...the fib was this big...

If this report is true, then somebody been makin' up a ho-bunch-o-stories.

David Brody of CBN is reporting that Obama's camp is circulating a document claiming they have taken the lion's share of the "faith" vote. But they're math doesn't add up:

New Hampshire
37 % of those who attend church weekly voted for Obama (32% HRC)

South Carolina
64% of those who attend church more than weekly voted for Obama (23% HRC)

Alabama
61% of those who attend church more than weekly voted for Obama (36% HRC)

Georgia:
69% of those who attend church more than weekly voted for Obama (29% HRC)
71% of those who attend church monthly voted for Obama (29% HRC)

Missouri
59% of those who attend church weekly voted for Obama (40% HRC)

New Jersey
56% of those who attend church more than weekly voted for Obama (34% HRC)
Credibility problems include specifics like:

Is the Obama camp claiming these as absolute numbers - that honestly 71% of those who attend church monthly in the Bible belt state of Georgia voted him? Meaning the remaining 29% was split between all those "evangelicals" who voted Republican, and his opponent Mrs. Clinton?

For every category that claims even a majority of church goers in a given state - does that mean that fewer church goers voted Republican in their primary combined than voted for him as a single candidate?

NO!

What these numbers mean is that Obama's camp is lying. Lying BIG TIME! Given that church going evangelicals are the most reliable voting block for the GOP, Obama's camp isn't even the least bit sophisticated in how they try to tell such stories.

But whoppers they are circulating nonetheless... Big fat huge whoppers...

What is the Big deal, so what If...
Kevin:

Don't get me started now. You know very well that Politics is about lying efficiently. Politicians make promises that people want to hear but after being voted into offices, they forget the people and pursue their own agendas.

If the people protest, they are gassed and arrested for disorderly conduct and thrown into prisons.

And you medias do nothing and that is for a good reason because if you are too vocal, your licenses could be revoked, the FBI, CIA, IRS and NSC would investigate and intimidate you.

They can entrap and blackmail you and force you to back off.

You know that the media lies, manipulate, twist, and fabricate and sensationalize stories to create publicity and demand so as to make billions of dollars.

You are part of the media establishment so you know this better than me.

Therefore, what if Obama's camp is not forthright about this. What are you going to do? The Billary's also lie. What have you done to them? Let he or she who has never told a lie cast the first stone.

Telling lies is the rule in America and whoever tells better lies win and the media applaud him.

So, shut your mouth up and talk only when there are serious issues to be discussed.

There, Their, They're
Guide to the grammatically clueless: "there" is an indication of location, "their" is a possessive pronoun referring to the belongings of others, and "they're" is a contraction of the words 'they are.' If you don't want to come across as an illiterate yahoo, learn to write before you blog. It's just like walking into someone's house and throwing up on the rug: bad grammar = bad manners.

Straw Man?
Are you really so asinine? Or do you have an agenda?

The numbers show that Obama is trouncing Hillary among democratic voting church-goers.

You are attempting to distort his claim, by claiming them as "absolute numbers" (when the numbers provided by the Obama campaign clearly discuss Democratic voters only) and then call him dishonest based on your incorrect assumptions.

Nice try, friend.

Maybe they stayed in a hotel
Hey, don't pick on Obama; they are probably counting the people who stayed in hotels where there was a bible in the night stand or maybe they walked past a church or maybe they have a bible in the house or maybe..............they inflated the numbers. Pick one!

Why lie?
This is from the New Yorker:

http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2007/11/26/071126fa_fact _lizza?printable=true

"For Obama, the cookies are just the beginning of his campaign's attention to detail and to the realities of Iowa politics. While Waliser was teaching the intricacies of caucus-night mechanics, a thousand miles away, in Washington, D.C., an array of forty-eight computer processors were mining census demographics, consumer-marketing data, and Iowa-state voter files to form one of the most sophisticated and data-rich portraits of an electorate ever created. This is the work of Ken Strasma, who is among the Democratic Party's most admired numbers gurus. After being pursued by all the major candidates, Strasma, who helped Kerry to win Iowa in 2004, decided to commit his firm, Strategic Telemetry, to Obama."

