Address the gathered throngs at CPAC coming up the end of this week.
CPAC is the largest gathering of conservatives. Like minded folks from across the nation show up in the thousands to talk taxes, defense, terror, economic growth, gun rights, abortion, marriage, and the list goes on.
This morning CPAC sent out the most recent Press Release confirming that Rudy Giuliani will be addressing the group at 12noon on Friday.
The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) announced that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will address the conference on Friday March 2, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. in the Omni Shoreham Hotel’s Regency Ballroom in Washington D.C.
“As Mayor of New York City from 1994 through 2001, Rudy Giuliani installed the management principles of efficiency and effectiveness in city government, reducing crime, reforming welfare, cutting taxes 23 times and reducing the size the City bureaucracy. Through his efforts, the city’s historic deficit was transformed into a multi-billion dollar surplus,” said American Conservative Union Executive Vice President J. William Lauderback. ACU is the lead sponsor of CPAC.
“Americans of every political stripe respect and appreciate the brand of leadership Mayor Giuliani exhibited in the wake of 9/11. The indelible image of the man known as ‘America’s Mayor’ directing our immediate response to those attacks accurately reflected our nation’s inherent and collective strength. CPAC is pleased to welcome Mayor Giuliani and we are pleased to offer him this opportunity to explain to our audience his vision for our leading our nation,” concluded Lauderback.
This is a good thing for Hizzhonor to do. He has stood opposed to the conservative stronghold positions on abortion and the redefining of marriage. He needs to come make the case as to why people who hold strongly held beliefs about those issues should vote for him.
I don't know if it will be enough - but I will assure you of one thing...
The fact that John McCain refuses to come anywhere near CPAC will add to his complete downfall. Rudy will get points for coming and having a dialogue. Embittered McCain, should he decide not to accept CPAC's invitation, will have given the group already most inclined to view him with skepticism - reason to renew their scorn.
It should be a great time. Come on and join us...
TownHall will be in its usual spot in the exhibit hall. Mary Katharine Ham may be joining me for one of the two broadcast days that I do the show from there. I will be making an appearance/signing some books for the awesome Young America's Foundation constituents, and I will sign books for CPAC on Friday at Noon, immediately following my scheduled slot in the Main Hall.
UPDATE: Michelle is going, signing books the same day I am, and is going to have the HotAir cameras turned on in full force. She's right - it IS turning into the "can't miss" event of 2007.
