"Those of us who have read Kevin’s column, blogs, or heard him on my show and his own will not find his perspective surprising. However, The Kind of Man turns out to be a very personal work, and in that sense we get an opportunity to know Kevin much more intimately than I have in four years of friendship. Kevin shares painful lessons from his own life at both failed and successful masculinity. As I read the book, I was surprised at how little I knew about my friend, and how affecting these anecdotes are in underscoring his message."
I can't begin to express what Ed's words mean, as he has captured the exact essence of not just what I actually wrote, but what I hope the book is able to actually do in the lives of men, women, and children.
It has not surprised me that this book, though dealing with the issues of masculinity has sold so well across the spectrum of men and women alike.
My goal is stronger families, a more secure environment for children, more effective communities, and more Godly churches. Missing in that equation in today's scenario is the well balanced, compassionate, and unrepentantly strong man!
And if my failures and observations can help correct that course then I'm thankful for the chance to do so...
(On a side note -
my friends at GLYBooks.com are the only folks who have signed copies. With Stevie B and I broadcasting from their Long Island location Saturday night I was able to sign several dozen so until they run out - grab one or a handful.)
