From high-school friend Kelliey:
Headlines On This Date 4 Years Ago: "Republicans spending $42 million on inauguration while troops Die in unarmored Humvees" "Bush extravagance exceeds any reason during tough economic times" "Fat cats get their $42 million inauguration party, Ordinary Americans get the shaft"
Headlines Today: "Historic Obama Inauguration will cost only $120 million" "Obama Spends $120 million on inauguration; America Needs A Big Party" "Everyman Obama shows America how to celebrate" "Citibank executives contribute $8 million to Obama Inauguration"
This is democratic hypocrisy at its finest! Are we to expect anything else from big spending fat cat liberals?
Nah! |

sickeningly demoRat. They really do feel superior don't they? So sad that they don't realize what scum they are, and that one day, through hard work and diligence plus a little help from God almight, we will bring them to their knees where they belong. |

In 2005, Bush was re-inaugurated. Why did we need to spend dime one on that, especially since we were at war and thousands of our troops were going to die in that war. According to the GOP types, the war is 'won', we're leaving, right, so not the same war now, right? The surge, right? And since Bush was already president, the parade, etc, wasn't required. What did FDR do in 1944? That would have been the best analogy to draw on.
Now, the bigger point is this--Obama's inauguration is historic. It is huge. Far more people are putting their lives on hold for one day to watch him being sworn it. What a day for our nation! Not only the smartest and solid person in the presidency in many a year, but the first African American president. Family from afar, great wife, adorable kids. The entire world watching and cheering. My relatives in Europe are totally stoked about it, bye-bye Bush as they put it. Do you realize how much Bush is hated all over Europe and the world? you don't care, do you? |
|
Your Euro-relatives care about or don't care about our President.
It's not a popularity contest. It's a job. The toughest job on earth.

Finally, the Neo-Cons are concerned about fiscal responsibility!
I presume that finally you will also object to flushing $10 billion every month down the toilet of Iraq? |

That about sums up Pet Goat, Chole and my former friends from Europe. Don't confuse them with the truth, they want to hate Bush for no good reason, they want to celebrate Obama for no good reason. Since I spoke the truth, my brainwashed European friends stopped the conversation. They prefer the company of lies to the company of a friend. Such people's opinions do not matter at all, so no, I do not care what they think. |

I, too, do not have to stretch my veracity to proclaim that the differences in the two sets of inaugural headlines represent the hypocrisy of the left....and particularly the media. But, it would lend a bit more credibility to the demonstration had there been "source" citings for each of the headlines. The absence of "sources" allows doubters and liberals a lot of latitude in rejecting any such intimation of an ethical failing.

"I, too, do not have to stretch my veracity to proclaim that the differences in the two sets of inaugural headlines represent the hypocrisy of the left."
The figure for Bush's inauguration does not include the cost of security; the figure for Obama's does.
If you add in the cost of Bush's security, as reported by the federal and DC governments, and adjust the figure for inflation, you get $177 million for Bush's reelection, as compared to the $120-160 million estimate for Obama.
How exactly is the left being hypocritical? |
