[AFP] Veteran civil rights campaigner Reverend Jesse Jackson reacts to the news of Barack Obama's victory. [AFP]](http://www.radioaustralia.net.au/img/news/base/us_elex_jackson_afp_1108.jpg?gallery%3CBR%3E) "N u t s!" With the closure of the second of two national speeches aired in the early minutes of Wednesday morning the swoon became final.
Senator John McCain exited the national scene with a speech filled with grace and goodness, striking themes he had repeated dozens of times in weeks previous. But he did so in pledging his good will and effort to support the new President in the challenges he will face in the days to come.
And there will definitely be challenges...
By contrast I thought that Obama's speech was in some ways almost equally gracious, and as he has done through out the campaign he uttered extremely moderate rhetoric. He referenced John McCain, Republicans, and Abraham Lincoln and attempted to offer an admirable tribute to McCain's life long service to his country.
The self-indulgent, self-important, and self-historic projection through the reciting of some of the same, "out of the many - one" themes that he has used again, and again on the trail seemed to wear on me by the end.
It is an historic moment. It was the longest campaign ever run for President. In many ways for Barack Obama it also the most lucky. For after all without the total collapse of the housing/mortgage crisis this race would've looked very different tonight.
But now the rhetoric is through, the time to shut up and get to work is upon us.
He promises to be honest and transparent with us about the challenges we face. He promises to listen to those who do not now support him. He promises to work with those who oppose him to attempt to achieve genuine progress. He promises to move beyond race, and in that post-racial reality lift America to a place she has not been before.
The policies he has promised, in this correspondent's humble opinion, will do exactly the opposite. And in my opinon Barack Obama was largely elected by an electorate that was mostly ignorant of who he has been, or what he has voted for.
But let's say for tonight we let it be what it is... an historic moment.
Let's say for this minute that he will resist his idiology and move toward a more John F. Kennedy-esque pragmatism model of governance.
For tonight we have no choice but to take him at his word. We might even do so for about 143 days or so.
The ironic thing now is that the shoe is on the other foot - and in about three months - he starts being held responsible for every word and action...
...now, I need to go investigate the legal aspects of off shore savings accounts...
Why, because a terrorist-loving, communist, cocaine-using, racist, thug is on the way to Washington? I don't give a crap about his skin color, never did, never will. I follow King's guidance on race--I judge a man, not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character. This man has the lowest and most contemptible character. This man deserves no respect. He stole this thing--millions of illegal donations, Acrorn funded vote fraud, Black Panther voter intimidation to name just a few. This Kenyan should be frog-marched from his slum lord Rezko bought home in front of his wife and kids. From day one, I oppose everything this man does and will try to do. He is a deceiver, a liar, and a low-class usurper. For the first day in my life, I am Not proud to be an American. Great bit of history that.
Where do we go from here, to quote the freak, "They bring a knife, we bring a gun." |

Be prepared: RACE RELATIONS WILL NOT IMPROVE now that Barack Obama has been elected...it's actually going to get worse. Now every time anyone questions Mr. Obama he/she will be branded a racist and that will be the end of any chance of an honest debate. The press and Congress are going to roll-over rather than take him on because anyone going against the "First Black President" will be roasted alive in the press, mark my words.
As we all learned during the campaign, if you ask the "wrong questions" like Joe the Plumber did, then you're going to be investigated by the "Justice Department". If you're a journalist and say the wrong things you're going to be censored (like the Obama campaign did to the female news anchor in Florida) from access by the Obama White House. The fairness doctrine will be enacted against conservative talk radio and conservative ideas are going to be muzzled as much as they can get away with.
I have hope for our country and the Presidency as an institution of our government. I truly hope Mr. Obama will be everything the liberal idealouges and academia dream about. Unfortunately however, I'm a realist - and can only go by what Mr. Obama has proven in the past. Taking that into account, I must say that Mr. Obama's vision doesn't look much like a shining city on a hill but looks more like another drab European one that proves insignificant on the world stage. |

