Atheism has become the philosophical rage du jour of recent.

Christopher Hitchens, the marxist editor of Vanity Fair, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, etc. have been "evangelizing" on behalf of the belief that there is no God. Their books have become instant best-sellers by the way. Though they offer nothing new to the discussion, and they certainly offer no hope to those who are seeking it - something in their message has stirred some curiosity.

For this reason my colleague Frank Pastore and myself authored columns yesterday here at TownHall that take them to task and debunk their beliefs. We talked about them on my show in NYC today in Hour 1. Hour 2 we talked with listeners about the same ideas. Or for the 3 minute version watch the new PUNCH commentary:

I argue in my own new book that the single biggest difference between the mind of the left (particularly the hard left - like marxist thinkers) and the right, and center right - is simple. The right believes in God, he's outside them, beyond them, authoritative over them, and as such has given us some guidelines and instruction on how life is best lived.

I tend to think that these angry cries of the godless among us are going to increase in the days to come.

The problem for them is this however. In their heart of hearts - even these "brilliant thinkers" have to admit that there is injustice and immorality in the world. The difference in a bad man and a good man - they have to see it with their own eyes. As such they will then have to debate what makes them that way - and their argument against God comes completely unraveled after all.

Read Hitchen's book if you like, then read mine... see if you can tell for yourself the distinctions, and why God is not just necessary - but a very GOOD reality!

I don't know Mellor...
Read this week's column. Hitchens was answered WITH SUBSTANCE - blow for blow.

Substance?
Sorry Kevin, but this is not substance:

"Christians do not make their case simply on the idea that, "God says condoms are evil." Rather the long view of God shows that He created us, and in doing so gave us guidance on the absolute best way to go about life."

The "long view" statement here is not an arguement, it's merely an attempt to further justify "God says condoms are evil." You may believe that god created you and gives you guidance, but that doesn't add any weight to the dogma. Charles Manson's followers also believed he gave them guidance on the best way to go about life. They may have been following something very different, but their reasons for following are the same as yours.

Also, you take exception with Hitchens lumping all religions together. Obviously coming from your perspective this is wrong, but try to look at it from an outsider's perspective for a moment. If it helps, keep in mind that for the followers of other religions, it is YOU who are the atheist and the heathen, as you don't believe in their God.
