"I don't want to debate theology!"
It may be a while before this appears on the other blog pages of any other radio talk show hosts who contribute to Townhall, but it's worth noting - and objectively speaking - would only be FAIR to note it:
Republican Mike Huckabee Wednesday personally apologized to rival Mitt Romney for comments he made in an upcoming New York Times Magazine article that appear to disparage the Mormon faith.
GOP hopeful Mike Huckabee's campaign says his comments on Mormons were taken out of context.
The former Arkansas governor said he apologized to Romney after the GOP debate in Johnston, Iowa.
"I said, I would never try, ever to try to somehow pick out some point of your faith and make it an issue, and I wouldn't," Huckabee said.
"I've stayed away from talking about Mitt Romney's faith," Huckabee said. "I told him face-to-face, I said I don't think your being a Mormon ought to make you more or less qualified for being a president."
And on Mitt's part...?
"The governor accepted the apology," Romney spokesman Kevin Madden said. "He continues to believe that this campaign should not be about questioning a candidate's faith. While it is fair to criticize an opponent's record or policy positions, it is out of bounds for one candidate to question another's personal faith."
Good for Mike.
Good for Mitt.
Now can we all drop the reoligion thing and get on with nominating a candidate? |

"Mitt Romney appears to think that, the bizarre beliefs of his church, are beyond question
It is fair that he be asked about his beliefs Until 1978, the so-called Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was an officially racist organization. From The Book of Mormon, you can learn of the ancient battle of Cumorah, which occurred at a site conveniently near Joseph Smith's home in upstate New York.
In this legendary engagement, the Nephites, described as fair-skinned and "handsome," fought against the outcast Lamanites, whose punishment for turning away from God was to be afflicted with dark skin.
Later, in antebellum Missouri and preaching against abolition, Smith and his cronies announced that there had been a third group in heaven during the battle between God and Lucifer. This group had made the mistake of trying to remain neutral but, following Lucifer's defeat, had been forced into the world and compelled to "take bodies in the accursed lineage of Canaan; and hence the negro or African race."
Until 1978, no black American was permitted to hold even the lowly position of deacon in the Mormon Church, and nor were any (not that there were many applicants) admitted to the sacred rites of the temple.
Why should Romney not be asked to give an account of himself? A black candidate with ties to Louis Farrakhan could expect questions about his faith in the existence of the mad scientist Yakub, creator of the white race, or in the orbiting mother ship visited by the head of the Nation of Islam.
What gives Romney an exemption? The Mormons claim that their leadership is prophetic and inspired and that its rulings take precedence over any human law.
we should expect Romney not to whine anymore but to give clear and unambiguous answers to them."

Weave half truths, outright lies, quotes out of context, replaced accurate wordings with smear synonyms, poor research and malintent...with the justification, "religion is fair game" and you've got a Christopher Hitchens con.
After several weeks running blatantly counter to Article 6 by playing deck after deck of the religion card all over Iowa... Hitch Huck with a New York Times reporter and Huck has a lapse of emotionally, blind and dumb insanity and attempts a "3rd grade" baiting of a reporter...and hemorages a Freudian slip. Later, when his self delusion dissapates Huck makes a deeply sincere and gallingly apology to Romney explaining it was an "innocent mistake". I can go along with "innocent", a 3rd grader is still pretty young and innocent.
Flash!! Hot off the press!! I've just heard Christopher Hitchens is writing a new book titled "Article 6 is not Great: The Virtues of Striking Article 6 from the US Constitution". It's back book sleeve photo has Mike Huckabee practicing POTUS oath of office just above Mike's endorsement of Hitchens book. |

Mistake, yes. Innocent, no.

In 1998, the Southern Baptist Convention provocatively scheduled their annual meeting in Salt Lake City. The potential confrontation attracted a record number of mainstream media hoping for a dust-up (that never came). In preparation, the SBC distributed a 50 minute video entitled “The Mormon Puzzle” to 40,000 SBC congregations as well as publishing over 12,000 copies of a book entitled “Mormonism Unmasked.”
The keynote speaker?
Mike Huckabee.
Investigate for yourselves and see what you think. This doesn't look good for him in my book.

Which God - or more specifically - which Jesus do you worship?
That’s the crux of the question that Southern Baptist messengers will discuss as they knock on doors along the Wasatch Front, seeking to share their faith in Jesus Christ - as they understand him.In preparation for their annual convention at the Salt Palace this week, 10,000-plus messengers have been told that the Christ worshiped by members of Utah’s majority faith is not the biblical figure of historic Christianity.
A training video prepared by Southern Baptist leaders, titled “The Mormon Puzzle,” draws the conclusion that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have carefully cultivated a media image that leads people to believe they are Christian, when in fact they are not. Now all I need to do is attempt to get a look at that 50 minute vid and obtain copies of the literature from the convention. What did Huck know and when did he know it? Does this guy have do something stupid EVERY DAY? Is that the 11th commandment?

Actually, granny, I think it will bode well among true evangelical voters, of whom I am one.
