Christopher Hitchens also ascribes an anti-semitic quote to Falwell that I've never heard before concerning the anti-Christ already being on the planet and him being Jewish. It'd be nice if Hitchens is to assert such a slanderous statement that he cite the occassion or source...

For another Jewish perspective on Falwell - see Medved.

He said it
Whether it's anti-semitic or not is up for debate, but he did say it.

Scrooge....
All this back-peddling reminds me of Ebeneezer Scrooge's great line: "How dare you use my own words against me!"

Unbelievable !
I'm shocked that I have lived long enough in this nation, to see such open attacks against a dead Christian leader, before his body is even cold! Was Jerry Falwell perfect? NO! But he was very instrimental in bringing to light that abortion was not America's greatest contribution! He also helped pave a way for thousands of Americans to send their children to Christian Colleges, as an option of secular humanistic indoctrination by wacko professors such as Ward Churchill. If Religious Leaders can not point out to the Kings and Leaders of Nations the sins of a nation, then all of the Old Testament Profits were wrong!.............I happen to believe they were right......May Falwell rest in Peace.

for the record, Kevin
Falwell made his remarks about the Anti-Christ being a Jewish man alive today in at a conference in Kingsport, Tenn, in January, 1999.

There's your occasion and source. I mean really, A) did you doubt that Falwell would say such a thing, and B) you really hadn't heard that before? You honestly thought Hitchens was making it up?!

Hell and Back
Have you seen the video "To Hell and Back"? Atheists who clinically died and, in an out-of-body experience, went to hell. Needless to say, when they returned to this world, they became saved.
