discrimination in America.
