"...jailing the bad guys..."

I talked at length about the very wrong-headed case of the Pasadena, Texas D.A. prosecuting and sending to the grand jury the shooting deaths of two likely illegal aliens who were breaking into a neighbor's home of a seventy year old man who sent them to see Jesus.

Will authorities do likewise in the issue of this four year old who saved his mother's life?

Listen to the discussion from today's show - about 3/4's of the way through the hour a Newark cop calls in to say the 70 year old was "clearly in the wrong." To which I responded, "Sir does it frustrate you to lock up the good guys, knowing that more often than not the bad guys get away...?"

RIDICULOUS
I am a retired Chicago Police Officer. In Illinois, technically this man would have violated the law. In reality, by the time we got through writing the paper and getting his "statement" there would be no way charges would be placed. Of course, I am old school.

If that DA even thinks of taking that case to the grnad jury, a movement should be mounted to have him ousted from office.

Alaskan justice
Here, the old guy would have violated the law, but the police here know that most Alaskans would do the same and it's highly unlikely they would prosecute. If they did, the elder could, would and should take it to the jury and no Alaskan jury would convict. Our police are stretched too thin for us not to take matters into our own hands. I know of situations similar to this and even when charges have been filed, they've been dropped when the citizen lawyered up and started talking jury.

Real simple....
This is an easy one: did he or did he not break the law?

If he broke the law, then he MUST be prosecuted. If he didn't, give him a parade or put him on a stamp for all I care.

We are a county of laws. Not of emotion, feelings, etc.

You people really should take a Civics 101 course sometime.
