In his first impromptu visit, to a White House Press Corps that did nearly 0 negative stories on him during the campaign,
things didn't go so swimmingly.
Asked how he could claim zero tolerance on lobbyists in his administration and simultaneously appoint William J. Lynn III who was a lobbyist for Raytheon. Mr. President got testy...
"Ahh, see," he said, "I came down here to visit. See this is what happens. I can't end up visiting with you guys and shaking hands if I'm going to get grilled every time I come down here."
And then a reporter from the Politico (hardly a right wing conservative outlet) asked another legitimate question as a follow up. The President took the reporter's arm and glared at him and added...
"Alright, come on" he said, with obvious irritation in his voice. "We will be having a press conference at which time you can feel free to [ask] questions. Right now, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to you guys - that's all I was trying to do."
I recall under the Clinton days that President Billary booted out anyone who dared to give the administration a difficult time.
I'm just wondering how long it will take for Obama to institute that tactic.
4... 5... more days?
