Two more reasons...
In the on-going series of broken campaign promises... er, eh, "adjustment of expectations," it has become even more unlikely that President Obama will be closing the base at Gitmo anytime soon.
After running on the campaign promise of immediate closure by executive order, he has instead issued an executive order that gives himself permission to close it at a time and place of his choosing, likely somewhere near a year or two down the road if he so deems it necessary.
The problem is
Gitmo alumni are turning into Al Qaeda All-Stars. Witness tweedle Abu and Abu at the top of this post. These two are among the higher than 10% of Gitmo tennants who get out and return to plotting to kill Americans.
And
the Obama Pentagon spokespeeps can only say, "We remain concerned about ex-Guantanamo detainees who have re-affiliated with terrorist organizations after their departure."
Hey, isn't that great? Open up a bag of marshmellows and make smores.
Hey, here's an idea. Let keep the cockroaches in the hole we have them in--until Al Qaeda confesses defeat. This expediant rush to get them all out is embarrassingly foolish and dangerous.
And because Obama can't seem to find a place to put the REALLY dangerous sub-humans that we are still holding there, it appears all the loopholes he's given himself in his executive non-order last week might just save American lives. Though that has always run second place in the minds of liberals, democrats, and progressives, when they would much rather be protesting the "constitutional rights" of those who would take them.
