...uh-oh...

Yes we all know about the evangelical bigot's "get soft on crime" for born-agains in prison program...

But now we find out that Romney let killers go free too?

The probe uncovered six disciplinary complaints against Tavares between 1993 and 2005 that should have kept him in prison a total of 720 days, nearly two years beyond his release in July...

...Sources said the single most egregious breakdown came under Romney in 2003, when administration officials missed a 60-day deadline for filing paperwork to strip Tavares of 300 days of previously awarded “good time.”

Har!
That's too funny.

For a minute there I thought you were serious. And I was like, "What the heck, I thought he didn't pardon anyone and was tough on crime?"

Guess I had heard correctly. This is grasping at straws. It doesn't make Mitt Romney look bad.

It's kind of like all the comparisons of Bush to Hitler. It doesn't make Bush look bad, it makes Hitler look better.

Although I don't think this makes Huckabee look better for his actions.

Mitt is a Hypocrite? Shocking.
How can anyone support this clown? Romn will say/do anything to get elected.
Drex Davis writes: Friday, December, 28, 2007 7:49 PM
LOL
At first I thought you were going to say Romney had written a personal letter to a rapist expressing his desire to see him freed. But no, just Huckabee for now.

Oh, but a paperwork error by a lower staff member?

C'mon, is there NO dirt on this guy?

curious
Kevin are you, along with Boston Herald, making a mountain out of a mole hill? Judge Tillman was responsible for letting him go...It is a judiciary responsibility not an executive one.
Ernst_p you need to calm down buddy. This is not the end of the world.

Hypocrite, really
One Governor actively works to have a convict released and the convict goes out and commits murder. This governor also has a history of granting over 1,000 pardons and commutations.

The other Governor has a Corrections department that is negligent in filing some paperwork, of which there is no reasonable expectation he would be aware of.

They don't compare.

Sure Mitt could have micromanaged the prison, then he just might have caught the oversight before it happened, but he was elected to be Governor, not just prision warden. It is an unfortuate situation that never should have happened, but Mitt Romney didn't have a hand in it. Mike Huckabee, on the other hand has his fingerprints all over his pardons, and commutations, even if he was well intentioned.

Dishonest title
Kevin,

Even though your title is dishonest and misleading regarding Romney's dealings with the criminal justice system as Governor, at least you accurately described Huckabee when you wrote-----the evangelical bigot's "get soft on crime" for born-agains in prison program...

this is a joke
I can't believe anyone of you really spent time concerned over this- what a joke. It seems like to me that there is more than one dem in sheep's clothing around here who is bent on putting a dim light on Mitt at any cost. The guy is golden.

All you need to know about Romney
1. Romney claims to be "pro-life" but established abortion as a "healthcare benefit" in his own government run healthcare plan (after his purported "pro-life conversion.") Proof Source http://www.mass.gov/Qhic/docs/cc_benefits1220_pt234.pdf Of note, Romney also placed a Planned Parenthood representative on the health care board but no pro-life representatives.

2. Romney claims to oppose "gay marriage" and "did everything he could to oppose it as governor." Yet, his record shows that he was advised to ignore the Goodridge opinion by various constitutional lawyers (including Hugh Hewitt- proof source http://massresistance.blogspot.com/2007/12/hugh-hewitt-tol d-romney-to-defy-mass.html) and chose not to even though the court had no constitutional jurisdictional authority to even hear the case in the first place. When the legislature never amended or suspended the current marriage statute (Ch. 207) to accommodate "gay marriage" that should have been the end of it. But Romney had privately promised the Log Cabin GOPs not to oppose gay marriage if elected governor in 2002( proof source http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/08/us/politics/08romney.htm l?_r=3&hp=&oref=slogin&pagewanted=print&oref=slogin ) and so he chose to ignore the constitution he swore to uphold to fulfill the campaign promise to the Log Cabin GOPs and ordered his own Dept of Health to illegally change the marriage certificates from "husband" and "wife" to "partner A" and "partner B" and ordered Justices of the Peace and Town Clerks to perform same sex marriage ceremonies or resign even though it was against the law to do so.

bottom line on Slick Willard Romney
The bottom line is that Mitt Romney is the most liberal candidate in the race from either party. He accomplished what neither Hillary nor any other Democrat has been able to. Mitt gave Massachusetts a government run healthcare plan that included abortion as a “healthcare benefit.” (unprecedented) And Mitt gave Massachusetts “gay marriage” to fulfill a campaign promise in 2002 to the homosexual Log Cabin Republicans. That is the real story that the media including about 99% of the so-called "conservative media" (Hewitt, Bennett, Hannity, Sekulow, etc…) have conveniently ignored and suppressed. The real story that the media has buried is that Romney violated his sworn oath to protect and defend the oldest functioning constitution in the world (authored by John Adams) and knowingly violated it for his own political gain. And the real question that Romney and the media talkers who daily shill for him should have to answer is: Why should Americans trust that Romney would protect and defend the US Constitution when he flagrantly violated his own as governor?

To see specifically how Romney shredded the Massachusetts Constitution by instituting “gay marriage” read this “Joint Letter to Governor Mitt Romney from Pro-Family Leaders.” It is devastating. http://www.massresistance.org/docs/marriage/romney/dec_let ter/letter.pdf
Again, if you are not part of exposing this information, you are part of the cover up.

This is a stretch man. You are really reaching here. Of course, you are just giving us your "transparent" view of your objective thoughts on the election.

Romney goofed
RE: Daniel Tavares:

If Romney can’t keep track of one killer, how is he going to manage dealing with the complexities of various countries if elected? How will he deal with terrorists?

Whenever I look at Romney, I see a man who I think is saying what he needs to say in order to be elected; not what he believes. Hardly a quality I look for when I vote for President.

Action and others...
Please, one request. Stop referring us to Mass Resistance. We've been there. Its blatant anti Romney bias. We get their agenda, and that nearly all the "information" on that site is fabrication!

The other posters here are spot on. This comparison is nothing but a way for Kevin to fill space while he waits for the next piece of meaningless information to twist about some candidate.

Is Mitt accountable for anything?
Mitt wants Huckabee to take responsibility for the (all democrat) parole board Huckabee inherited, and those the board set free in Arkansas.
But when Romney's administration is on the hook for allowing a convict out too early, who then kills two newly-weds, there's no fault to Mitt?.

Perhaps the judge who let Taveras out has to take some of the blame? Of course Mitt appointed that judge. But again, Mitt has no responsibility for that.
Nor does Mitt have any accountability for appointing 2 gay rights activist judges to the bench.(It's not like Massachusetts would ever consider making gay marriage a law would they?)

For that matter I'm certain Romney won't accept blame for future decisions made by the other 12 democratic judges he appointed in Massachusetts, and all Mitt's other judges that wouldn't divulge their party affliation.

What's important now, is that the American people DO care who is appointed to the United States Supreme Court.