Could someone please tell me where the John McCain who delivered that beautiful, thoughtful speech last night has been for the past six months?
Did W's Neo-Con Flying Monkies hide that guy and put his nasty, petutlant evil twin out on the campaign trail?
If the John McCain who I heard and saw last night (articulate, intelligent, humane) had been the nominee, it would have been a very different race.
Yet again we have proof: W has virtually destroyed the Republican Party. |

If we had an ounce of respect for Jackson we woudn't mock him. But we don't so suck it up. Or go back to dailykos. |
|
|
The gutter pimps tears are due to the fact that it will be harder for him to shakedown and extort companies using his "whitey is a racist" hammer. Or maybe he’s crying because some half-black punk was elected President and not a full-blown black racist like Jackson. |
|
---- and only a group of nasty, bigoted scumbags would mock the tears of joy displayed by Jessie Jackson......allen--------
Coming from a leftist clown whose brain dead ilk mocked Palin's family and handicapped child. You leftist pukes are such losers; hopefully you'll be fired when obama raises your employer’s taxes. Oh that's right, you're a useless welfare parasite. |

Why don't you find a nice Dim/Lib blog where you will fit in? |

The Blacks have served noticed that whites better not speak truth to any racial issue, if it doesn't favor them! Just ask Clinton and Geraldine etc., who were tagged as rasist for no valid reason. We cannot have honest, open dialogue with such insecure, paranoid mindsets. Maybe now that the Blacks have obtained the blessing, great freedom and opportunity to reach the highest position in the free world, we won't hear their self-pitying complaints of equality. Now its time for the 'woman' to be accepted and elevated, so some day Gender will triumph! Go Lady Sarah! |

|
Its obvious why the teflon Novice Obama won; leaving logical thinking, informed persons shaking their heads in disbelief, because the reasons make so little sense. When the highest office in the free world would be given to the ill prepared, misguided Rookie, with a thin resume, leaves much to be desired! The unrelia-ble Dem primary rules/process favored Obama, so he won by default. Hillary won the Popular vote, if her Fla count had not been shared with Obama. Now Obama has won the election by hook and crook, let me count the ways, ha! Because he wasn't 'vetted' enough in time, 2 little 2 late; thanks to the non-objective, biased Media, in bed with their beloved Obama! Again, because of the excessive sham'paign donations and many unaccounted for. This enabled Obama to buy the WhiteHouse, money talks! Also, illegal votes, which we will not uncover. Finally, because 'its the Economy stupid' and voters already mad at the Bush Administration took it out on innocent McCain. Had there been a 'defense' security issue instead of financial mal-function, Republicans would be celebrating instead! America in peril with the scary, unqualified 'O' |
|
|
I think Jessie was also crying because it wasn't him on that stage. He paid his dues and has the substance over 'O' but style won and like the Clintons Jessie has been snubbed! |
|
I worked hard to promote Hillary. My heart leans democrat and its also time for a woman to triumph. When he disrespected the stronger, deserving Hillary for insider, slow Joe who has liitle to show for a long career, I wasn't going to vote! Soon after I realized how unqualified and dishonest the illusionist Obama was. I am just as upset with the misinformed, lamebrains who do not look beneath the surface of things and vote with their emotions, out of ignorance, instead of doing their homework etc,! This wasn't a popularity or American idol race but who cares, the 'gimmes' certainly don't. Their expecting SantaObama to deliver the goodies, self first not country! God help America, they know not what they did. Ex Democrat |

Stop the madness.. When will someone do a Top 10 or 20 list of what needs to be done and compartmentalize the actions and results of such. Let's start with Obama and America take America back.
This if done correctly and kept and I mean kept on the front burner on high heat we can keep the left wing of both parties in check so we don't end up in this and ever other mess again.
If their names and accountability is put out there then they will start to be a lot more cautious and not hide one issue under another in the lamest of segways that seems to be the norm in politics today. Going back to try and find information seems to be a challenge with all the different people doing it. Hit them immediately when they do it!!
Fed up in chicago with them all, Darren F. |

It is tempting to contemplate a possible higher divine purpose in the economic crisis that fueled Obama's final stretch run for the White House and brought the McCain campaign to its knees. God is the ultimate Illuminati -- sorry to disillusion the media. His will cannot be overridden, so we have hope because we know how the story ends. |