So, your point is that a campaign that has the most sophisticated data crunching capacity ever put together is lying to itself?

You're too used to George Bush. He's the one who ignores information and lies about the basis for his decisions. You must think that everyone makes decisions that way.

If you're smart, and Obama is really smart, there's no need to lie to make a compelling case, and there's absolutely nothing to be gained by lying to yourself.

Christian voter!
I attend church at least one time every week and plan to do anything I can to help elect Barack Obama.

Maybe the poll is right, and you people just can't deal with it?

Black Churchgoers?
I wonder how the poll-takers are sorting out these two groups: people regularly attend church, and people who are black. I don't know Southern culture well enough to guess whether most Southern black regular churchgoers are Evangelical---maybe somebody else can speak to that. And what is the difference between the Evangelical vote and the "faith" vote? (I don't know.) But I should think that a cleverly constructed poll could be...cleverly constructed, and still not lie. I didn't see race as a variable in what was given here. Did I miss something?

If I have an ice cream store, and it happens to be across the street from a Catholic church, and after church a lot of people come to my store to buy ice cream, I could claim honestly that my brand of ice cream was widely enjoyed by Catholics. If they attended Mass only on Sundays and I sold no flavor but strawberry on Sundays, I could claim honestly that Catholics buy strawberry ice cream. Religion is important in black culture. Obama has the black vote. Are you following me?

ROFLMAO. I love the image of the 48 data-mining computers whirring away while the right-wingers continued to insist that Obama was some stupid black guy with a nice smile who was being run as a figurehead by white liberals sick with their own racial guilt.

A major political campaign is a huge machine that takes in money as its raw material, processes it through ideas (and the 48 computers), and spews out its product, votes. Obama is the CEO of the most amazing campaign in my lifetime, and I'm old. Are townhallers still calling him "the empty suit"?

Barack camp lying.
I personally can't see Evangelicals voting in huge numbers for Barack because Barack doesn't support Israel. The fact that Huckabee won Georgia by huge number with huge Evangelical support it just surprises me plus the fact but you can ask poll questions any way you want to make it come out in your favor. That is my opinion.

Obama is a congenital liar
He simply can not tell the truth-and will not tell the truth, if a lie will do better.

He is a first class scumbag.

*If* he's elected he will be a one term joke who will be worse than Jimmy Carter-who at least accomplished the Camp David accords.

Barack Hussein Obama doesn't have the gravitis or the simply prerequisite integrity to be President.

If this cockscomb is elected, we will see the most egregious cases of racial nepotism and incompetent political appointments the country, or the world has ever seen!

And all those no account friends, great aunts, unemployed uncles, 3rd cousins, and assorted *remorahs* will bring Hussein down with a series of scandals that he had nothing to do with-EXCEPT that he was stupid enough, and racist enough to appoint total nitwits and incompetents to government postions- "souly" [sic]because they are "brothas" or "sistahs"

But more than likely, the Republican attack machine will slice him up like a watermelon.

Prediction: Hussein will be down ten points to McCain come October, and then the greasy, *conk* haired "reverend" Al Sharpton will say that "proves" America is still racist.

You read it here first.

OH NO NOT AGAIN writes: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 8:34 AM
Business as usual....
cornpone harry, etc.,

But wait, wouldn't it be more of the same Bush mentality if we say..... vote for a candidate who could not even balance the budget for her campaign, (with all her experience), terribly underestimated her opponent (with all her experience), has fired the head of her staff already(with all her experience). Complains about being asked a question first during the debates but wants us to vote for her to be first in the nation?

Why would we do that?

One good thing is that after she does not balance the budget she can write America a check from her personal account.

Can you explain?
