It appears that Francis Cardinal George in Chicago has approved a speech opportunity for Hillary Clinton in support of the Mercy Homes for Boys and Girls on this coming Sunday.
This defies a Catholic directive from 2004 originating in the Conference of Bishops to longer allow pro-abortion candidates a forum.
The luncheon on God's day will be to benefit the charity and the excellent work (of which I'm personally familiar) of the Mercy Homes.
Cardinal George inquired about it and wanted to be reassured that it was not a "political" stop.
I'm sorry, but this defies credulity. After you are a declared candidate for President, after you have participated in one of the Presidential debates, after you have raised millions in campaign cash... there are no more "non-political" stops.
My friends - the very good people at the PRO-LIFE ACTION LEAGUE are planning protests to her visit. (Catholics protesting at a Catholic ministry...) Good for them. Cardinal George's thinking is faulty on this matter and it might be up to the truly committed to help him change his mind.
