According to this morning's New York Sun for every three children that were born in 2006, another two were aborted in New York City.
The story is filled with factoids about all kinds of stats concerning births/deaths and the fear, or lack thereof over New York's growth rate. Evidently people are dying at half the rate they are being born so fair projections put the future population of the city at even higher levels than present.
Still there is some concern in the article about the decline of the birth rate - down ten-thousand plus from the year before. However if you recognized that 88,000 plus children were butchered in the mother's womb, then you could have easily recovered that ten thousand or so by even minimal encouragement for women to consider other options than abortion.
The one significant positive from the report is that teen-girls dropped in birth rates from 13,000 to 8,000. I want to believe that the drop is not due to teen girls having abortions.
So there were 122,000 children who were allowed to live. 88,000 who weren't in 2006. A very grave statement about the city of New York, certainly one of her less than proud moments!
