"Bored!" Paying a visit to the Capitol building, Tom Hanks declared his desire to have the vote taken for the 2008 general election sooner than later. Hanks is a supporter of Barack Obama told Politico that he wished the election could be "held tomorrow." Adding, "I'm bored!" But I think most people who pay any attention to the political spectrum are anything but bored with the present drama shaping up in Hanks' own party. Obama leads big, Hillary makes a comeback (repeat cycle once), and now it looks that Obama may win 3 of the next 4 states, but Hillary wins in the biggest of the 4 and they end up going the stretch with Obama firmly in the lead, and Hillary trailing, and they get to the convention and have "the" slug-fest to make us forget Democrats in Chicago, or Republicans of 1976. It will be ugly, waste particles will be flying through the air, Clinton will attempt to steal the nomination, tempers will be tested, and every now and then Obama may step out to a microphone and say, "the Clinton camp refuses to recognize the will of our party's voters - particularly the choice of African-Americans, and young voters." Insults will be levied, dirt will be dragged up, and perhaps even punches thrown, and riots started before its all settled. BORED? Someone tell Forrest that "we're just getting to the good part."

This is totally unrelated to your post, but I put it here because I figured you would see it. In an earlier blog, you talked about the possibility that Alec Baldwin called Stephen a hater. Here is the link to the entire article that I found by googling and apparently, Alec did direct his statements at Stephen. It is on the 3rd page of the article. He makes his statements in response to a direct question asked of him about Stephen. Well, I guess this is related since Alec is totally out of touch with reality. |

I spoke with Stephen - his words not mine.
"I have a hard time thinking that Alec said anything like that."
I was also tipped that possibly a letter or two may be headed the "Advocate's" way. Possibly from more than one Baldwin brother...
Hmmm... 'twill be interesting to follow. |

It will be interesting to learn what he learned along the way. Study of the Framers changes your perspective on the law. |

Liberal idiots. Bored because they can't do anything constructive to help mankind. |
|
|
Tom, life is like a box of cha-co-lats - you never know what you're gonna get - unless you vote democrat and then you know you'll get a big government socialist! |
|
Tom Hanks' political views are of no interest to me or to anyone else here I would opine.
BUT
I used to admire Tom Hanks, and he made a lot of good movies - 'Sleepless in Seattle' is my personal favorite, and his work in 'Saving Private Ryan' and subsequent activities also drew my admiration, but when he made 'The DaVinci Code' I threw out all my DVDs with him in them as I did my DVDs with Ron Howard's name attached, now will I ever see anything with the names of either one of them attached to it.
I call it a boycott, some might call it censorship, but it is ECONOMIC censorship.
I know neither one of them cares, and most of you don't either, I just felt like shooting my mouth off.

hardly boring, in fact i haven't looked forward to something more, since i was 5, and it was the night before Christmas, may they truly RECREATE 68', let the festivities begin. |

The machine has not been invented nor will it ever be that can measure the depth of my indifference to tom hanks' political views.
tom: go out and play.
please |

I knew I liked you!! I, too, decided that neither Tom Hanks (formerly my favorite actor) nor Ron Howard (formerly my favorite director) would ever make another dime off of me. And my "boycott" list is growing exponentially - just about every time some Hollywood idiot opens his/her mouth. |
|
Someone break the news to sad little Kevin that Tom Hanks is an actor and "American Idol" is a TV show.
((PS: You right wingers seemed to like Tom Hanks just fine when he was raising money for WWII memorial in DC.)) |

mostly, because study of the Framers is a particular interest of mine. Adams is often seen as one of the forgotten ones, as he didn't make that many distinctive contributions (he was our first ambassador to England, and remained there whilst the Constitution was written, having written a defense of our various state constitutions (http://www.constitution.org/jadams/ja1_00.htm) in 1787). His influence was more steadying and subtle, although he largely wrote the Massachusetts constitution that gave us civil unions. |

Thank you for reponding. Did Stephen have anything to say about his interview in which he talked about Obama? |

I like the way guilt by association plays here.
Some of you are going to throw away all your DVDs of Ron Howard films (e.g., "Cocoon," "Backdraft," "Parenthood," "Apollo 13," "Cinderella Man", etc.) on account of one movie -- an adaptation of "The DaVinci Code." Let's leave aside the fact that Carol nor Uncle Max in all likelihood never saw the movie -- or that the it was based on a highly plausible novel. The idiocy of boycotting someone's career and anyone associated with him is repulsive.
Never overestimate the intelligence of culture-war radicals. They're all war and no culture. There's a "disconnect," all right -- between the Religious Right brain and cinema. I will not join any boycott of the film industry. |
|
|
Mind your own business. Did I call for a boycott? Did I say you or anyone else has to agree with me? Did I call people who disagree with me stupid, as you did? No, I didn't. I'm just as entitled to express my opinion as you are. The difference is I don't call you names. So, who's narrow minded? |

Tom Hanks isn't appearing in "John Adams" as far as I can tell. His name isn't mentioned in any credits I've seen. |
|
|
TOM is an EXEC PRODUCER on this and I will give the series a chance but, if it starts to scew the life and times and views of this Great American that will end it for me. I too have become less interested in Tom Hanks View on anything outside of his moviemaking skills.... I could care less about Dcode or whatever it was called. What concerns me is that he has done much good outside of the movie bussines and now he is steping into the process and speaking his mind feeling that his word is and viewpoint is more important than anyone else's.. I can say he has not reached the level of almost every other actor, etc in the Peoples Republic of the West Coast! |

You wrote, "But I think most people who pay any attention to the political spectrum are anything but bored with the present drama shaping up in Hanks' own party."
My edit would have read, "But most people who pay any attention to the political spectrum are anything but bored with the present drama shaping up in Hanks' own party."
Agreed! They are going to slaughter themselves due to one side of the dim party being diametrically opposed to the OTHER side. It's the fems vs. the blacks.
My money is on Mrs. Clinton winning, however, because the Dims have been rubbing in the blacks' faces for so long that an upstart, junior Senator from Illinois isn't going to be able to do anything to fix it. |
|
Tom Hanks makes great movies. Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. Who cares what he said about the election or who he is voting for. It's not like he's out there bashing the troops, unlike other actors. This article just seems like a piece of tabloid trash.
Is there not more important issues you could be writing about? |
|
PRENTEND for a living think! They call themselves artists...hahaha...they're repeaters! The directors are interpretors...the artists are the writers, set designers, coustume designers, & score writers.
It will be real interesting to see how he's interpreted John Adams' life!
If he's so bored maybe he should get a Real Job! |
